Kirsten Dunst was left upset and exasperated when she testified at the trial of a man accusing of stealing her handbag, insisting she was made to look like a "stupid actress" when she took the stand. James Jimenez was accused of raiding the "Spider-Man" star's suite at the SoHo Grand Hotel in New York in 2007 while the actress was filming "How to Lose Friends & Alienate People" with Simon Pegg and Megan Fox.
Jimenez was found guilty of trespassing last year and he headed back to court this summer to face a retrial on a burglary charge. Dunst testified during the trial and Jimenez was later found guilty and sentenced to four years in prison.
But the actress endured a harrowing experience on the stand when defense attorneys questioned her about a stash of marijuana which was found in a purse belonging to Dunst's assistant, Liat Baruch, which was also taken in the raid.

And Dunst reveals she found the experience extremely uncomfortable, claiming the lawyers attempted to make her look "stupid".
She tells BlackBook magazine, "It became such a spectacle. It should have been so simple - put the guys who jacked (stole) our stuff in jail. But then I had to go to court, where I was made to look like a stupid actress."...

A stash of marijuana was found in Baruch's bag, and Jimenez's defense attorney claimed his client was granted access to the suite along with an alleged drug dealer who was invited there - an allegation which was denied by the actress' rep. The issue was raised again when Dunst took the stand to testify on Tuesday, June 1, and when asked if she smokes marijuana, she replied, "No I don't". Kirsten Dunst's personal assistant has confirmed she was keeping marijuana in the hotel room where the actress' purse was snatched in 2007 - but insists the star had no knowledge of the drugs.
Liat Baruch took the stand at a court in New York on Thursday at the trial of a man accused of stealing the Spider-Man star's designer handbag from her suite at the city's SoHo Grand Hotel.
James Jimenez was convicted on a charge of criminal trespass in October but is facing a retrial at Manhattan Supreme Court after a jury last year failed to reach a verdict on charges of felony burglary.
A lawyer for the 35 year old claimed during a hearing on Wednesday that his client gained access to the penthouse because he was with alleged drug dealer Jarrod Beinerman, who was reportedly invited to Dunst's hotel room - but the claim was denied by the star's rep.
Dunst's assistant Baruch has now admitted there was marijuana in her bag, which was taken along with Dunst's Balenciaga purse.
But she is adamant the actress was not aware of the stash, and she had no intention of sharing the drugs with her celebrity boss, according to the New York Daily News.
She told the court, "I had a little bit of marijuana in my bag. No one else smoked pot. I was planning on smoking it alone after we wrapped, after work."
And when defence attorney Robert Parker asked her, "You were going to smoke that with Ms. Dunst, right? Ms. Dunst knew you had the marijuana in your bag, correct?" Baruch replied, "No".
Dunst, who testified at the original trial last year, is expected to take the stand again next week (beg31May10).

New York, May 28 – Kirsten Dunst’s former assistants have denied the defense’s claim that there was a drug fest going on during the actress’ party in 2007.
“No, there was no celebration,” The New York Post quoted personal assistant Liat Baruch telling a Manhattan Supreme Court jury, testifying in the burglary re-trial of Brooklyn car mechanic James Jimenez, charged with sneaking into the SoHo Grand hotel three years ago and swiping the Balenciaga handbags of both Baruch and Dunst.
“I have no knowledge for any wrap party planned,” agreed the second.

New York, May 27 – A lawyer for a robber who snatched Kirsten Dunst’s purse has said that the thief was looking for drugs.
A lawyer for James Jimenez claimed claiming his client was in her SoHo Grand suite because “there were drugs in the room.”
Jimenez was tagging along with drug dealer Jarrod Beinerman, who is a major New York drug dealer, according to the lawyer, Robert Parker.
Parker said pot was found in an oversized Balenciago bag owned by Dunst’s assistant, Liat Baruch, which had been revealed at Jimenez’s first trial. He theorized that Beinerman must have.
