The life of a former Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus tiger came to a sudden end on Wednesday.
Suzy, a 6-year-old Bengal tiger who used to perform with the Feld Entertainment circus before it closed, escaped her handler’s care during a transport from Florida to Tennessee.
A spokesman for the company, Stephen Payne, told People that Suzy and 13 other tigers, still considered to be Feld Entertainment property, were being transported from Florida to Tennessee so they could eventually be sent to another circus in Germany.

If elephants were her patients, the "Nurse Jackie" star would take them out of the circus.
In a new ad for PETA, actress Edie Falco urges parents to keep their children away from the circus to protest the alleged abuse of elephant performers.
The video, posted to YouTube March 18, accuses Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus of slamming baby elephants to the ground, shocking them with prods and beating them with bullhooks to train them. The video also shows footage of elephants apparently being whacked by bullhooks right before a show.
A PETA press release indicated the plea was timed so former "Sopranos" actress Falco, a New Yorker, could urge New York City residents to boycott the Ringling Bros. run at Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, March 20-April 1.
Jada Pinkett Smith, Demi Moore and Alec Baldwin have previously supplied their famous voices to PETA's elephant campaign.

Compliance is a tough cinematic experience, as set inside a fast food restaurant. A thriller with more meat than a Big Mac, it’s tough to sit through, and it’s tough to process afterward. With excellent power through tension, this story about a fast food manager tooled around by a police officer can certainly be uncomfortable for audiences in some chapters (without showing a drop of blood).
Having had such a rough chewing with this film when I first saw it at SXSW, I was surprised (and am now pleased to share) that the film’s writer/director Craig Zobel is of the exact opposite demeanor to his movie. Though his intense movie might seem like the product of an angry filmmaker, Zobel is extremely friendly (if not wonderfully goofy), especially when chatting his first kiss experience (at Space Camp). And while the movie is bound to make for aggressive Q&A screenings,...

People enjoy showbiz, but elephants do not. This is the message Alec Baldwin delivers in a disturbing four-minute video recently released with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to raise awareness of elephant mistreatment in circuses.
According to Baldwin, elephants in a circus live very different lives from animals in the wild, beginning as babies when "they are torn away form their mothers and forced to begin training for their circus performances."
Baldwin goes on to describe the treatment of some elephants in circuses, describing photos taken by a Ringling trainer allegedly showing "the terrified baby elephants as they are stretched out, slammed to the ground, gauged with bullhooks, and shocked with electric prods. They scream, cry and struggle while they are forced into the painful positions necessary for circus tricks."

Latest: British soul star Corinne Bailey Rae's musician husband died from a "suspected drugs overdose", an inquest into his death has heard.
The body of saxophonist Jason Rae, 31, was discovered in a Leeds, England flat last Saturday.
Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs. He has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A post-mortem examination carried out on Rae's body on Saturday night proved inconclusive.
Appearing at Leeds Coroner's Court on Thursday, Detective Superintendent Steve Payne told the hearing there were no signs of trauma or violence, or any significant indications of natural disease.
Deputy Assistant Coroner Roger Chapman said the pathologist's report suggested Rae's death was the result of drugs, but further tests were needed to confirm the preliminary conclusion.
The hearing, which was not attended by any of the Rae family, was adjourned and will commence once the results of the toxicology tests are in.
