Johnny Depp reportedly gave up his co-ownership of trendy Los Angeles nightclub The Viper Room following the controversy of his missing ex-partner. Depp has been caught up in the scandal surrounding the disappearance of businessman Anthony Fox, who went missing two years ago, and hasn't been heard of since. Now, as part of a legal settlement, Depp has quietly handed over his ownership of the trendy club to Fox's daughter, who plans to sell the Sunset Strip club. Sources close to Depp claim the movie star lost interest in the club in recent years after his friend River Phoenix died outside The Viper Room in 1993.

Johnny Depp is on the verge of losing his hip Hollywood nightclub The Viper Room after being charged with fraud. The actor's former business partner Anthony Fox sued Depp back in 2001, claiming the Hollywood hunk cheated him out of millions of dollars through "shady accounting and fraud." Fox alleged that Depp cheated him by hiding assets in another company and took advantage of him. Fox then mysteriously disappeared and hasn't been heard of since, but the investigation into The Viper Room's "mismanagement" continued - and now a Los Angeles judge is close to ruling in the absent Fox's favor and shutting the place down. In a statement, officials report, "Defendant Depp breached his fiduciary duties to the corporation and to Fox as a minority shareholder. The facts establish persistent and pervasive fraud and mismanagement and abuse of authority." A final ruling is expected next week and if the preliminary ruling sticks, Depp will be forced to sell up. Meanwhile, Fox's disappearance remains an open investigation.
