Derek Hough continues his reign as one of the lords of the dance, scoring three nominations for the just-unveiled World Choreography Awards (sister Julianne Hough also makes a showing this year).
His nominations include ABC’s “Step Into…the Movies” special as well as their long-running “Dancing with the Stars,” and also Hough’s work on the music video for Michael Bublé’s “Higher.” However, married choreographers Phillip and Makenzie Chbeeb, also scored three noms each, including one with Hough for the “Higher” video, as well as for the “Zed Ramadan” TV commercial and ABC’s recent “Beauty and The Beast” anniversary special.
Jamal Sims, nominated for three Emmys this year in the choreography categories for his various projects—including Paramount+’s “Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies“—garnered two nods, including his work on Netflix’s “13 the Musical” and the live “Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl.”

On Wednesday night we will find out who America voted the next champion of “America’s Got Talent,” earning the chance to see their name in the big lights of Vegas. Before that happens, there are predictions and opinions to discuss about who we think Should be the winner. Eleven acts will perform one last time on Tuesday, but if you ask me, there is only one that America should send straight through to Vegas and that’s the Ramadhani Brothers.
As of this writing, the sibling danger act is not being predicted by Gold Derby as the winner and have long shot odds of 100/1. Instead, most users believe the French dance troupe Murmuration or Indonesian vocalist Putri Ariani will win. Still, I insist that the Ramadhani Brothers are the best prepared to add value to the Vegas strip with their incredible talent Below, see my personal power rankings for all...

“America’s Got Talent” continued the live shows of its 18th season on September 12 with the fourth round of performances in the “Qualifiers.” On Tuesday night’s show, 11 acts performed for America’s vote and only two of them will advance to “The Finals” when the results are delivered by Terry Crews on Wednesday night. On August 8, “America’s Got Talent” season 18 closed out the first round with the final performances from hopefuls in “Auditions 9.” By this point, six Golden Buzzer acts had been announced–one from each of the four series judges, another from host Terry Crews, and a special Audience Golden Buzzer. The confetti. The tears. The hugs. Admit it: you just can’t get enough of those emotional Golden Buzzer moments on “America’s Got Talent” … and neither can we. This twist was first introduced on the American version of the worldwide talent competition in Season 10, and it’s been an integral part of NBC’s reality TV show ever since.
Throughout the auditions, the four “AGT” judges (and the host as of Season 11) get to press the Golden Buzzer for a single act that moves them emotionally, which sends the performer straight through to the live shows. During the now-defunct Judge Cuts round, guest panelists are allowed to push the button as well for their favorite act. At the start of Season 18, Simon Cowell announced that there’d be a new audience-voted buzzer for an act that wows the crowd. Want a refresher on all of the “America’s Got Talent” Golden Buzzers through the years?...

One of the most talked-about acts to come out of this year’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions is Putri Ariani, thanks in no small part to Simon Cowell blessing her with his Season 18 Golden Buzzer. All these months later, Simon is reflecting on the 17-year-old blind singer/songwriter’s audition at the piano and he’s expecting big things for her in this competition. “I would be amazed if she’s not either the winner or the runner-up. I mean, that’s who I put my money on,” he reveals in the NBC video above.
Putri came all the way from Indonesia to show the world her talent, and she performed two songs on the big stage: “Loneliness” and “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” “There was something about her, even before she started to sing,” Simon now declares. “I just — I had a feeling. And I’ve done this a long time.

America’s Got Talent Season 17 crowned its new winner, Mayyas, on Wednesday. The Lebanese all-female dance group beat out the other 10 finalists after weeks of competition, winning the 1 million prize and the chance to join America’s Got Talent Las Vegas Live at Luxor Hotel and Casino.
The name of the group, Mayyas, derives from an Arabic word, which means the proud walk of a lioness. They first caught the viewers’ attention during their show-stopping audition and prompted judge Sofia Vergara to press her Golden Buzzer to save them from being eliminated.
“From the moment I first saw the Mayyas, their act was spectacular and gave me goosebumps,” said Vergara. “Their coordinated choreography was the most beautiful, creative dancing I have ever seen… Their empowering performances have earned them the ultimate title and I’m so proud of them and can’t wait to see what they do next.”

It’s the moment many “America’s Got Talent” acts have been waiting for: the roast of Simon Cowell.
On Wednesday night’s finale, Mike E. Winfield hosted the special performance, bringing out Don McMillan, Mr. Pants, Lace Larrabee and the roast master himself, Jeff Ross, to all take a swipe at Cowell.
McMillan was criticized by Cowell during his audition for using a PowerPoint presentation. So, in an act of defiance, McMillan once more did a PowerPoint presentation — much to Cowell’s dismay — of the media mogul’s likes and dislikes.
Number 1 on the dislikes was, unsurprisingly, PowerPoints; others included shaving, clowns and parmesan cheese.
He also poked fun at Cowell’s recent bike accidents, adding: “Too soon?”

Mayyas were awarded Sofia Vergara’s Golden Buzzer during this season’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions, and in their final performance the Lebanese dance troupe demonstrated why they were worthy of a Golden Buzzer.
In the performance, a dancer appears onstage wearing what appears to be a huge, undulating feather dress — which is soon revealed to be the other dancers concealed within, each hiding beneath a large feather fan, with the effect meant to represent a traditional Lebanese cedar tree.
As the routine evolves, the dancers hold glowing balls in each hand, with the dance becoming a visual spectacle of light.

Chapel Hart took the stage for the last time on Tuesday night as they sang for America’s votes during the “America’s Got Talent” finale performance show. They clearly have a huge future ahead of themselves, but did they do enough to join the “AGT” winners list? The judges were mixed in their critiques, with both Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel mentioning their off-key vocals.

The Qualifiers 5 episode of “America’s Got Talent” aired Tuesday, September 6 on NBC with 11 acts performing live on the big stage. One of those acts was dance group Mayyas from Lebanon, who just so happened to be Sofia Vergara‘s Golden Buzzer from the auditions round. “Thirty-six women dancing as one — it’s magic,” Sofia said about why she picked Mayyas as her Golden Buzzer all those months ago. Watch the “AGT” live show video above.
“Having our own show in Las Vegas — that would be the dream,” the ladies stated in their video package. This time around, Mayyas’ collective goal was to “hypnotize” the judges and make everyone “believe in magic.” Well, it appears they absolutely wowed the crowd with their perfectly synchronized dances in which they appeared as trees and snakes.
Following the performance, Sofia was so excited that she jumped up on stage and gave them all a group hug.

The 17th season of “America’s Got Talent” is in full swing, with five audition episodes having aired since May 31. Instead of moving right on to the sixth set of hopefuls, the AGT team paused on July 5 to give viewers a look back at some of the best tryouts from the last six years.
