Monterey Media has acquired U.S. and Canada rights to The Pardon, which follows the true story of Toni Jo Henry (Jaime King), a woman tried three times and executed in 1942 Louisiana. After her dashing boxer husband Cowboy Henry (Jason Lewis) is sent to prison, Toni Jo embarks on an ill-fated mission with Cowboy’s partner Arkie (Oscar-nominated actor John Hawkes). A grisly murder and a series of sensational trials where Toni Jo pleads her innocence instantly turn her into a celebrity of the day. The Pardon is directed by Tom Anton and was co-written by Sandi Russell and Anton. The acquisition deal was negotiated between Shoreline Entertainment’s Sam Eigen & Brian Sweet, and Monterey Media’s Scott Mansfield. A late spring theatrical release is planned.
