A North Carolina man who allegedly opened fire on a Washington, D.C., pizzeria on Sunday told police he took to the restaurant with an assault rifle to “self-investigate” Pizzagate — a fake news story about Hillary Clinton that has made its rounds on the Internet in recent months — authorities say.
Edgar Maddison Welch, 28, of Salisbury, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon after allegedly opening fire on Comet Ping Pong — the northwest Washington pizza shop at the center of a baseless online conspiracy theory involving Clinton and owner James Alefantis, according to D.C. Metro Police.

Horror and comic books: chances are you love one or the other of ’em — most likely both, or why in the hell would you even be reading this? Anyway, a dude that deals in both of those fine subjects all simultaneous-like just came a-waltzin’ into the Crypt o’ Xiii. Please put your claws together for Rough House Publishing’s Derek Rook!
Famous Monsters. Welcome, Derek; please kick that corpse outta the way and take a load off! Now, please tell my faithful Coffin Club all the jucy deets about Rough House Publishing!
Derek Rook. We’re living in a golden age of nostalgia and retro pop culture and at the same time in an age where modern comic book IPs have become little more than advertisements for a much larger and profitable medium… namely movies and TV shows. I had a go around with independent publishing in the early 2000s.

Sometimes explaining why you like Keanu Reeves is like defending your religion (if you have one). This is not to say I worship him — that’s just silly. But there have been times when I have found myself defending him — a person I don’t even know. Why? Well, look at his career. How can you not admire an artist who finds his passion at a young age and then explores, challenges and refines it throughout his life?
He chooses stories and roles that not only inspire him but go on to inspire others. Perhaps they’re not always the most successful performances, but there’s no doubt when I watch Keanu on-screen, I see the commitment he puts into the role. This might be one of the flaws he’s been disparaged for — you’re not supposed to see an actor “act.

Keanu Reeves has embodied popular culture like few other actors, yet he’s retained a level of privacy that has enabled the media to label him “mysterious.” What is a mystery is how Reeves has managed to maintain an element of anonymity in a 24/7 world that denies even minor celebrities their time in the shade.
When I caught up with Reeves for a chat just prior to the U.S. opening of his latest film “Henry’s Crime,” it became clear this is a guy who is all about the work, about applying himself first and foremost to his role, and about ensuring that everyone on set is similarly geared.
By not declaring favorites just as keenly as not revealing others’ secrets — and by being open to all forms of artistic media — Reeves has become one of the most likable (and bankable) stars on the planet.

After years of delays and behind-the-scenes battles, the long-awaited, two-part "Lord of the Rings" prequel is searching for a new director after Guillermo del Toro dropped out of the project over the weekend.
One thing seems sure, "Lotr" director and mastermind Peter Jackson, who is producing "The Hobbit" films, doesn't appear to be in the running to step back into the director's chair for the project.
Jackson's manager, Ken Kamins, told Entertainment Weekly over the holiday weekend that he spoke to his client about taking over the project. "As for Peter directing, that's not something he can consider at this time as he has other commitments to other projects," Kamins said. "But make no mistake, Peter and [producing partner Fran Walsh's] commitment to the franchise is total and they will do...

To hear Kristen Stewart talk about her role as an underage stripper in "Welcome to the Rileys" is to understand the way in which the character continues to live in the actress' mind and affect her emotionally. For all the attention she's garnered for the "Twilight" series, the 19-year-old actress maintains that her experience on "Rileys" stands out as both the most personal and most natural of her career.
"This ... was different from any movie that I've done," she told MTV News at the Sundance Film Festival. "How do you describe a feeling? I don't know. It just felt so completely right to be telling this story with [director Jake Scott] and [Melissa Leo] and Jim [Gandolfini], and that's...

Kristen Stewart poses at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival
Photo: Matt Carr/ Getty Images
Park City, Utah — Kristen Stewart has jetted into the Sundance Film Festival four times before, but none of the 19-year-old's visits can possibly compare to her experience at the 2010 fest. Not only has Stewart fully established herself as one of the biggest stars on the planet after two blockbuster "Twilight" films, but the actress is premiering two films at the festival and dealing with all the publicity needs such films require.
So, there she was on the red carpet at "Welcome to the Rileys," in which she plays a damaged teen stripping for cash in the seedy back alleys of New Orleans. There she was on the red carpet of "The Runaways,...

The Golden Globes are only a few days away and while you can expect to see quite a few familiar faces — vets like George Clooney, James Cameron, Steve Carell and Emily Blunt — there will also be a number of newbies hitting the red carpet this year.
Lea Michele graced TV screens in 2009 in the breakout musical-comedy series "Glee," quickly going from unknown to well-known. The acting and singing chops she shows every week playing Rachel Berry have earned her a Best Actress in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical nomination.
Fellow "gleek" Matthew Morrison also finds himself in the Golden Globes spotlight this year, nominated for Best Actor in a Television Series, Comedy or Musical for his role as glee-club boss Will Schuester.

Well, we hate to say we told you so, but there were a lot of people at the recently concluded Toronto International Film Festival claiming that "Up in the Air" is a surefire Oscar nominee. With that film's November 25 release date arriving soon, and a little movie called "New Moon" coming out just before it, the age of Anna Kendrick seems to be upon us.

Matt Carr/Getty Images It should come as no surprise that Piper Bee-Jones, 3 ½-year-old daughter of Daily Show correspondents Samantha Bee and Jason Jones is a comedian-in-the-making — and “potty humor” is her specialty!
In an interview with Time Out New York Kids, Samantha reveals that Piper’s “favorite thing” is to “substitute the word poop or pee into any song or aspect of the conversation,” and mom does little to dissuade the practice!
“She thinks it’s so hysterical,” Samantha says. “Unfortunately, I also think it’s hysterical, so I encourage it.” The couple’s newest addition — 15-month-old Fletcher – is also a source of amusement, despite their better judgment! Says Jason,
“That’s half the problem with our parenting. We laugh at the stuff that other parents are scolding their kids for. Like Fletcher will take a handful of eggs and whip them at the wall, and we’re like,...
