Whitney Houston's final film, Sparkle, is still set for release this August. A remake of the 1976 film, it stars Jordan Sparks and contains new original music recorded by Houston.
My favorite part in this how-to guide about having sex with an alien is "Treat tentacles, for example, not as an obstacle, but an opportunity," but it's all pretty great.
Washington Governor Gregoire is set to sign the marriage equality bill today, kicking off the window for opponents to begin gathering signatures for a referendum to block fairness.
The Westminster Kennel Show has replaced Pedigree with Purina as an official sponsor because Pedigree's commercials about pet adoption were too sad for the show. Critics are also claiming that Pedigree's focus on getting homes for mixed breed dogs in shelters conflicts with the purebred mission of Westminster, who denies the charge. Purina's commercials will be full of wagging tails and ball chasing.

So things got a bit heated on the set of X-Men: First Class with James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender. In a fab montage, the pair go on a recruiting drive, in which they perch on a strip-club bed. "That scene got exceptionally silly at one point," says McAvoy. "I don't know if I'm even allowed to tell you what originally happened. But it got pretty f---in' kinky. I'm not joking" Was the dashing duo's bromance, uh, consummated? "Unfortunately no. But there was a little bit of cross-dressing going on. That's all you need to know."
Did Friday Night Lights fail because Glee succeeded? And is that fair? The New York Times weighs in with a resounding “No!” that will have Gleeks far and wide fuming.
The Army has put up a site dedicated to answering questions about the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal. Maybe they’re serious about this thing after all.

To support The Dark Knight, Warner Premiere offered up Batman: Gotham Knight, a collection of stories from various animators that were dark and largely uninteresting. It’s gratifying to see that they have learned from this rare misfire and have offered up a companion to this month’s The Green Lantern feature film with Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, on sale Tuesday. There are five stories, largely culled from the comic books, with a sixth tale connecting everything together. Essentially, Krona, the fallen Guardian, has come back from banishment as an enormous, angry form, having coalesced within a star. Summoning Shadow Demons from the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward, Krona threatens the Guardians and their world of Oa.
The entire Green Lantern Corps has been summoned to deal with this cosmic danger but they pause to stand in line to take their turn recharging their rings. While waiting patiently to save all of reality,...

I really can’t find any flaws with Daniel Radcliffe. He’s cute, he’s talented, he’s polite, he’s insanely rich. And he helps out The Trevor Project. So the Trevor Project is going to award him their Hero Award next month. I guess he can put it beside the one he got for defeating Voldemort.
On Friday came the not-so surprising announcement that the Chicago Cubs would become the second Mlb team to make an It Gets Better video. It wasn’t so surprising because Laura Ricketts, a lesbian, owns the team with her family and sits on the board. But what was so surprising was that 24 hours later, in response to a petition by a 12-year-old, the Boston Red Sox would announce their intent to make a video themselves.
Meanwhile, coming out in the locker room remains a difficult trick to master, even at an elite school like Stanford.

It seems only a year or so ago that I recall Elizabeth Taylor tweeting something to the effect that “the only person who is going to play Elizabeth Taylor while I’m alive is me.” Sadly, she’s gone. Now Martin Scorsese is said to be planning a movie about her torrid affair with Richard Burton. No word on casting.
Fox has ordered a second episode of Family Album starring Mike O’Malley, making it much more likely that it will get picked up as a midseason show. As long as he still has time to be TV’s Best Dad.
Deric Richie has issued a public apology for faking the teen suicide report about fictional Terrel Williams. His reasons, using it as a coping mechanism for his own despair at being gay, are heartbreaking, but the reaction to his apology are mixed. You should read his own words.

Happy 63rd Birthday to the incomparable Grace Jones. I'm not sure if she has enough output for most people to make a top five, but here are mine: 5. "Little Drummer Boy (Pee-Wee's Playhouse)," 4. "La Vie En Rose," 3. "I'm Not Perfect (But I'm Perfect For You)," 2. "Demolition Man," 1. "Slave To The Rhythm." spacecast.com has a series of interview clips with John Barrowman discussing Torchwood: Miracle Day. The money quote: "The one thing that I'm exceptionally proud of, and that I know Russell is, we've got a bisexual hero, or an omni-sexual hero, played by an openly gay man. And that may be tooting my own horn a bit, but it's a big first in our industry, and I'm really proud to be part of that. Although people may look at this series and say that he's not really bisexual, he's really gay in this series ... which is not a bad thing either.

We had already reported it, but now it’s official that Neil Patrick Harris is back to host the Tony Awards.
Lots of action over at Fox. New Girl with Zooey Deschanel is picked up to series, as is Alcatraz from Jj Abrams and Bones spinoff The Finder. They also canceled Human Target, Chicago Code, and Breaking In, which I was enjoying. And now Lie To Me is gone. I haven’t read the sides for the new Fox shows yet, but nothing gay pops out at me.
There’s also unofficial news that NBC has renewed Harry’s Law (which had the transgender storyline this year), canceled Law & Order: La, and picked up Wonder Woman to series.
Meanwhile, odds are running 50/50 on Happy Endings getting another season, which makes me sad.
Lady Gaga will make her new album available early in a Farmville spinoff called GagaVille that you can...

Brooklyn-born actress Rosie Perez reserved choice words for her fellow New Yorker and Puerto Rican, state senator Ruben Diaz Sr., telling the antigay Democrat in a new video, “You are not speaking for the majority of New York Latinos.”Perez filmed the video to help raise money for Fight Back New York, the Pac dedicated to defeating state legislators who vote against equality. Last year, Diaz Sr. of the Bronx was one of eight Democrats who voted against the marriage equality bill that failed the state senate by a 38-24 vote. Perez began by expressing her general disappointment with her home state.”Are you kidding me? Iowa’s got the jump on us, New York?” asked Perez. “We’re the world’s freakin’ city. We take the lead and dictate to the rest on how to do this, and you can’t tie the knot if you bat for the other team,...
