Ricky Gervais is hosting the Golden Globe Awards this Sunday, January 10, but first he taught Conan O'Brien and Andy Richter how to play a so-dumb-it's-hilarious game called "A--hole Or Elbow." Ricky said, despite the insult "don't know your a-- from your elbow," his elbow and his own butt look pretty similar. To prove it, he took a close-up photo of his elbow and cropped it so it looked like it could be his butt. He kept taking photos on the couch and things got Really gross, but also really funny. Andy volunteered his own elbow as tribute and Ricky took a double-flap photo. Ricky said he and his friend...

Elbow just scored their first No. 1 in the U.K. this month, with their sixth studio album "The Take Off And Landing Of Everything," which has also become one of their best-selling sets in the U.S. The music itself contains as much up and down as the title suggests, even with the rock troupe's many successes; it's more about personal failures and regrets, sarcasm and lunacy, and -- sure -- a some triumph and optimism. Produced by the band keyboardist Craig Potter, "The Take Off" now leaps up from No. 109 to No. 83 on the Billboard 200 this week. The group will be touring the U.S. May 12 through May 28, with several dates already sold out. Having previously interviewed frontman Guy Garvey, it's apparent Elbow are thankful for any success they've seen. With this release, I spoke to Potter, who also feels that shaking things up in the studio still has...

Elbow have revealed that they won't perform their Olympics song 'First Steps' live. The band, whose track will serve as the official song for the BBC's Games coverage, said they didn't want to confuse fans at their live shows. Keyboard player Craig Potter told The Daily Star: "We didn't want it to be confused with a regular Elbow song so we've got other voices on there. The song is about the Olympic spirit, not Elbow, so we won't play it live. "Guy had really strong ideas about capturing the spirit of (more)...

Elbow's Craig Potter has revealed plans for the band to perform a "huge" new song at the Isle Of Wight Festival this weekend. The group will precede headliner Tom Petty on the main stage on Friday evening (June 22) and have promised fans they will debut material from their next album. Talking about the new song, Potter told the Daily Star: "We're hoping to play it at Isle Of Wight as it's shaping up to be one of the big songs on our next album. "It's got huge guitars and it's quite psychedelic. I'm not sure if it's a future single, but it sounds the kind of song which will (more)...

As the line up was so vast and varied, and as performances were listed to begin on Thursday with doors opening at 8am on Wednesday, I took the Wednesday to Friday off from work, piled my tent, clothes, and snacks into the car, and drove down to Somerset to make sure I found myself a space in the queue for parking, and then to find myself a suitable place to pitch my tent ready for the next 4 nights.
Having been a festival go’er for a number of years I...
