Shooting at Oxford University has commenced for director Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of X-Men: First Class. Some of the shooting was caught in set photos revealed last week that depicted Professor Charles Xavier, a.k.a. Professor X (James McAvoy) walking in the rain with shape-shifter Raven Darkhölme, a.k.a. Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) and Dr. Moira MacTaggert (Rose Byrne). The Oxford Student (via SuperHeroHype) spoke to location manager Tony Hood about what was shot during the two days of shooting that will "produce only a few minutes of useable footage."
The scenes shot in Oxford will include Xavier getting doctorates in theology and philosophy from Oxford University in the 1960s, his manipulation of student uprisings using his psychic powers, and the way he meets best friend turned arch rival Magneto [(Michael Fassbender)].
Shooting has now moved indoors to the legendary Pinewood Studios, where, according to OnLocationVacations, McAvoy was injured after tipping over in a golf cart.
