One Piece: Eiichiro Oda Has No Answer to 1 Straw Hat Member’s Lack of Haki Which is Just Bad Writing
The word “Haki” literally translates as “ambition,” and this is perhaps the biggest clue that the series has given about the origins of this power. According to Silvers Rayleigh, Haki is a power that lies dormant in all the world’s creatures, embodying a being’s presence, fighting spirit, and intimidation.

Fans know that there are three major types of Haki- Observation Haki, Armament Haki, and the Conqueror’s Haki. Despite these three types of Haki and many sub-categories existing in the world of One Piece, one Straw Hat member hasn’t received or awakened any of them. And it’s frustrating for fans to wait that long because this character has the biggest potential out of all of the crewmates, including Luffy, to manifest this power.

When Dragon Ball dropped its final chapter in May 1995, Shueisha was looking for another manga to take the mantle and become the new face of Weekly Shonen Jump. Then came One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach in 1997. However, nobody dared to think that their manga will “replace” Dragon Ball.
While chatting with the creator of Detective Conan, Gosho Aoyama, Eiichiro Oda stated that after Dragon Ball ended, all the newcomers were like, ‘I want that spot!’. It basically started a period where everyone was competing against each other to fill the void left by Dragon Ball. Then, after two years, everyone realized that comparing themselves to Dragon Ball was like asking to be defeated and somehow Oda managed to survive all of that. It meant that One Piece turned out to be Dragon Ball‘s true successor.

One Piece begins with a chaotic start and introduces us to the dynamic between a 7-year-old Monkey D. Luffy and a younger Red-Haired Shanks. Their relationship is one of the most memorable and important ones as it sets off a series of events in the One Piece world. We wouldn’t have the Straw Hat Pirates and the powerful man Luffy is today, making the World Government shake in their boots, if Shanks hadn’t met Luffy and also stolen the Gomu Gomu no Mi.

The imaginations that form the universe of One Piece are a heaven-sent dream for ship lovers. Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus can never be forgotten, with all the boundless voyages of the Straw Hat Pirates across the seven seas. However, in the darker shores of the manga industry, Kentaro Miura quietly kept drawing some of the most arduously crafted ship designs in the medium.

Be it the fandom’s hate toward Sakura or unnecessary deaths in Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto doesn’t seem to get a break. This holds especially true in the case of ‘bad writing’. The mangaka fails terribly in writing female characters. However, he outshines his Shonen contemporaries in several ways.

This is evident in his writing of Akatsuki as the major antagonist in the series. While One Piece is considered a benchmark in Shonen, his treatment of villains is different. Additionally, Akatsuki had some of the well-written characters with a developed backstory. This feat makes him superior to Oda in most ways.

Eiichiro Oda has spared no efforts to make One Piece as unique as possible. Not only does it stand out from all the series from its debut era, the late 1990s, but even in the current age, it is an unparalleled work. From a detailed and huge world-building to hiding easter eggs in chapters years before they could unfold, Oda has gone all out to make One Piece the top reigning manga.
So, of course, each and every character in the series has been fleshed out to Oda’s capacity. And the female characters are no exception. There are several strong and independent female characters in One Piece, and Oda reveals why he had always planned it to be this way.

As complex as the story has become in One Piece, it all started quite simply. From the beginning, Eiichiro Oda had a distinct and unique art style. The same is true for his approach towards storytelling. The art style in the story is different from the anime-esque style commonly seen in other manga, and has a cartoonish feel to it.
While most characters have distinctive flair and unique features, Luffy, the protagonist, has a simplistic design. During an interview about the One Piece live-action, Oda opened up about his vision behind Luffy’s character and appearance. His vision explains what he wanted the main character of his story to be like.

Once again, Eiichiro Oda delivered some fabulous panels with chapter 1127 of One Piece. With five of the Straw Hats disappearing in the last chapter, fans had multiple theories to explore about where they could have been transported. As it turns out, all of them are at a mysterious Lego house, being followed by giant versions of cute housepets.
While the recent chapter does not clear up where exactly the Straw Hats are, it does show that Nami, Usopp, Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy have not been separated. They have all ended up in the same place. Yet, the chapter shows a peculiar side of the pirates that fans have not failed to point out.

After the success of the live-action adaptation of One Piece by Netflix, anime fans have gained faith in live-action. After years of being in limbo, there’s finally confirmation that a Naruto live-action is in the works by the director of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Destin Daniel Cretton. Considering how gorgeous the MCU film is, fans are cautiously optimistic but Cretton’s work shows respect for the source material.

Even after enthralling fans for 25 years, Eiichiro Oda always keeps us guessing his next move. One Piece is arguably the most influential anime and Luffy’s journey to become the Future Pirate King has resonated with millions of fans for decades.
Narrating an epic tale of friendship and adventure without a single dull moment has led fans to regard Oda-sensei as a true genius. Despite One Piece‘s long list of episodes, Oda-sensei has yet to reveal many of the story’s secrets. As a long-time fan, I’m especially intrigued by Imu’s secret identity.

Artificial intelligence, or AI, has managed to make a place for itself in almost every industry. Even the anime and manga community are talking about it, and while not everyone is in its favor, One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda decided to give it his own twist and use it to have some fun.

While the AI Chatbot did come up with a plot, it was not liked by Oda. He then asked ChatGPT to come up with another story, and this time, the response given by the AI Chatbot might be unexpected.

Sure, the question of who’s the better main character, which series has the better side characters, storyline, plot-twists, etc. have been raging on. However, there is a possibility that Oda might have made a bad decision by allowing the remake of the series.

One of the recurring yet surprising aspects seen in Shonen manga is that the villains are sometimes equally, or even more popular than the protagonist trope. The reasons for this include their complex personalities and morals, and also cool designs of the said characters. However, Eiichiro Oda has subverted this popular trope in One Piece by creating Celestial Dragons — the elite group of world nobles who sit at the pinnacle of power.

Unlike the cool, charismatic villains that typically populate Shonen manga, Oda deliberately made the Celestial Dragons as grotesque and unlikeable as possible, both in appearance and behavior, to avoid a repeated trope of villains in the genre.

Apart from being Jump’s Big 3 of Shonen, Naruto and One Piece share a healthy rivalry. Both series are iconic and legendary in their own way. Be it fights or friendships, both anime are unique in their portrayal of elements of the Shonen genre. However, they’re not exempt from criticism and heated debates by the fans.

While Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus has received worldwide acclaim, Masashi Kishimoto isn’t too far behind. Although both series differ in their power scaling and representation of heroism, fans believe that Kishimoto’s series fails to triumph over Oda’s manga through its fake deaths. It also highlights the treatment of deaths in both series.

Monkey D. Garp is a man, molded from strong convictions and principles, and always yearns for justice while hating those who misuse the weak. That’s exactly why, the Celestial Dragons with gutsy lives, and filled with corruption, represent everything Garp dislikes.

However, quite surprisingly, that same Garp shocked the world that one time by saving these beings he hated the most. This act of mercy was utterly out of the odds, raising questions about the real depths of his character. What makes this hero violate his own emotions and act with mercy?

Since the dawn of One Piece in the manga and anime industry, the series and its creator, Eiichiro Oda, have been subjected to one particular criticism that is still going on after so long. This criticism involves Oda’s way of writing female characters in the series. While the mangaka has excelled in almost every aspect, he could not vindicate himself in the depiction of female characters.

From being called sexist to allegedly using female characters for fanservice, the One Piece manga creator has faced many major allegations. Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece stands as a heavyweight in the manga world for its vast world-building, engaging characters, and well-crafted storyline. However, one of Oda’s storytelling tendencies draws huge criticism even from the fans: his reluctance to kill off the characters. But, many might not know that this tendency stems from a major influence in his early creative work — the legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki’s creation.

Oda has stated Miyazaki’s 1984 film, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind as a major influence in his artistic journey. One of Hayao Miyazaki’s philosophies has shaped Oda’s approach to dealing with One Piece‘s characters, which simultaneously has become a debated topic among the fans.

Although both series have their fair share of unique merch, there’s another series franchise that takes the cake with its over $102 billion net worth.

However, it is just like every other arc that Eiichiro Oda has drawn. He is right now setting the background and laying the land on which the crew is soon going to do something amazing. And just like every other arc, he has given new outfits to the crew, which mix well with the setting of their surroundings.
As Elbaf is inspired by the Scandinavian culture, especially their seafaring warriors, Vikings, the crew blended in with some Viking outfits and accessories that have never been seen before.

Battle Shonen is something fans come back to watch or read again and again because it’s fun watching the main character power up and beat the sh*t out of the villains. Since its advent in the form of Astro Boy by Osamu Tezuka, the series coming under this genre have a bunch of troupes that authors stick to.
Some of these troupes are way more popular than the others. For instance, fans are well-acquainted with the “Power of Friendship” troupe, in which the main character spontaneously gains a powerup after witnessing a friend suffer grave injuries or death at the hands of the villain. While troupes such as these define Shonen as it is today, some authors make the mistake of overplaying these troupes, making it “clichéd.”

Naruto’s live-action movie is seeing both positive and negative sides to its development. On one hand, Destin Daniel Cretton helming the project gives it credibility and hope that it would be directed well. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings gave the director enough to go with. On the other hand, it was said that the film would take an original take on Masashi Kishimoto’s story.

The One Piece live-action by Netflix has, so far, picked excellent actors for the characters. From the goofy Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy to the hardworking Taz Skyler as Sanji, the casting is on point and even handpicked by Eiichiro Oda. The ultimate reason is that they respected which ethnicity Oda meant the characters to be from and diversified smoothly.
One of the controversial aspects of the One Piece anime adaptation by Toei Animation is that they lightened the skin tone of several characters after the post-time skip who were initially more tan or darker. A prime example is Nico Robin whose design was unique and signature to her. Now that Netflix is set to introduce her very soon, they have the chance to correct what Toei did to her.

However, their relationship is more than that. Both Oda and Kishimoto had a fierce rivalry in their initial days to reach the top spot. But now the debates have gone much too far, as it feels like Naruto fans are getting in over their heads.

For a story woven through multiple decades, there are bound to be numerous ups and downs, and so is the case with Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece. Even after 25 years of weekly serialization, One Piece is going strong with consistently growing popularity. The manga series has garnered phenomenal critical and commercial acclaim over the years. However, there was one point in the story where fans felt the story somewhat dipped in quality.

This was during the Fishman Island Arc, the first arc post the time skip. Many fans feel the story was much better before the time skip happened. The story got back on track with the arcs that followed after Fishman Arc. Currently, the popularity and the intrigue of One Piece is unparalleled. This is simply because of Eiichiro Oda’s approach that gives him a great advantage over his contemporaries.

Spoiler Alert !!!Spoilers ahead for episode 1119 of One Piece!
One Piece has just picked up the heat with the Devil Fruit transformation of the hidden World Government’s monarch, Imu. In an attempt to escape, Sabo unleashes his Mera Mera no Mi. Still, the young man is going against the Five Elders and Imu, who all transform into their shadowy and intimidating forms.
While the Five Elders are assumed to have Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits based on how their transformations are based on various yokai creatures in Japanese folklore, Imu’s transformation is so vague and weird that we can’t decipher what the shape is. Eiichiro Oda really is leaving the monarch a mystery until the very end of One Piece.

In a recent turn of events, Demon Slayer faced flak from the One Piece fandom for Muzan’s slow-paced entry. Some even compared it to an Indian soap opera.
