LONDON -- Channel 4 will move the new season premiere of The West Wing from digital web E4 to new start-up digital channel More4 when the £33 million ($62 million) a year network launches in October, digital channels head Dan Brooke announced Friday. Billed as a "a multi-genre public service channel with a strong emphasis on factual programming alongside original and acquired drama and films," the new network will skew older than E4, which will continue to air such shows as The O.C. and Big Brother. More4 will commission topical documentaries and dramas and will air its own news program and nightly talk show, in addition to repeating programs that have aired on the main channel. "The new channel forms part of Channel 4's long-term strategy to launch a suite of digital channels to help sustain (and) protect Channel 4's unique voice in a multichannel world," Brooke said in a statement. "Audiences are underserved with challenging and entertaining programming on digital platforms and More4 is designed to fill that gap."...
