Earlier this month The Wheel of Time wrapped up its third season on Prime Video, and we're just now catching our breath. We weren't the only ones who were over the moon about The Wheel of Time season 3; it's far and away the best-reviewed season of the series, and is still topping the charts on Prime Video nearly two weeks after it aired its finale. If Amazon could hurry up and renew the show for seasons 4 through 8, I think we'd all breathe a little easier.
The Wheel of Time's rise is all the more impressive considering the rocky journey it's had to get here. Back when the first season was filming, the show faced the daunting challenge of having to shut down mid-production because of the Covid-19 pandemic, only to subsequently lose one of its core cast members — Barney Harris, who played Mat Cauthon — before filming resumed. The Wheel of Time, Amazon's adaptation of Robert Jordan's epic book series, aired its first season on Prime Video in 2021, and the reviews were mixed. We liked it, more or less, but even we had to admit that the final action scene at Fal Dara looked kinda weird, probably in large part because the show was filming during the first stretch of Covid lockdowns and filming was very difficult. Actor Barney Harris leaving the show partway through also hurt, which meant they had to rewrite Mat's story and find a new actor to play him in season 2.
They got through that, recasting Mat with actor Dónal Finn. Despite the roadblocks, season 2 was better than season 1 in pretty much every way. And more or less everyone agrees that season 3 is another step up. Check out the Rotten Tomatoes ratings for the show season by season:

Not long after The Wheel of Time showrunner likened the series to Game of Thrones in a Season 4 update, Rafe Judkins is back to deliver yet another outlook on the show’s future. The Wheel of Time Season 3 wrapped up in an explosive finale on April 17, “He Who Comes with the Dawn,” but the show has yet to be renewed for Season 4 at Prime Video, despite an extremely positive reception thus far. The fantasy series is based on the popular novels by Robert Jordan, and there’s still plenty of story left to tell. During a recent interview with THR, The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins previewed the future of the franchise, promising a different Season 4 if the crew gets the chance to make it, but also citing differences in the TV landscape:
"That is the same thing that I’ve been sort of asking Amazon — what is the end game for the show?...

The Wheel of Time has reached the end of its third season, and nothing will ever be the same. At a whopping 68 minutes long, "He Who Comes With The Dawn" was a mega-sized episode that featured major developments for nearly every member of the show's main cast. From Rand claiming his place as the Car'a'carn to Siuan Sanche being deposed in the White Tower, there's been a lot to pore over.
Then there was Tanchico, where Min Farshaw, Mat Cauthon, Nynave al'Meara, Elayne Trakand and Thom Merrilin sought to foil the plans of the Black Ajah. They split into groups to search the Panarch's Palace, and each of those groups has a moment which could have served as the climax in any other episode. For Min and Mat, things got deadly fast, as Mat stumbled through a portal into the world of the Eelfinn, leading to the fulfillment of a...

The season finale for The Wheel of Time has arrived, bringing its stellar third season to an epic conclusion. "He Who Comes With The Dawn" featured a number of crucial scenes for most every member of the show's sprawling cast, including one fans of the book series have been champing at the bit to see for years. During the finale, Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn) goes to the Panarch's Palace to search for a dangerous collar ter'angreal which the Black Ajah means to use to enslave the Dragon Reborn. But instead of finding it, he stumbles through a redstone doorframe and finds himself in another dimension. There, Mat encounters an Eelfinn — an otherworldly being who grants dangerous wishes with unforeseen consequences.

The Wheel of Time season 3 wrapped up today in typically spectacular fashion; the third season has been the show's best, and there are still miles to go. There are 14 Wheel of Time books, so we're not even halfway through.
But will Amazon and Sony actually renew the show for a fourth season, let alone renew it for as many seasons as it needs to tell this story to completion? Distressingly, we don't have a firm answer, although showrunner Rafe Judkins is doing his best to get Amazon to move. "I really want to deliver this full series, so how do we best do that?" he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I think one reason we went with Amazon, because we had options of who was going to buy the series when we first went out with it, is that Amazon felt like a place where they do want to invest in shows for the long term.

[This story contains major spoilers from the Wheel of Time season three finale, “He Who Comes With the Dawn.”]
It’s hard to surprise an audience that already knows what’s coming. That’s not a particularly new challenge for TV shows adapted from beloved book franchises like Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time. But that doesn’t stop its showrunner Rafe Judkins from trying.
Many of the events of season three’s narratively packed finale, which debuted Thursday, are entirely expected, but others will leave more than a few fans in shock. After making the decision to play out a key battle in the third season’s penultimate episode, the finale, “He Who Comes With the Dawn” does the work of both settling some major storylines and then setting up even more.
Across the episode, much of the series’ leading ensemble makes pivotal choices in their larger Wheel of Time journeys. Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), in a literal last-breath move,...

Note: This story contains spoilers from “The Wheel of Time” Season 3, Episode 8.
“The Wheel of Time” capped a successful, momentum-gathering third season with Rand (Josha Stradowski) proclaiming himself to the Aiel, Mat (Dónal Finn) confronting the series’ “horror elves” for the first time and a second book-deviating death in as many weeks – all to showrunner Rafe Judkins’ plan.
For many viewers, Season 3 of “The Wheel of Time” was a major leap forward in the series compared to the first two entries. With the show earning the strongest reviews of the show’s run by the end of the season, Judkins told TheWrap it was a part of his initial pitch that the series would really hit its stride in the third year — which is proving true.

It's been a winding road, but we've arrived at the season finale for The Wheel of Time. Across its third season, Prime Video's epic fantasy show has captured our hearts and blown our minds with its drama, action, ambition, romance and scope. We began in the city of Tar Valon, where the Black Ajah made a bloody escape and our young heroes from Emond's Field went their separate ways. From there we went to the deserts of the Aiel Waste, the forests of the Two Rivers, and the hills of Tanchico. It's been quite a ride, and it's all led to this.
"He Who Comes With The Dawn" is a powerful finale, but it's also the episode I've been anticipating will most divide fans, especially those who have read Robert Jordan's books. Because while this is a rock solid hour of television, it makes bold choices.

There has been much to learn in the third season of The Wheel of Time. The epic series' most recent episode brought out the leadership qualities of the axe-wielding Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford), as he defended the Two Rivers against numerous foes, namely a horde of Trollocs and Padan Fain (Johann Myers). Now, as the season draws to a close, we turn our attention back to the Aiel Waste, and Dragon Reborn Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) as he seeks to unite the Aiel under his banner. Ahead of the Season 3 finale, The Wheel of Time has released a new sneak peek, teasing what lies in wait for these heroes as the Pattern continues to weave.
Rand's story in Season 3 has centered on journeying to the Aiel Waste, learning his roots, and proving to the Aiel that he was indeed the Car'a'carn. In the newly released clip, Rand is being led...

The Wheel of Time is an epic fantasy show currently airing its third season on Amazon Prime Video. It starts simple: a farm boy named Rand al'Thor learns he is the Dragon Reborn, a messianic figure destined to to either save the world of destroy it. He and his friends go adventures and learn about themselves, and the world of the show expands. We're introduced to more factions, more cultures and more characters until we're up to our eyeballs in lore. The show is based on The Wheel of Time book series by Robert Jordan, which is famously enormous. The show is only three seasons in, but it has a ways to go if it wants to tell the whole story.
And hopefully it will get a chance to do that, but we can't help but notice that the third season is almost over and neither Amazon nor Sony, who coproduce the show together,...

The penultimate episode of The Wheel of Time season 3 is here, and it's a big one. Like the show's mid-season barnburner "The Road to the Spear," this latest episode is focused entirely on one location. This time it's the Two Rivers, where Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) is leading the folk of his idyllic home in a desperate battle against a horde of Trollocs.
The Wheel of Time has had big action scenes before, but "Goldeneyes" easily takes the crown as the best-produced battle episode of the show to date. It also serves as a great way to highlight Perrin and those around him, which is much needed for everyone's favorite Wolfbrother at this point in the series. The Battle of the Two Rivers is a crucible which changes Perrin forever, and it's a crucial sequence for the show to get right.
Full Spoilers for "Goldeneyes" beyond this point.

This article contains Spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 6, "The Shadow in the Night."
The Wheel of Time is deep into its third season, and despite our heroes' best efforts to take a breather this week, the villains had other ideas. Nowhere was that clearer than in Tanchico, where Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins), Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney), Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn) and Min Farshaw (Kae Alexander) are on the hunt for the Black Ajah. Despite having some success in their search, like digging up a dangerous artifact known as the Domination Band and ferreting out the location of the Black Ajah's hideout, they soon fell afoul of an even more dangerous villain: Moghedien, the sadistic Forsaken sorceress played by Laia Costa.
Moghedien was first introduced at the end of the show's second season, and the anticipation has been high to see her in action. The book on which this season is largely based,...

With only three episodes left in Season 3 of The Wheel of Time, paths continue to diverge and converge, and more secrets are revealed, for better or worse. Collider can now unveil an exclusive sneak peek for Thursday's episode, "The Shadow in the Night." The scene is brief, focusing on Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) and Faile Bashere (Isabella Bucceri). Faile, a Hunter of the Horn, who has been helping in the efforts against the Whitecloaks, and Perrin, who last episode planned a rescue mission for Natti Cauthon (Juliet Howland) and her daughters, are intimately discussing something when Faile says that Perrin's eyes are gold.
Perrin goes on to explain that he's a Wolfbrother and asks if Faile finds his demeanor strange because of it. She says she does, but she doesn't mind strange. The tension begins to build, and Perrin finally comes clean, laughing to break it. He asks Faile to fetch a scroll.

The Wheel of Time is back with the fifth episode of its third season, and it's a major step forward in broadening the scope of this expansive fantasy series. Last week the show tightened focus to cover Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) and Moiraine Damodred's (Rosamund Pike) journey into the sacred Aiel city of Rhuidean. It stands as the highest-rated episode of the series to date on IMDb with a 9.5/10, and deserves every bit of praise it's getting.
But "The Road to the Spear" was only the halfway point in the season. In this week's episode, "Tel'aran'rhiod," we catch up with many of the characters who didn't get screentime during Rand's millennia-spanning vision quest. From the White Tower to a new Aiel settlement, Tanchico and the high seas, and even the dream world of Tel'aran'rhiod, The Wheel of Time is reminding us that it is a globe-trotting fantasy series that can fill viewers with wonder.

Was anyone expecting The Wheel of Time to end the episode on a CW-level love triangle cliffhanger? Yeah, I didn’t either, which is why I gasped at that delicious scene.
Is it wrong to be rooting for the good guys and the bad guys at the same time? All of the characters, especially The Forsaken, are so complex and amazing.
Not to mention that The Wheel of Time has gotten good at leaving us begging for more. With the number of characters the series has introduced, it’s a miracle anyone gets screen time.
(Prime/Screenshot)
As impressive as The Wheel of Time is, the plot has become harder to follow due to the constant shifting of characters.
There are so many separate stories happening at once that I find myself thinking, “Oh, right. That character is over there doing that thing.”

The Pattern weaves and The Wheel of Time continues to spin to deliver the third season of the show, with new episodes dropping Thursdays. Among other new faces this season, Prime Video's adaptation of Robert Jordan's iconic book series introduced the Royal Family of Andor, including Olivia Williams as Queen Morgase and Galad (Callum Kerr) and Gawyn (Luke Fetherston). Now, Fetherston has reflected on being cast as the divisive book character of Gawyn.
Readers of Jordan's original works are well-versed in the complex nature of Gawyn's character arc. While the character can be credited for some good deeds along the way, he is most despised for the role he ultimately played in how Egwene al'Vere's (Madeleine Madden) life pans out. Speaking to ScreenRant, Fetherston revealed that he didn't know which Trakand he would be playing when he first auditioned.

Today, Prime Video dropped the fourth episode of The Wheel of Time season 3, and it was a doozy. "The Road to the Spear" tightened its focus on Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski), the prophesied hero known as the Dragon Reborn, following his footsteps through the mystical Aiel city of Rhuidean. As Rand passed through a forest of glass columns, he was transported back in time to relive key moments in the lives of his blood ancestors. It was a stunningly beautiful hour of television.
If you enjoyed it like we did, you're probably champing at the bit for the next episode. After all, as good as Rhuidean was, it didn't feature many important cast members like Perrin (Marcus Rutherford), Mat (Dónal Finn) and Nynaeve (Zoë Robins). What are they all getting up to while Rand is on his trippy vision quest?
We'll find out in The Wheel of Time season 3 Episode 5, which is titled "Tel'aran'rhiod.

Last week, The Wheel of Time kicked off its third season with a block of three rock-solid episodes. This season of Prime Video's fantasy show is primarily adapting The Shadow Rising, one of the most acclaimed books in Robert Jordan's series. So far, it's living up to that high bar. Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) headed out into the Aiel Waste with his allies to earn the allegiance of the Aiel people; Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) headed home to the Two Rivers to find the once peaceful village under siege from Trollocs and Whitecloaks; and Mat Cauthon (Dónal Finn), Nynaeve al'Meara (Zoë Robins) and Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney) set off to the seedy port city of Tanchico to hunt the Black Ajah. A lot's going on this season, and that's not even getting into the shadowy schemes of the Forsaken.

The third season of The Wheel of Time is off to a fantastic start on Prime Video. The streaming service released three episodes last week, and they didn’t disappoint.
Although the show is scrambling the events from Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time book series a bit, these episodes did a good job of making that change relatively seamless without losing any momentum built up during the action-packed finale to season 2.
Without focusing too much on the differences between the books and the show, audiences can appreciate the visual smorgasbord the show delivers with aplomb. So far, The Wheel of Time is a prime example of how a quality fantasy story can be told on the small screen.

“The Wheel of Time” is hurtling toward a part of the story that fans of 14-book fantasy series consider among the best, and showrunner Rafe Judkins is excited to get weird with it.
Season 3 of Prime Video’s adaptation of Robert Jordan’s beloved series primarily adapted the fourth book — “The Shadow Rising” — which is considered by many fans to be among the best entries in the lengthy fantasy epic. With Book 4, the series begins to shift from a more traditional fantasy story to something darker and odder. Judkins told TheWrap he was excited to lean into that “weirdness” deeper this season.
“We have a lot of trust from our network now because the show’s a success and people like it,” he said. “That’s priceless for us. The books are very unique, the books are very weird. We get to do a lot of that weirdness this season,...

The wait is almost over! On Thursday, March 13, Prime Video will premiere season 3 of The Wheel of Time. The streaming service is promoting it more than it has in the past, and this could be a make-or-break season for the fantasy show.
The Wheel of Time is one of two epic fantasy shows on Prime Video, with The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power being the other. The Rings of Power has a bigger budget and has more promotion, but The Wheel of Time is the better series.
The Wheel of Time is based on the massive 14-volume book series by Robert Jordan (and finished by Brandon Sanderson). The first tome, The Eye of the World, was published in 1990 and the final book, A Memory of Light, in 2013.
The first two seasons of The Wheel of Time TV show covered books one and two, with some storylines from later books bleeding in.

The third season of The Wheel of Time will air soon on Prime Video. So far, it's looking terrific. Trailer? Epic. First 11 minutes? Fire. Source material? Best in show. The runway is set for this epic fantasy series to take off.
There are 14 books in The Wheel of Time book series, and the TV show has had to make some cuts as the story transitions from page to screen. In general, I think showrunner Rafe Judkins has made smart choices when it comes to picking what to cut and streamline; he's clearly a fan who's keeping the long game in mind.
For instance, at this point in the book series, lead character Rand al'Thor (Josha Stradowski) should make his way towards a fortress called the Stone of Tear, where he lays claim to a legendary sword called Callandor. That happens at the end of the third book in the series,...

Another #WOTWednesday, another epic piece of content from The Wheel of Time. And if you’ve seen the intense opening minutes of the season opener that dropped last week, you know a major mess is about to go down inside the Aes Sedai’s stronghold. Prime Video has debuted the first trailer for ‘The Wheel of Time’s’ upcoming third season, which will debut globally on 13th March 2025.
In the series, a humble farm boy, Rand al’Thor, learns he is The Dragon Reborn—a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it. The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches. After defeating Ishamael, one of the most powerful of the Forsaken, at the end of Season Two, Rand reunites with his friends in the city of Falme and is declared the Dragon Reborn. But in Season Three, the threats against the Light are multiplying: the White Tower stands divided, the Black Ajah run free, old enemies return to the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken are in hot pursuit of the Dragon… including Lanfear, whose relationship with Rand will mark a crucial choice between Light and Dark for them both.
