A biopic chronicling the life and career of iconic singer Whitney Houston is coming to Lifetime in January, and ETonline has an exclusive look at Yaya DaCosta's powerful performance as the music legend.
In the clip, fans get a closer look at DaCosta's portrayal of the seven-time Grammy winner as she records the chart-topping single, "I'm Your Baby Tonight." A happier version of Houston--working on her third studio album--is seen in the studio.
Photos: Stars Who've Played Real Life Icons
While DaCosta looks convincing as Houston, it's singer Deborah Cox who is actually heard on the 1990 single, which was re-recorded specifically for the film. "Angela [Bassett], who is a friend, approached me about singing a few songs," Cox tells Billboard of being asked to fill in for the late-singer on "I'm Every Woman," "I Will Always Love You," and "Greatest Love of All." "Obviously, the best-case scenario would be to use Whitney’s voice. But we’re all...

It isn't easy playing Ugly Betty's scheming, nasty Wilhelmina Slater — especially at the beginning of Season 4, when she's lost her man, her baby and her job. But Vanessa Williams is glad that Willy doesn't always get her way, as it helps explain why she's so guarded. Williams tells us how Willy will deal with her setbacks, why the arrival of her daughter, Nico (America's Next Top Model's Yaya DaCosta), will distract her and what Willy and Betty have in common.

There's certainly a lot to be excited about on the new season of Ugly Betty, and here's another thing we can add to that list. Reports have it that America's Next Top Model Cycle 3 runner-up YaYa DaCosta has been pegged for a role in the hit comedy series.
Broadway World reports that the actress, who isn't famous just for facing off with Tyra Banks, will be taking over the role of Nico for the ABC show. The character was previously played by Jowharah Jones in earlier seasons of Ugly Betty, but it's going to DaCosta now.

Paula Abdul won't be making a move to "Ugly Betty" after all. The Los Angeles Times reported ABC has confirmed exclusively on Sunday, August 16, that talks between the network and the former "American Idol" judge have fallen apart, resulting in her out from the guest stars' list of the comedy drama series' season four.
Following the confirmation, TMZ came up with speculation on one of the reasons behind the talk break-down, pointing out that Paula still thinks there's a chance she'll return to "Idol". Going further with another speculation, the site suggested that the 47-year-old was upset at the series' producers for leaking the news she was talking to them about doing the show.
Days earlier, Paula Abdul has been reported to be in talks with the Alphabet to have a guest star appearance in the fourth season of "Ugly Betty". For her TV role, she was expected to portray a new temp at Mode,...

Paula Abdul is making a rebound from her "American Idol" departure by nabbing a role on ABC sitcom "Ugly Betty". There have been a couple of confirmations from EW and E! Online that Paula indeed is in talks to have a guest star appearance later in the fourth season.
According to EW, the role that she will tackle will be a new temp at Mode. She will bond with the company's secretary, Amanda. Paula has not yet given her comment about this, but she said on Monday, August 10 that she has been making rounds. "I've got a busy week filled with network meetings. I'm looking forward to all the new projects up ahead," she wrote on her Twitter.
Should this stint is true, then Paula could be making a transition to ABC. The network's President Stephen McPherson previously said during TV Critics Association press tour that they would love to...

Somewhere Tyra Banks is smiling. Polarizing America's Next Top Model alum Yaya Dacosta—she was cycle 3's runner-up—has been tapped to take over the recurring role of Wilhelmina's defiant daughter Nico on Ugly Betty, sources confirm to me exclusively. The character—originated by Jowharah Jones—resurfaces in the Oct. 9 season premiere and promptly gets caught up in one of the show's new mysteries. Dacosta's previous acting credits include All My Children and that forgettable dance movie with Antonio Banderas. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being "ugh, she was an arrogant snot on Top Model!" and 10 being "woo-hoo, I knew she was destined for greatness!"), what do you give this recast? More Ugly Betty Scoop Sopranos' Meadow is Daniel's new assistant!
