Willow Creek, one of the nation's largest and most powerful megachurches, leads evangelicals by learning from the business world's best.
Jack Welch called the other day. He wanted to talk about his friend Bill. Forget the notion that the ex-ge chief is a curmudgeon -- the guy just gushed. Bill "is a man with enormous capability, a man who can rally a team around a vision." Bill runs a fast-growing organization based just outside Chicago that today has affiliates on every continent except Antarctica. London, Sep 26 – Brit model Kelly Brook’s life has apparently changed after reading Scott Peck’s cult psychology book ‘The Road Less Travelled’ on holiday recently.
It has made her turn the page on her love life and walk away from boyfriend Danny Cipriani.
“Kelly’s a completely different person now. It sounds strange to say, but the book changed her outlook on life,” News of the World quoted a friend as saying.
“She came to realise all of the relationships she’d had in the past, including with Danny, were dependent and unhealthy. She’s determined to lead a more spiritual life from now on,” the friend added. (Ani)...

Plus Louis Van Amstel's sexy new look, a PSA from cats, and the degaying of Cholly and Flytrap.
The Kids Are All Right expanded to 38 screens this week and wasn’t able to maintain its record-breaking average from last week, but at $27,285/screen, it was still top dog over all the limited releases on a per-screen basis.
John Barrowman wrote a travelogue for the Daily Mail about the cruise he and Scott took with his parents to the Caribbean, and how much they enjoyed just staying on the ship and lying in the sun and hitting the spa. Granted, most people buy a t-shirt on their vacations, but John and Scott bought a villa on Antigua.
In their Withering Glance column, Rick Nelson and Scott Peck tell Minneapolis-St. Paul all the cool stuff they should be doing, wearing, and reading for the summer, and were kind enough to put AfterElton.

Are there any normal, well-adjusted families? If so, someone should write a memoir about it — it would really stand out in the decidedly crowded genre of memoirs-about-wacked-out-families.
It seems like a lot of these dysfunctional families also had gay kids — Augusten Burroughs and David Sedaris are just the most famous, but I swear I've read at least four other memoirs recently by gay men writing about their screwed-up, usually suburban families, including All American Boy by Scott Peck, Twisted Head by Carl Caportorto, and Amerca's Boy by Wade Rouse.
And that doesn't include memoirs by famous gay people or thinly-veiled fiction!
Needless to say, this is very well-trod ground.
The latest is Where's My Wand? (Amy Einhorn Books/G.P Putnam's Son, $24.94), whose author, Eric Poole, takes a decidedly light approach.
Which isn't to say his family isn't screwed up: it is. And as in most of these memoirs, it's...

2010 Best Actor Academy Award-winner Jeff Bridges.
Editor’s Note: Congratulations to Jeff Bridges for finally getting his props with last night's win for "Crazy Heart"! He's now officially lost the title of "Most Underrated Actor of His Generation." In the spirit of Jeff's victory, we at The Interview thought it appropriate to share this article, which originally appeared in the July 1999 issue of Venice Magazine. Enjoy, and well-done, Jeff!

Jeff Bridges is arguably the most underrated great American actor since the late Robert Ryan. A performer of incredible range, whose myriad of characterizations over the past 30 years leave the filmgoer with a continued sense of awe and admiration, Bridges' refusal to fit a mold on-screen might be the very thing that has kept him from becoming a conventional movie star. It's also the thing that has kept his work so fascinating, and so brilliant.
