Production designer Christian M. Goldbeck gave a shout-out to All Quiet on the Western Front‘s director Edward Berger and his team of APDs following the film’s Oscar win for Best Production Design.
“I am completely blown away,” Goldbeck said. “To our beautiful director Edward Berger, I could not have not have done this without you.” He continued, “This whole thing was a real team effort. My heart goes to all the other APDs, who worked on this project,” reiterating “I could not have done this without you.”
Set decorator Ernestine Hipper first thanked her parents, her sisters and “dear friends,” She continued: “When I started this, I was told Ernestine, don’t ever forget, you’re only as good as your team. So this is to all the hard-working people in Prague, and all the teams that helped me to get on this stage, the Academy, thank you so much.

When Tyler Perry wrote the screenplay for “A Jazzman’s Blues” in 1995, he imagined Diana Ross in the role of Hattie Mae, mother to a young man named Bayou (Joshua Boone) and an entrepreneurial woman who opens a juke joint in the 1940s South. When Perry finally made the movie — a passion project he held onto for 27 years, which is now streaming on Netflix — he turned to Amirah Vann to play the role.
Best known for powerhouse performances opposite Emmy-winner Viola Davis in “How to Get Away With Murder,” as well as major roles in “Queen Sugar” and “Underground”, Vann was “honored” to get the call from Perry — and even more so that he believed she possessed acting and singing chops comparable to Ross.
“The first time I remember him saying it, I was like, ‘Wait a minute?’” Vann tells Variety over the phone. “It just made me feel so honored.

Nothing is ever simple in Chucalissa.
Naturally, craziness reigned when The Pynk's reopening and Uncle Clifford's 40th birthday landed on the same night on P-Valley Season 2 Episode 2.
But even getting to that point was problematic for Clifford and company.
Holding the auditions mandated by Autumn was a great way to introduce the new characters for this season.
Roulette, brash and contentious, came off as a younger version of Mercedes, which is sure not to go over well with the Og dancer. But little else was revealed about her.
Whisper certainly was an intriguing addition. Beyond her talents on the pole, she also has a spooky quality, such as in the scene where she used an old brass pole to predict Roulette's future like a Magic 8-Ball.
As well synched as Whisper and Roulette were, they had to have performed together in the past. But again, that was left in the dark for now.
