A record impresario turns a swank LP listening party into a diatribe party. When he stomps on the latest record he planned to launch, Cree (Kayne Lee Harrison) also crushes the dreams of singer Erica Wilson (singer-songwriter Christina Milian stars as the thwarted recording artist). A year earlier, Erica’s boyfriend of four years did some crushing figuratively when he pulled up stakes before their wedding. Alicia Keys will produce an untitled romantic comedy for Netflix which will star Christina Milian, Jay Pharoah and Sinqua Walls, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.
Dana Schmalenberg and Rheeqrheeq Chainey are writing the script, and Steven Tsuchida, whose credits include “Dear White People” and “Younger,” will direct.
The film will follow an aspiring pop star, Erica, who ends up being the performer at her ex-fiancé’s wedding. While she tries to keep the past relationship hidden from the bride-to-be, she soon realizes that she still has feelings for her ex.
