On Sunday at the Al Bayt Stadium, Gareth Southgate’s side went into the half time break leading 2-0, opening the scoring in the 38th minute and adding a second in injury stoppage time of the opening session.
England netted a third one 13 minutes into the second half to take the game away from Aliou Cisse’s side and set up a quarter-final clash with France, which earlier on Sunday defeated Poland 3-1.
England and France have met twice before at the World Cup, both in group games which England won 2-0 en route to the 1966 title and 3-1 in 1982 and thus France will be looking for a positive result when the two meet on Sunday December 10 at Al Bayt Stadium.
Two other teams, Netherlands and Argentina which have already qualified, on Saturday, for the last-eight stage will clash on December 9 at Lusail Stadium.

Doha (Qatar), Dec 3 (Ians) England face Senegal in the FIFA World Cup last 16 on Sunday in Al Bayt, around 50 kilometers from Doha.
Gareth Southgate’s men will go into the match as favourites after scoring nine goals in the group stage.
So far, when England have been good in this World Cup, they have been very good indeed, with a midfield and attack moving the ball at pace and exploiting the speed and mobility of Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Mason Mount, Phil Foden and Marcus Rashford.
However, the USA showed that with tight, energetic marking, they can be stopped, reducing their play to sterile horizontal passing across the back.
Foden and Rashford came into the side against Wales and impressed, with Rashford scoring twice and Foden also finding the target, as well as adding creativity. Southgate now has to decide whether to stick with the duo or bring back Mount and Saka.

Doha, Nov 22 (Ians) Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal admitted he was not entirely satisfied after his team produced a late burst to beat Senegal 2-0 in their FIFA World Cup Group A match on Monday.
The Netherlands dominated for long stages of the first half but lacked a cutting edge in the final third at the Thumama Stadium. Senegal had several clear scoring chances in the second half before Cody Gakpo and Davy Klaassen struck in the last 15 minutes for the Dutch.
“It was an efficient victory,” Van Gaal told a post-match press conference. “We played the first half with poor decision-making when carrying the ball. But we still created five chances. In the second half the match was more balanced … (but) I was quite calm because I always had the feeling we would score.”
Van Gaal, who replaced Frank de Boer as Netherlands manager in June 2021, said his players benefitted from superior fitness,...
