Once again, fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will have to wait a little while longer. Developers have pushed back the game a couple more months.
I know...I shouldn't be bummed. A game delay typically means the final product is really good, and worth the wait. Still, I can't help but feel a little saddened. This is the second delay the Jrpg sequel has been hit with (we'd be playing it already if it'd stuck to its initial date), but once again, it's not a major one. It's moving back just a couple months from the January 19th, slot, and will now arrive on March 23, 2018.
Level-5 President and CEO, Akihiro Hino, announced the delay with this letter to the fans:
Hello Ni no Kuni fans,
As you all know, Level-5 is committed to delivering the highest levels of design and quality in each of our titles.

It is with great sorrow I have to report that this morning, Bandai Namco announced Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will not be arriving this year as originally announced. Fortunately, the delay is only by a couple months...Come inside to see the developer's explanation!
I know that game delays are typically for the best, and almost always result in a significantly better game...but that doesn't mean I have to like it! This is especially true in regards to Ni No Kuni II, a sequel I've been waiting for since 2013 to one of my favorite RPGs ever.
As such, even this short two month delay, pushing it from November to January 19, 2018, feels like a bummer. Overall, it's a good thing since the Fall is already getting super crowded, but I'm going to mope about it today anyway!

Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom, Level-5’s gorgeous RPG sequel, will launch for both PS4 and PC in 2017.
News of a PC version was made official earlier this morning, though publisher Bandai Namco refrained from divulging the game’s release date. When asked about the decision to bring Ni No Kuni II to PC platforms, Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino revealed to GameSpot that “having a PC version means the game is more accessible for everyone overseas.”
Following the landmark success of Wrath of the White Witch four years ago, Level-5 has doubled down on its commitment to expand the Ni No Kuni brand across international markets. Plans are in place for Revenant Kingdom to launch simultaneously for Japanese and western audiences later this year, with Hino-san going on to reveal that, “from a localization point of view we’re really making it as straightforward as possible for players of all cultures to understand.

Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island has a bit of a strange twin in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask. According to a report by Gematsu, Level-5 Games — the creative mind behind last year’s wonderful, Studio Ghibli-inspired RPG, Ni No Kuni — is gearing up to reveal a new title for the PlayStation 4.
The tease was made during the studio’s livestream of White Knight Chronicles II, where boss Akihiro Hino revealed that Level-5 is indeed planning to lift the curtain on a brand new game in time for E3 2015.
Unfortunately, it was a vague, off the cuff quip from the company head, but Hino did state that he hopes the as-yet-unknown title will be an epic experience that will be bigger in scope than White Knight Chronicles — which would be no mean feat, given that the PlayStation 3 RPG contained around 100 hours of gameplay.
Alas, it’s unclear whether Level-5’s next title will be exclusive to PlayStation 4. Given that Ni No Kuni: Wraith of the White Witch was exclusive...

During today’s Nintendo Direct video broadcast, Level 5′s CEO Akihiro Hino announced the sixth, and final, Professor Layton game. The 3Ds game, called Professor Layton Chobunmei to A no Isan by Joystiq, is set for a 2013 release in Japan.
The broadcast also revealed a short gameplay trailer, which showed all of the traditional Layton traits, including the usual mix of puzzles and cutscenes. Plus, as expected, the titular character was shown chatting to locals who refused to assist in his investigation, unless either he or one of his assistants (currently confirmed are returning protagonists Luke Triton and Emmy Altava) could solve one of their fiendish puzzles.
Although there is no official word on a western localisation, you can be fairly confident it will see a release over here in late 2014 or early 2015. After all, the series’ previous entries were released over here around 18 months after their inaugural Japanese releases occurred,...

Just yesterday I posted a trailer for one of the most beautiful games in development Ni no Kuni. Well it seems today we have some good news to report about the game; it will be released in North America early next year. This game is a pretty big deal because it is the first game ever made by the great Studio Ghibli (Castle in the Sky, Howl’s Moving Castle,Spirited Away, ect..). The game will be released exclusively to the PS3 by Level-5, the people behind the Professor Layton series.
“During a Sony Computer Entertainment Asia press conference near Tokyo Game Show 2011′s venue, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino today mentioned during an interview panel that an English version of the game is in production, and confirmed its release window.”
Here is a quick description of what this game is all about:

Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino has revealed through Twitter that work has begun on the sixth game in the Professor Layton series. No platform was specified for the new instalment, though the series has previously been loyal to Nintendo's handhelds. The first four titles appeared on the Nintendo DS, with the most recent game, Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracles, releasing in Japan as a 3Ds launch title. Professor Layton games tend to take a while to release outside of Japan, with only the first three released so far in Europe and North America. The most recent of those, (more)...

In an interview with Nintendo Power, Level-5 president Akihiro Hino confirmed that Ni no Kuni: The Another World, the game his company made with well-respected animation house Studio Ghibli, would definitely be released in the states. In addition to that, they will issue a version of their soccer title Inazuma Eleven.
Hino hinted that the games would be released soon but gave no specific dates. In case you missed my last post about Ni no Kuni, I’ve embedded the incredible looking trailer for the PS3 version below.

As Game Rant wrote last week, Level-5 announced a new game in the newest issue of Famitsu. The developers of Professor Layton and White Knight Chronicles‘ new game is being called Time Traveler, no announced platform, and relatively few details, but at least it isn’t a baseball game like I was guessing. All we can really say about the game’s details is that time travel is involved in some manner, it will be relatively large in scale. A piece of concept art apparently shows a young girl standing at the top of a clock tower, peering out over a ruined city, so take what you can from that. The most exciting bit of information comes from this quote from Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino:
“[Time Travelers will be] Centered on hardware that’s not yet in this world, it will expand to other hardware.”
How mysterious! The general internet consensus is that...

Level-5, developers of Professor Layton, Inazuma Eleven, the upcoming Dragon Quest IX, and a number of other great games, is planning on announcing a new project next week. Initially thought to be a reannouncement of baseball series of games in the vein of Inazuma Eleven, Level-5 has since stated that is not the case. The new project will be announced in an upcoming issue of Famitsu.
Here’s a quote from Level-5’s CEO Akihiro Hino Twitter account:
“Next week, Level-5’s new project will at long last be announced in Famitsu. I wonder if everyone will look forward to this title. But, for the title this time, perhaps it will be first anticipated by game fans.”
Hmm, it seems like that translation could use some work, but I’m hoping it means we can look forward to a great new game from Level-5! As a huge fan of their games,...
