Heads up, fans of Asian action films because upcoming Malaysian effort looks to be one you'll want to keep an eye out for. Zul Azhar directs Zul Ariffin, Izara Aishah, Fazura, Farid Kamil, Azad Jazmin, Iedil Putra, Peter Davis and Omar Abdullah in this police thriller that seems to jam a bit of everything into the just released teaser. Tactical assault, hand to hand combat, a high speed gun battle on motorcycles ... there's a whole lot in here and it certainly appears as though they've done it all rather well. This is just a first teaser leading up to a 2017 release but Malaysia has proven to have a strong audience for action films in recent years, leading to a rapid rise in production...

Australian VFX supervisor Seth Larney (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and Malaysia’s Nasir Jani are co-directing Malaysian action thriller Tombiruo, based on the best-selling novel by Ramlee Awang Murshid.
Produced by Malaysia’s Astro Shaw, Ideate Media, Karangkraf and Layar Sunan, the film has also tapped Us-based 42 Entertainment to work on character design. 42 Entertainment has created games and immersive experiences for Us studio movies including Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Dark Knight and Tron Legacy.
According to Astro Shaw vice president, business development, Najwa Abu Bakar, the movie is being positioned for audiences beyond Malaysia, with the mix of Us, Australian and Southeast Asian talent.

Malaysia’s Astro Shaw is bringing a slate of new productions to Afm, headed by sci-fi road comedy Nova, as it ramps up production with an eye on international markets. Nova, about a filmmaker who convinces his friends to chase UFOs across Malaysia, recently received its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival. The film is directed by Nik Amir Mustapha, whose debut feature Kil won best film, screenplay and supporting actress at the Malaysian Screen Awards 2013. Nova’s ensemble cast includes Bront Palarae and Amerul Affendi, who both had roles in hit action movie Bunohan, and Iedil Putra (Kl Zombie). Malaysian director Mamat Khalid whose best known for his comedies is making the jump to sci-fi actioner with Apokalips X. Based loosely on the Japanese gangster film Crow Zero but with a genre mash-up twist, it stars Farid Kamil and a mixed cast in a post apocalyptic setting where there's plenty of reckless gang-related mayhem. After acting in the first Remp-It film, actor Farid Kamil found an opportunity to direct the Remp-It V3 or V3 Samseng Jalanan, an action packed movie that has a mixed influence by Western film Torque. The movie also stars Bront Palarae, an actor known for his role in 2007 Dukun, a horror movie based on a true story. Rempt in V3 tells the story of a character named Rudy (Farid Kamil) and his best friend Brett (Palarae) who gets tangled in a big problem. While racing with their motorcycle buddies one night, their friend Sha and Liza are killed in an accident. Not know to Rudy and Brett. Shah also possessed some illegal drugs that were recently taken.
