Zack Snyder made his name with his gruesome, much more action-y remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead in 2004. The director then tried to line up an even bigger sequel called Army of the Dead for years, but there were many detours along the way, including his eventual role as the chief architect of the early Dceu. He finally returned to his long-lost zombie sequel in 2021, this time as the launching point of a whole new cinematic universe for Netflix, which also included a crime thriller prequel called Army of Thieves and even an animated series about the initial outbreak in Las Vegas.
There was also talk of a direct sequel to Army of the Dead, which left no shortage of mysteries left to answer in a part two. Were Dave Bautista’s Scott Ward and his team of mercenaries in a time loop all along? What...

Dave Bautista has excelled in his acting career, to say the least. He is one of those entertainers who made a switch from bodybuilding/WWE to acting and absolutely nailed it. From Drax, the Destroyer in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy to Scott Ward in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, he has portrayed some memorable characters in his acting career spanning nearly two decades.

With the sandworms of Dune 2 taking over the big screens, many cinephiles would have seen Bautista’s character in the movie. In an interview, he reflected on how a major regret of his regarding this same thing.

Long before he became the face of a comic book universe or started becoming known for slow motion action epics, director Zack Snyder started on already ambitious and controversial ground. Back in 2004, he made his directorial debut with a remake of George A. Romero’s celebrated 1978 zombie horror Dawn of the Dead. Following the maestro of undead cinema was no mean feat but Snyder’s film has attained a deserved reputation as one of the best horror remakes and had its fair share of interesting themes and ideas. Now, almost 20 years later, Snyder returns to these cinematic roots in spiritual successor Army of the Dead for Netflix (although it has received a cinema run too in America).
The film sees a future where a zombie outbreak hit Las Vegas leading to a violent struggle to contain the living dead threat, resulting in an eventual quarantining of the city. Some time later,...

With the abandoned, walled city of Las Vegas overrun with zombies, after a disastrous government fault, the billionaire casino magnate, Bly Tanaka, realises that he has left something in Sin City: $200 million to be more precise. For the time being, his mountains of cash are safe behind his impenetrable casino vault; however, the US President plans to nuke the entire city in less than 96 hours. Now, Tanaka is willing to pay $50 million to the decorated former mercenary, Scott Ward, and his hand-picked team to retrieve the money before the bomb obliterates the city. Indeed, this is a life-changing offer Scott cannot refuse; nevertheless, the rules have changed, and the horde of the...

This Army of the Dead article contains spoilers.
Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead packed a punch on Netflix the weekend of its release. By the following Monday, the Justice League director’s zombie heist epic was well on its way to becoming one of the streaming service’s top 10 most watched movies of all time. What does that mean? That there’s a good chance we’ll be getting a sequel in due time.
A sequel announcement won’t come as much of a surprise to those fans who’ve been following along, though. After all, Army of the Dead was always meant to be the opening salvo for a new zombie cinematic universe for the streamer, including two prequel projects already in the works — an anime series called Lost Vegas and the movie Army of Thieves, which follows master safecracker Ludwig Dieter before he joined Scott Ward’s team.

Netflix has debuted the first trailer for Zack Snyder’s zombie heist movie ‘Army of the Dead’.
The film takes place following a zombie outbreak that has left Las Vegas in ruins and walled off from the rest of the world.
When Scott Ward (Dave Bautista), a displaced Vegas local, a former zombie war hero who’s now flipping burgers on the outskirts of the town he now calls home, is approached by casino boss Bly Tanaka (Hiroyuki Sanada), it’s with the ultimate proposition: Break into the zombie-infested quarantined zone to retrieve $200 million sitting in a vault beneath the strip before the city is nuked by the government in 32 hours.
Driven by the hope that the payoff could help pave the way to a reconciliation with his estranged daughter Kate (Ella Purnell), Ward takes on the challenge, assembling a ragtag team of experts for the heist. They include Maria...
