Univision’s flagship Kmex-tv leads the list of stations vying for the 66th annual Los Angeles area Emmy Awards.
Kmex landed 20 noms, including bids for hard news reporting (for reporter Antonio Valverde), investigative reporting (for reporter Leon Krauze) and reporting on crime/social issues. Knbc-tv was second with 16 mentions, followed by Ktla (14), Kabc (13) and Telemundo’s Kvea (10). Time Warner Cable Deportes was the top cabler with 9 noms, tied with indie pubcaster Kcet.
Kmex is a contender in two of the top newscast races, for morning newscast (airing between 4 a.m.-11 a.m.), and daytime newscast (11 a.m.-7 p.m.). There are no nominations in the top three newscast categories, which include the category of late newscasts (7 p.m.-midnight); all stations that choose to enter in any of the three categories are considered in the final judging.
