Well, the most wonderful time of the year is upon us yet again, and if you’re thinking I’m about 30-days-and-change late in going on about Christmas, well, you obviously don’t live in Los Angeles. For around these parts, the time in between the announcement of the Academy Award nominations and the awards ceremony itself—this year a much shorter gauntlet of days for campaigning nominees and their studio backers to run—is Christmas redux, a month-long-or-so orgy of adulation when everyone loves everyone else’s work and the spirit of lavishing career-honoring praise and statues permeates the air like thick, throat-thrashing smoke from a nearby wildfire.
This year is no different, of course, but maybe the usual sense of inevitability about who’s gonna win what is a bit more pronounced, simply because for awards show after awards show the same handful of winners have been seen...

Browne rose to fame through appearances on "Larry King Live" and "The Montel Williams Show," eventually becoming a regular part of "Montel." The news of her death broke on TMZ, along with a message on Sylvia's Facebook page, noting that a private memorial service would be scheduled.

Celebrity psychic Sylvia Browne is doing damage control over a prediction made nearly 10 years ago claiming Ohio kidnapping victim Amanda Berry was dead, but her actions may represent a watershed moment in how Americans view psychics.
"The [Ariel Castro abduction] is a test case for all psychics," said Joe Nickell, editor of Skeptical Inquirer, a magazine that encourages science-based analysis of paranormal and fringe-science claims. "Why didn't one psychic wake up in the middle of the night and know where they were?"
Browne told Louwana Miller, the mother of Amanda Berry, on "The Montel Williams Show" in 2004: "She’s not alive, honey. Your daughter’s not the kind who wouldn’t call," The Atlantic Wire reported. Berry was kidnapped 10 years ago and was found alive on Monday.
Browne responded with an official statement to The Huffington Post earlier this week that included this line: "Only God is right all the time."

Writer/Director: Rodrigo Cortés
Featuring Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy, Joely Richardson, Toby Young, Elizabeth Olsen
Cortés’ follow-up to Buried is a starry affair, but solid turns from his A-list cast can’t quite rescue the story from sinking under the weight of its over-wrought hypothesis.
Red Lights deals in psychic abilities, specifically those displayed on stage by extrasensory celebrities like John Edward, Sally Morgan and Sylvia Browne. Are they raking in millions thanks to an innate gift, or are they skilled cold readers perpetuating a fraudulent act? Are we able to communicate with the other side, or is talking to the dead merely wishful thinking by the bereaved? Can anyone definitively prove the existence of spirit voices, or, conversely, explain away every single instance of parapsychological activity? This heated debate has been going on at least since the foundation of the American Society for Psychical Research Society...

Sylvia Browne has been around forever. That's not to say she's immortal (although, hey, maybe she'll argue you on that one), but the self-proclaimed clairvoyant is a longtime fixture of the talk TV circuit, having appeared on many a Montel, Sally Jesse Raphael, and Larry King Live. As a skeptic might expect from someone who claims to see ghosts and spirits and all that celestial hooey (no offense, believers!), Browne is, indeed, quite a character.Continue reading Never change, Sylvia Browne

After 17 years on the air, Montel Williams and his talk show have been cancelled. But fans can take heart as neither are leaving the airwaves for the foreseeable future.
The Montel Williams Show first hit the airwaves on September 30, 1991 in New York and a few other markets. It was picked up for syndication the following year. The show generally focuses on uncontroversial subjects, personal stories, and the readings of self-proclaimed psychic Sylvia Browne. The show was nominated for Daytime Emmys in both 2001 and 2002. A decorated member of naval intelligence, this was the first show for host Williams. He received a Daytime Emmy in 1996 and was nominated in 2002.
CBS Television Distribution has announced that the Montel show is ending its run after 17 years on the air. The syndicated talk show's fate was reportedly sealed when a number of Fox-owed stations decided against renewing the show for another year. Show production will...
