Cricket Unfiltered notches up a significant milestone next week celebrating its 10 year anniversary on August 21st. The podcast was founded in 2013 by Andrew Menczel (aka Menners) and was the first ever regular weekly cricket podcast in Australia and was a pioneering show for all sports podcasts.
The show started as The Australian Cricket Podcast with hosts Andrew Menczel, James MacSmith and Joe Karsay and then rebranded as 'Cricket Unfiltered' in 2017.
Menners began the show because he felt Aussie cricket podcast fans needed a show about their team because the only cricket podcasts were mainly concerned with the old enemy, England! Menners on starting the show "I went on an English cricket podcast and I thought Aussie fans deserve a podcast! I have always wanted to do a great show for cricket fans and especially fans of the Aussie cricket team".

New Delhi, Feb 25 (Ians) Former Australia cricketer Greg Chappell stated that fans back home are extremely disappointed over the visitors losing the first two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy inside three days and has urged the side to showcase their usual grit and tenacity in the last two matches.
After losing the first Test by an innings and 132 runs in Nagpur inside three days, Australia lost the second Test to India by six wickets in New Delhi, which meant their chances of winning the Test series came to an end as India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“What can Australia do from here? Firstly, pick their best team and then play with the passion, tenacity and grit which is our hallmark. Australian fans know that it is tough in India.”
“They can accept getting beaten by a better side, but they won’t cop seeing an Australian team playing recklessly...

New Delhi, Feb 25 (Ians) Former Australia cricket captain Greg Chappell slammed the current team think-tank for being 2-0 behind in their ongoing Test tour of India, pointing out that the visitors made blunders by not picking their best team and batters basing their game on only one shot.
Australia can’t win the Test series in India after going 2-0 behind in the four-match series. After losing the first Test by an innings and 132 runs in Nagpur, the visitors lost the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test by six wickets in New Delhi. They will now play their third Test in Indore, starting from March 1.
“The Australian think-tank has made two major blunders: they didn’t pick their best team and they based their batting attack on one shot. With Cameron Green, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood injured for the first two Tests, the Australians were hamstrung, but the basic premise...

New Delhi, Feb 4 (Ians) Former Australia cricketer Greg Chappell believes the Pat Cummins-led side will have to put their best foot forward in terms of talent and experience during the upcoming four-match series against India as succeeding in the country will take a lot of pluck, planning, patience and persistence.
Australia and India, currently ranked number one and two respectively in both Icc Men’s Test Team Rankings and the ongoing Icc World Test Championship 2023 cycle, will meet in a highly-anticipated four-match series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be held in Nagpur (February 9-13), New Delhi (February 17-21), Dharamshala (March 1-5) and Ahmedabad (March 9-13).
India are the current holder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, having won the last three series against Australia in 2017, 2018-19 and 2020-21. Australia, on the other hand, are aiming to win a Test series in India after having done so last time in 2004.

Perth, Dec 3 (Ians) Captain Kraigg Brathwaite smashed a sensational century to lead his team’s fightback and inject some hope for a win against Australia on the fourth day of the first Test at Optus Stadium, here on Saturday.
West Indies, who have been on the back foot for the major part of this Test match, now need 306 runs on the final day to win the match with seven wickets in hand. They were 192/3 off 62 overs at stumps on Day 4 with Kraigg Brathwaite (101) and Kyle Mayers (0) not out at the crease.
Beginning the day, Marnus Labuschagne continued to hurt the West Indies. While David Warner (48) failed to score big, Labuschagne took on the West Indies attack and hit a flurry of boundaries to bring his century in quick time just before the lunch break.
Australia declared their second innings at 182/2 off 37 overs at lunch with Labuschagne (104 not out) and Steven Smith (20) at the crease.

Melbourne, Sep 27 (Ians) Australia wicket-keeper and middle-order batter Matthew Wade could be their choice for skipper for the Icc T20 World Cup at home next month, should regular skipper Aaron Finch suffer an injury or his string of poor scores continues, said a report in Sydney Morning Herald on Tuesday.
Wade, who is currently not in Cricket Australia’s contracted list, was first tipped to lead the Kangaroos when Finch missed a T20 game against India at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 2020, but his reported disciplinary record went against him at that time, despite him being a “seasoned state captain” and “one of the most critical members of the side”.
Wade’s name has cropped up at a time when another seasoned cricketer, David Warner is being talked about as someone who can fill up the captaincy slot in the Australian One-day International side left vacant by Finch’s recent retirement.

Melbourne, Sep 14 (Ians) Even as legendary Australian cricketers, including Allan Border and Greg Chappell have recently demanded the leadership role ban on batting stalwart David Warner be lifted to allow him to captain the national side in ODIs or in the Big Bash League (Bbl), former wicket-keeping great Ian Healy feels it’s not such a great idea.
Three Australian cricketers — the then-skipper Steve Smith, his deputy Warner and Cameron Bancroft — were banned from playing international and domestic cricket for varying periods not exceeding a year in the aftermath of the 2018 ball-tampering scandal during the Test series in South Africa, which came to be known as the ‘sandpaper-gate scandal’.
The episode that happened during the Cape Town Test in 2018, not only prompted CA to ban the trio, but also barred Smith from taking up leadership role for two years, while Warner was banned from any such role for the rest of his professional life.

New Delhi, Sep 10 (Ians) Bcci president and former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has lavished praise on Virat Kohli, saying that the star batter is “more skilful” than him as a player.
Kohli, who went through a dry run of form, recently rediscovered his lost mojo during the Asia Cup 2022, where he hit his first international century after 1020 days. His ton (122 not out) versus Afghanistan was his first in the 20-over format as he touched the three-figure score in nearly three years – his last hundred coming in a Test match against Bangladesh in November 2019.
Notably, both Ganguly and Kohli played an aggressive brand of cricket as captains but the current Bcci president feels captaincy should not be compared.
“I don’t think that (captaincy) should be the comparison… The comparison should be in terms of skill as a player. I think he is more skilful than I’m,” Ganguly said of...

Sydney, Jan 16 (Ians) Former Australia skipper Greg Chappell has urged Tim Paine to set satisfactory standards of behaviour against visiting teams after the current Australia skipper was heavily criticised for his on-field chatter with R Ashwin during the Sydney Test this week.
Chappell, in a column for Sydney Morning Herald, recalled the underarm bowling incident from 40 years ago to drive home his point.
Chappell, the then Aussie captain, had asked his brother Trevor to bowl underarm to ensure the New Zealand batsmen were unable to hit a six off the last ball in one of the tri-series finals in 1981. It was a move deemed against the spirit of the game.
Chappell said that the backlash was too much for him and his family, and taught him a lesson.
Paine found himself in a similar position in Sydney when his on-field chatter on Monday with Ashwin got severely criticised on the social media.

New Delhi, Dec 16 (Ians) In one of the scenes of docuseries, The Test, which documents Australia's emergence out of the 2018 ball-tampering scandal and shows the non-aggressive, soft side of the team, Tim Paine is shown telling his teammates to completely ignore Virat Kohli during India's 2018-19 tour of Australia. The Australia captain asks them to not engage him. Paine, however, himself falls for it and indulges in chatter in the second Test Perth after being tempted into it by the India skipper.
Two years later, Paine says he is not one for run-ins but he won't hold back if tempted in the Test series that starts with a day-nighter in Adelaide on Thursday.
"Certainly, we don't go in planning to have run-ins or be overly aggressive or anything like that. We just go out there to execute our plans firstly with bat and ball, and at times...

New Delhi, Dec 15 (Ians) Former Australia skipper Allan Border and current Australia coach Justin Langer have acknowledged the contribution of the Indian Premier League in breaking the ice between the Indian and Australian players and ensuring the game is played in the right spirit.
The two teams will take on each other in the four-Test series beginning Thursday at the Adelaide Oval.
The rivalry was always competitive but there was a clash of cultures earlier, Border acknowledged.
"I think Sunny (Sunil Gavaskar) talked about (in a media article) that there was always a little bit of clash, clash of cultures between Australians and Indians. We play the game a certain way, we are brought up to play the game in an aggressive manner. We use swear words a lot in our natural conversation without meaning anything by it. Sydney, Dec 11 (Ians) Team India skipper Virat Kohli doesn't believe in passive resistance and wants to dominate the opposition, says former Australia skipper Greg Chappell.
In a column for The Sydney Morning Herald, Chappell says that Kohli is the most "Australian non-Australian cricketer" of all time.
"Virat Kohli does not believe in passive resistance. He is a proponent of all-out aggression. His idea is to dominate the opposition," writes Chappell.
"He embodies the new India. As the premier player and captain of the world's pre-eminent cricket power, he feels an abiding responsibility to the wider game," he adds.
Chappell, who served as the head coach of the Indian team from 2005 to 2007, further says that the talismanic Indian batsman has a broad perspective on the game. "He (Kohli) is aware of his personal record, but that is not his focus. Winning games for India is way more important to him and...
