Chicago – When The Beatles changed pop music forever in the early 1960s, they also launched a worldwide revolution of bands and songwriters. One such star was Teddy Robin Kwan, who founded Teddy Robin & the Playboys in Hong Kong, and rightly took the crown as “The King of Asian Pop.” And for his second act, the small-but-mighty Kwan became one of Hong Kong’s top film composers, as well as a director and actor of note. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Asian Pop-Up Cinema series Closing Night Gala in Chicago on May 11th, 2017.
Teddy Robin Kwan was born in South Central China, and formed the band “Teddy Robin & the Playboys” in the mid 1960s. Using influences like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Ventures and The Shadows, Kwan and his group shot up the Hong Kong and Asian Pop Charts with each new hit, including a...

Chicago is rapidly becoming a major television production hub, with four network dramas currently calling the Illinois city home. Super-producer Dick Wolf‘s NBC dramas “Chicago Fire,” “Chicago P.D.” and “Chicago Med” all film on location in the city, along with Lee Daniels‘ hip-hop drama “Empire” for Fox. “We make it easy and affordable for people to work here,” Rich Moskal, the director of the Chicago Film Office, told TheWrap. “There’s a 30 percent tax credit on local expenditures–so crew, talent, local vendors, any local money. It does not include out of town expenditures. It’s very specific to incentivize the use of Illinois.

After just a few short years of being away, Batman is coming back to Chicago. New reports have revealed that Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice is scheduled to move production to the Windy City in the early days of November, before then moving on to several surrounding communities for another week and a half. Many of you will remember that Christopher Nolan previously had the city substitute for Gotham in his Dark Knight movies, but this time around it will be turned into Metropolis, just like it was for Man Of Steel. Rich Moskal, the director of the Chicago Film Office confirmed to My Fox Chicago that Ben Affleck.s Dark Knight and Henry Cavill.s Man Of Steel will be going toe-to-toe downtown before then moving further afield in just over a month.s time. After the "Transformers 4" crew spent much of the weekend torching cars, blowing up buildings and flying helicopters under bridges downtown, the production moved north to the city's Uptown neighborhood starting Wednesday.
The blockbuster's star Mark Wahlberg was spotted along with co-star T.J. Miller shooting scenes on North Broadway Street on Wednesday. According to the Chicago Tribune, a portion of the strip just north of West Lawrence Avenue has been temporarily morphed into a Texas town. The inside of the iconic Uptown Theatre was reportedly decorated with posters reading "SXSW Music Fest Jun 8, 2002."
(Check out Uptown Update for photos of Wahlberg on the "Transformers" shoot in Uptown.)
Though we didn't catch a glimpse of Wahlberg when we stopped by the shoot late Thursday morning, we did get a good view of some impressive classic cars, guys in western wear and some "new" fake businesses along the stretch including "Star of...

Director Michael Bay and company spent the weekend torching cars, blowing up buildings and wreaking general havoc in downtown Chicago -- all in the name of "Transformers 4" filming, that is.
Filming for the latest installment of the blockbuster franchise kicked off production in the city on Friday with explosions at the McCormick Place plaza. The building, being used a stand-in for Hong Kong, was reportedly covered in Chinese ads during filming.
According to the Tribune, low-flying helicopters skimmed just above the Chicago River, flying under the bridge near Wacker Drive Sunday morning. Other scenes were shot near the Bean in Millennium Park where a bearded Kelsey Grammer (the former fictional mayor of Chicago) looked on while extras ran screaming across the plaza (embedded above).
Onlookers around downtown snapped photos and videos of every possible sneak peek, including a parade of ultra-expensive cars, star Transformers Bumblebee, Optimus Prime and Hound,...
