Exclusive: Emmy nominees Jacqueline Bisset (Bullitt) and Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings franchise) are set to star alongside Dermot Mulroney in Last Dollar, the 1880s-set Western inspired by European cinema that marks the feature directorial debut of William Shockley.
The film from Thunderbird Pictures is billed as a story of love and vengeance between a young man, the survivor of a horrific tragedy who has to choose between the old ways and the new, and a young woman who is confronted with the crushing cost of her dreams to her soul. It’s set against a background of a rapidly transitioning society, where power rules, mores are being flipped on their head, and reality itself comes into question.

Alex Newell was able to explore so much more with Mo in the second season of “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist.” While Season 1 mostly saw Mo relegated to the next-door neighbor role, Season 2 found him opening up a business with Max and exploring love with fire marshal Perry. Newell says in an exclusive new interview with Gold Derby that he was excited by the prospect of getting out of the apartment and “making this person a real person that is relatable and is an everyday kind of person that goes through the same stuff that we all go through.” Watch the full interview above.
Mo first meets Perry around the midway point in the season and engages in playful banter with him that ultimately leads to romance. Newell appreciated that Mo’s first encounter with Perry wasn’t necessarily a “love at first sight” situation. “That first meeting, it’s very combative...

"For me there's absolutely no better, no happier time than developing a musical. I absolutely love it," says actor-writer Molly Reynolds. Reynolds has been acting in musical theater since she was a child, but recently she's changed her focus to writing. As playwright and lyricist, Reynolds has been developing a new musical, "Benny the Baboon," for the past two years with creative partners Pumashock (Natalie White) and David St. Louis. Reynolds says that "Benny the Baboon" started out as a children's musical audio book. But when she began researching to make it more educational, she discovered that the real baboons in Cape Town, South Africa, are known for hijacking tourists' cars. So she and her collaborators based the musical on true events. "The baboons in Cape Town don't sing and dance, but everything that happens to the baboons in this musical is real," Reynolds says.
