And it's almost comma inducing. No the folks at Lionsgate aren't throwing punches in the battle over October 22nd, when 'Saw 7' filmed entirely in 3D will go against a sequel to last years juggernaut, 'Paranormal Activity 2'. But that isn't stopping our friend, director Kevin Greutert, from giving the fans something to chew on, albeit it scraps...
Does anyone else feel sorry for poor Greutert here. He last directed 'Saw 6' thought he was done with Jigsaw. Is announced to direct 'Paranormal Activity 2' a new rival franchise. Is very excited to do the project and the execs hold him to his contract not allowing him to opt out, thus he was forced to direct 'Saw 7 3D" or 'Saw 3D" whatever we will eventually call it.
Take that and add to it no real excitement besides the "entirely in 3D" factor and you gotta think...

Blu-Ray Rating: 2.0/5.0 Chicago – The latest entry in the neverending Saw franchise, “Saw V” hit Blu-Ray this week and, well, it’s a little difficult to review. The video and audio are better-than-average, but the features are sub-par at best and, the movie, well, it’s basically exactly what you’d expect it to be. There’s a reason they hold these movies back from critics. Reviews of the actual film barely seem to matter.
After covering each “Saw” release on its theatrical and home market release, what more is there to say? You know by now if you like “Saw” movies or not. If you do, the Blu-Ray release of “Saw V” will satisfy.
If you’re blissfully unaware of the work of Tobin Bell and Darren Lynn Bousman and wondering what this “Saw” thing is all about, watch the underrated first movie but leave the sequels to the fans.

Having sat through all of the Saw sequels, I am happy to say Saw V is arguably the best one I've seen. That's faint praise, however, because I still think it is pretty darn pointless and not really worth the time to sit through; I just mean the doing so didn't pain me near as much enduring II, III and especially IV did. As expected, this one picks up where the last one ended at which time it was revealed Detective Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) was indeed one of the late Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) disciples and was continuing his torturous "education" process for those who've done wrongs during their lifetimes. FBI Agent Strahm (Scott Patterson), a survivor of one of the unidentified killer's traps, sets out to prove his fellow partner in law enforcement isn't everything he appears to be, going against orders to bet on a hunch no one else suspects.
