Deadline reports that FX is teaming up with Sean “Diddy” Combs and his production company Revolt to produce the animated comedy Brightmoor. Written by Detroit comedian Cp and former King of the Hill writer Chip Hall, the show is described as a "black South Park" that takes place in inner-city Detroit and focuses on the young African-American students of Brightmoor Elementary. FX is looking for its next animated hit after Archer, and if the success of TeRio is any indication, inner-city elementary-school children might be the way to go.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has sold an animated comedy series to FX networks, titled "Brightmore Elementary," which has been put into development. Described as, according to Deadline, the series will follow black students of Brightmore Elementary school. Director Peter Segal and his Callahan Filmworks partner Michael Ewing have signed a three-year first-look deal with Warner Brothers, report the trades. Segal’s credits include Tommy Boy, Anger Management and this past summer’s Get Smart. Segal and Ewing kick off the pact with Liam McBain: International Tennis Star and Proper English Geezer. The film follows the rise, fall and ultimate redemption of a fictional British tennis star of the '80s. It was written by Chip Hall (TV’s King of the Hill) and Segal is developing the project with plans to direct. As part of the deal, WB has also acquired the John August-scripted Captain Marvel, an adaptation of the DC comic that Segal will direct. He and Ewing began working on the film two years ago at New Line. It tells the story of teenaged Billy Batson, who transforms into the superhero when he says the word "Shazam!
