BAFTA Breakthrough is a wonderful Netflix-supported initiative that celebrates the very best of young talent. In its 10th year, the alumni boasts the likes of Florence Pugh, Tom Holland and Letitia Wright – and this year comes a whole host of exciting new names. One of which caught our eye especially, which is Vivian Oparah, who shone in Peckham-set rom-com Rye Lane, which enamoured viewers with its spring-time release. We discuss what it means to her to be named as a BAFTA Breakthrough artist, and naturally we look back to Rye Lane, to talk about shooting the film, and the lasting, indelible impact it has left. She also looks ahead to a future that we’re gonna consider pretty damn bright.

Carlos Alcaraz has a busy off-season schedule which includes stops in Latin America and the Middle East before he embarks on his trip to Australia for the 2024 season.
The Spaniard has been promoting the upcoming exhibition event in Mexico City where he is scheduled to face American Tommy Paul at the Plaza de Toros Monumental de México, the same venue that held Rafael Nadal and Casper Ruud's multi-city tour of Latin America last year.
Tickets are now on sale on the tournament's website at the TennisFest Gnp. Alcaraz's popularity with Spanish-speaking Mexican tennis fans is guaranteed to fill up the world's largest bull ring, commonly known as La Plaza Mexico, which can hold up to 55,000 spectators in one sitting.
Last year marked the first edition of the TennisFest Gnp exhibition tournament where Nadal and Ruud played the first singles match of the event in front of 40,000 exuberant fans that were packed to the rafters.

We all have that one friend. Or relative, or coworker, or ex. Some people, no matter how much you love them, can be exhausting — their own stubborn immaturity hindering the way they live life and build relationships.
In Randall Park’s “Shortcomings,” Justin H. Min plays Ben, a character with a laundry list of exactly what the film’s name invokes and exactly zero awareness of about it. He’s apathetic and irascible with his long-term girlfriend Miko (Ally Maki), self-absorbed with best friend Alice (Sherry Cola), and utterly complacent in his job as manager of a local movie theater, which is hanging on by a thread.
Based on the graphic novel by Adrian Tomine, “Shortcomings” is the directorial debut of Park and premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Tomine wrote the screenplay, which bursts with visceral, heartfelt dialogue; the jokes sound like those issued from carefree friends,...

When she decides to move to New York to pursue an internship, Ben experiences a personal crisis. Perhaps humbly anticipating a slightly less prestigious premiere than in competition at Sundance, Randall Park’s “Shortcomings” opens with an amusingly broad parody of “Crazy Rich Asians” (starring original cast member Ronnie Chieng alongside Stephanie Hsu) playing at a Berkeley-based Asian American film festival. As the credits roll, the audience hoot and holler their approval — all except for struggling Japanese American filmmaker Ben (Justin H. Min), who wears the pained expression of a man passing a kidney stone. In the lobby with his girlfriend, Miko (Ally Maki), who works for the festival, Ben is asked what he thinks by the ebullient director of the film. Struggling for a diplomacy that we soon learn does not come naturally, Ben leads with “It’s … quite the event.”
“Shortcomings,” in its way, is also quite the event. A fresh-faced, funny directorial debut from the ever-engaging Park, who starred in “Fresh off the Boat” and “Always Be My Maybe,...

Tel Aviv (Israel), Oct 2 (Ians) Top seeds Indian-Dutch duo of Rohan Bopanna and Matwe Middelkoop won their first Atp Tour title as a team on Sunday when they defeated third seeds Santiago Gonzalez and Andres Molteni 6-2, 6-4 in the final of the Tel Aviv Open, here.
“It feels really good of course. You know you’re on the right path and this gives you that extra cherry on top, I feel,” Middelkoop said.
“Not even [winning the title] title, I think the way we played today showed what we are capable of and I think that’s the most important thing for me, what I take out of this day,” he added.
Bopanna and Middelkoop rallied from a set down and clawed through a second-set tie-break to force a Match Tie-break in their first three matches in Israel. But they brought their best tennis in the final, powering through in straight sets...
