So, Mortal Kombat took the fighting game by storm, and made it a worthy opponent to Capcom’s Street Fighter II. The obvious question after that is: How do you follow up that success? The obvious answer came in November 1993 with Mortal Kombat II. Was it more of the same? Not quite. Building upon the framework of the original game, Mkii honed what made the original game so great, added more Kombatants, more Fatalities, more secrets, and in general just gave fans more of what they craved in pixelated blood.
Mortal Kombat II picks up after the events of the previous tournament, where Shaolin warrior Liu Kang had defeated both the reigning Mortal Kombat champion Goro and the shapeshifting sorcerer Shang Tsung. Shang is brought before his master, Shao Kahn, the supreme ruler of Outworld, begging Kahn to spare his life. Shao Kahn relents after hearing Shang Tsung’s new...

The Spider-Man family of media is synonymous with some of the best actors in the business. The movies are iconic thanks to the stars who bring the stories to life, and the cartoons are legendary for some of the best line deliveries you’ll ever hear. However, unlike properties such as Batman, no one actor has truly embodied the wall-crawler or his amazing friends (or deadly enemies). So, Insomniac Games had their work cut out for them when it came time to cast for Marvel’s Spider-Man.
To say Insomniac knocked it out of the park with their selected voices would be an understatement, so of course they were primed to return for subsequent entries, including Spider-Man 2. The game is full of returning characters, many of whom are voiced by the same actors, but the main selling point are all the new faces. During the game, players will get...

And Just Like That… season one ended with plenty of emotions and new relationships forming. Carrie goes to Paris to immerse Big’s ashes in the Seine River to commemorate their love. She also ends up kissing her podcast producer, Franklyn, to showcase their attraction to each other. Seema gets into a relationship with Zed, which is her way of getting emotionally attached to a man, something she has not done in a while. Miranda flies off to Los Angeles with Che Diaz as support while Che is developing a new comedy series about their lives. Charlotte, by the end of season one, ends up accepting her child for who she is. This is a groundbreaking change for Charlotte, who is known to be conservative. The new season of the show on HBO Max begins where all the stories ended, including the many new characters that have entered the lives of the three OGs.

And Just Like That… may have gained three new characters, but they also lost three important ones, all for different reasons. Chris Noth’s Mr. Big was killed off in the first episode, while Kim Cattrall was not asked to reprise her role as Samantha Jones (she’ll appear briefly in season 2). Stanford Blatch, played by the late Willie Garson, appeared in the first few episodes of the series before Garson became too ill to film. And Just Like That… opted to keep Stanford alive, despite Garson’s death. Now, the series pays homage to the beloved actor and character in season 2.
‘And Just Like That…’ pays homage to the late Willie Garson in a subtle nod
Willie Garson may be gone, but Stanford Blatch lives on, out of sight, in the Sex and the City universe. Stanford’s sudden departure in season 1 was necessary; paying homage to the character...

On Tuesday, Billboard published a piece speculating on why hip-hop hasn’t had a Number One album or single within the first half of 2023. The report set off a flurry of chatter from industry observers and rap fans drawing their own conclusions as to what the answer might be. Is the dearth of rap hits this year a matter of market share, artist deaths, incarceration, or stagnant charts?
Most people who think the occurrence is no big deal are chalking it up to a lack of releases by major rap stars.
