Better Call Saul‘s final season marks the conclusion of executive producer Melissa Bernstein’s 15-year journey that began with Breaking Bad‘s pilot shoot in 2007. The celebrated AMC drama about the rise and fall of Walter White (Bryan Cranston) paved the way for the Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman-led (Bob Odenkirk) prequel-sequel series Better Call Saul and the Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul)-centric sequel movie El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019).
Considering that Breaking Bad narrowly survived the 2007-08 WGA strike with perennial low ratings until a late series Netflix bump, Bernstein remains astonished that Vince Gilligan’s mayhem-filled show went on to spawn what could be the most well-crafted shared universe to date. “It just feels like lightning in a bottle that lasted a really long time,” says Bernstein. “We’ve all pinched ourselves into bruising.”

Bob Odenkirk has gotten a new lease on life — and a newly reinvigorated acting approach.
In July 2021, the “Better Call Saul” star collapsed on set and suffered a heart attack. “Better Call Saul” health safety supervisor, Rosa Estrada, and assistant director, Angie Meyer, administered CPR and hooked Odenkirk up to an automated defibrillator. It took three tries to “get that rhythm back” in his heart after 18 minutes, as Odenkirk previously explained.
During a new interview with NPR, the “Breaking Bad” alum revealed how the life-or-death experience affected his career. “I came out of it with a strangely fresh energy towards my whole life, like I was born again,” Odenkirk said. “Like, ‘Hey, everybody! Let’s go back to work and make stuff!’”
Odenkirk added, “It made it even easier, much easier to be in the moment of looking at the world almost like you just woke up and don’t remember anything.

If watching “Better Call Saul” teaches you to focus on the little things, the same goes for directing it.
After more than five seasons of playing lawyer for all clients and ascendant schemer Kim Wexler, Rhea Seehorn took her turn in the director’s chair for the Season 6 episode “Hit and Run.” It’s an hour of paranoia and trust and setbacks and fear and a glimmer of hope, all wrapped up into one.
On a visual and emotional level, it took as much planning as Kim and Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) put into each step of their evolving plans for staying afloat in their connected personal and professional lives. True to series’ form, “Hit and Run” is a balance of the cosmic and the intimate, pairing long-brewing plans to ruin careers with thoughtful character touches along the way.

There will be no more meth-making in the middle of the desert, at least for now.
That’s essentially the word from Better Call Saul co-creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould tonight at the show’s season 6A premiere in Hollywood.
For the last few months, Gilligan has been breaking story on a new series, but says, “I haven’t told my wife about it.”
“It’s something really different,” the 4x Emmy winner says about his new TV series which will definitely be a departure from the crime thriller loaded world of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.
“It’s a remake of Trapper John, M.D.” laughed Gilligan. The inside joke there being that he and Gould discussed heavily the spinoffs of M.A.S.H. (including After M.A.S.H.) when creating Better Call Saul. Essentially what you should and should not do when coming off of a hit series.

After filming six seasons of “Better Call Saul,” Bob Odenkirk is ready to part ways with his iconic sleazy attorney alter ego.
The “Breaking Bad” spinoff concludes later this year, and while Odenkirk described moving on from the role as “challenging,” he also admitted there is a sense of freedom to it.
“I always used to scoff and roll my eyes at actors who say, ‘It’s so hard.’ Really? It can’t be,” Odenkirk told The New York Times of taking on a dramatic role. “[But] the truth is that you use your emotions, and you use your memories, you use your hurt feelings and losses, and you manipulate them, dig into them, dwell on them. A normal adult doesn’t walk around doing that, going, ‘What was the worst feeling of abandonment I’ve had in my life? Let me just gaze at that for the next week and a half,...

In a new interview with The New York Times, Bob Odenkirk spoke in detail for the first time about the heart attack he suffered on the set of “Better Call Saul” last summer in Albuquerque, N.M. The Emmy nominee collapsed on set July 27, 2021 shortly after filming and was rushed to the hospital. Odenkirk took to social media on Aug. 7 to confirm he had “a small heart attack” and to assure fans he was feeling better.
“I’d known since 2018 that I had this plaque buildup in my heart,” Odenkirk told the Times about his medical emergency. “I went to two heart doctors at Cedars-Sinai, and I had dye and an M.R.I. and all that stuff, and the doctors disagreed.”
One doctor told Odenkirk he should start medication and the other doctor said he could wait. Odenkirk chose to listen to the latter. All was fine with Odenkirk...

Miss USA is accused of crowning around. In a kerfuffle that hints at one of the pageant world's idiosyncrasies, a "well-placed" source says newly crowned Miss USA Nia Sanchez, representing Nevada, faked her residency there in order to avoid stiffer competition in her home state of California. "She never actually moved to Nevada, but continued to work at Disney and live in California, setting up some minimum paper trail to appear like she was in Nevada and allow her to compete," the source tells Fox News. Indeed, Sanchez competed three times for the Miss California USA crown - in 2010, 2011 and...

Washington, Dec 9: Speculations are rife that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West might be on their way out in the public eye because of their supposedly "fake and materialistic nature".
California-based PR expert, Angie Meyer-Olszewski, told Fox News that when two egotistical, self-serving individuals are put together, a vile spark is created.
Meyer-Olszewski asserted that in times of economic hardship across the country, bragging about materialism is typically frowned upon.
She added that the Kardashian brand is a sinking ship and anybody who jumps on board will eventually fall.
Moreover, human behavior.

Hollywood and politics seem to go hand in hand these days. With hoards of Tinseltown's biggest names thrusting their clout behind President Barack Obama, sometimes it is easy to forget that Hollywood does have Republican supporters, and some notable stars may very likely vote for Mitt Romney come November.
The most recent superstar to make headlines for her presumed Republican support is none other than Nicki Minaj. The Harajuku Barbie recently caused a stir after the release of Lil Wayne's "Mercy," in which she raps: "I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney / You lazy b----es is f---ing up the economy."
Though the singer has neither confirmed nor denied her intention to vote for Romney, Minaj's words caused a media frenzy, with people questioning whether she was sincere, or whether the lyrics were just one of her alter-ego Roman's jokes.

#49. The Playroom - Julia Dyer Having John Hawkes cast in your film doesn't assure a playdate in Park City, but Hawkes plus having shown your first film (Late Bloomers) at the film festival way back in 1996 might help in spades to receive a sophomore showing showcase which would be the case for Julia Dyer's The Playroom. If included, this would surely be included in the U.S Dramatic Comp. Gist: Four children in their attic hideaway make up a fantastic story, while downstairs their parents weave a drunken intrigue of their own. In a lyrical but gripping dual narrative, the story of the children’s life intertwines with the story they make up about their life–until the two stories collide and the delicate family structure collapses. Perso, we think the Q&A segments of beauty pageants are the most illuminating...and it's also where the contestants seem to get into the most trouble (exempli gratia: Miss California Carrie Prejean's defense of "opposite marriage" at Miss USA back in 2009).
FoxNews.com's "Pop Tarts" reports that this year's Miss USA hopefuls are being asked the tough questions in on-camera interviews for the event's website -- whether evolution should be taught in classrooms and if they'd pose for nude photographs -- prompting certain mouthpieces to wonder if the pageant is pushing for a Prejean repeat.
Publicist Angie Meyer told Fox News, "The pageant officials are intimidating contestants into answering questions a certain way that are deemed 'politically correct' while discriminating against their own belief and opinions." Keith Lewis, the executive state pageant director for California, New York and New Hampshire, added, "The girls are scared to death. They...

But in all of the fanfare, one story in particular seems to have ruffled a few feathers. “The Incident”, a story written by Batman Begins scribe David S. Goyer, involves Superman traveling to Tehran to non-violently support protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime, giving us one of those “art imitating real-life” moments that attempts to ground the stories in reality. Unfortunately, the President’s national security advisor is furious, because as an American icon, this action – no matter how innocent and well-meaning – could be construed as an act of war by the American government. Superman then goes before the United Nations to renounce his American citizenship, becoming a “global icon”, rather than having his actions speak for America. “I'm tired of having my actions construed as instruments of U.S. policy," says Superman. "Truth, justice, and the American way -- it's not enough anymore." A bold move, and as far as I’m concerned,...

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 48 hours I assume you’ve heard the news: In a short story written by David S. Goyer that appeared in this month’s Action Comics #900 titled, The Incident, Superman renounced his U.S. Citizenship. If you haven’t read the issue, here’s what happened: Superman decides to go to Iran and participate in a peaceful protest. This doesn’t go over well with the Iranian Government, because they see Superman as an extension of the President of the United States, and his actions are considered an act of war which almost leads to all kinds of messiness. Realizing that his world image is so closely tied with the U.S. Government, Superman says, “Screw it. I’m out.” No, not literally. The real exchange actually goes down like this:
[Above: Superman renounces U.S. citizenship; President sh!ts himself.]
Big stuff, right? It’s certainly a historic moment for the character,...

The Miss Universe organisation has come under fire over a topless photo shoot involving the contestants. Photographer Fadil Berisha did the official photo shoot in Las Vegas, where several of the contestants posed topless and in body paint. “It's alarming that this has been turned into a playboy-esque masquerade,” Fox News quoted Angie Meyer, who has worked closely with the Miss USA contestants and the organisation in past years, as saying. “When you bring nudity into the equation, the pageant no longer becomes about the entire package of brains and beauty. Rather, the focus shifts to body image. The notion that ‘beauty’ ...
