Even before Disney acquired Fox, we were seeing our favorite mutants once again enjoying prominence over at Marvel. And to be more specific, we’re talking on the comic book side of things. You see, after being somewhat cast aside for a number of years, the X-Men have been experiencing a resurgence of sorts over in the 616, with one top notch book being rolled out after another.
Believe it or not, the House of Ideas have opted to debut yet another title in the near future, that being X-Men Red. This time, though, it’s the all-star creative team of writer Tom Taylor and artist Mahmud Asrar who’ll be co-piloting this particular journey. And, in it, we know that none other than a returning Jean Grey will be leading a newly formed team of mutants.

Back when The Ultimates first came out, Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch fashioned what was one of the best books on the rack, month in and month out (when it wasn’t delayed). In many ways, the cinematic, broad, and modern reboot of all these familiar characters provided a template and vision for what the Marvel Universe could look like on screen and helped start the ball rolling that ended with Marvel Studios taking over Hollywood. The biggest evidence of the influence is that Nick Fury, a previously white character, was modeled after Samuel L. Jackson and shepherded these Avengers into existence. Sound familiar?
Well, The Ultimates is making waves again, for an entirely different reason. Apparently, Captain America is being sworn in as the President of the United States in Marvel’s Ultimate Comics The Ultimates #15 and #16, which will be coming out in consecutive weeks, on September 19th and 26th,...

After the announcement, Newsarama caught up with Spider-Men editor Mark Paniccia, who revealed that despite previous comments from Marvel that they would never do a 616/Ultimate crossover, they couldn't pass up the opportunity for one very simple reason. "Timing was just right. There's only one 50th Anniversary for Spider-Man." So far, all we really know is that it will be Peter who ends up in the Ultimate reality. As for whether Miles will visit the 616 universe, he remained coy. "You'll have to read to find out." Marvel earlier revealed that the Ultimate versions of Aunt May and Gwen Stacy would have a role in the limited series, to which Paniccia added: "As you might guess, this is a story...

Philadelphia -- The lights are going out for Peter Parker, the high school student bitten by a radioactive spider whose wall-crawling and web-slinging antics have made him a touchstone of Marvel Comics' universe of heroes and villains.
The publisher said Tuesday that Parker's alter ego, Spider-Man, will finally succumb to one of his most pernicious foes in the final issue of "Ultimate Comics Spider-Man" due out Wednesday.
Fans of Spider-Man need not worry much, though, because the Ultimates imprint is separate from Marvel's bigger universe. Whatever fate may befall Ultimate Spider-Man won't count in the pages of the other series, including Amazing Spider-Man.
The death, while dramatic, is not entirely unexpected. In November, Marvel said that the Ultimate Spider-Man was going to face an uncertain fate in the latest storyline by writer Brian Michael Bendis fittingly titled "The Death of Spider-Man," an eight-issue arc that saw the return of original series artist Mark Bagley.
