12 Glam TV shows that should have had AT LEAST one more season
TV shows that got cancelled prematurely, but also old favorites that really had the strength to go one more round.
To clarify, some shows are on a Critical List, FIREFLY and THE SECRET CIRCLE, for instance. Both generated efforts by fandom to rescue them, both were cancelled prematurely. Other shows clearly ran their time, notably FRIENDS, but gets special mention here, on what, in lieu of a better name, I will call my Obstinate-About List.
Important Statement:
(and TV execs should bother to read this)
There is no way you could ascertain what people watch in the privacy of their homes on TV channels other than that nefarious Nielsen Rating thing, and that is screwy to say the least. How come people with a foreign surname are representative of all of America? How come people do not object to their own views not taken into account? Why be dictated to just because your surname isn't lofty-la-de-dah -insert trumpet fare here- high and mighty Nielsen? Even among the Nielsens though, whatever the results brought in by surveillance of their cable TV hookup to the phone, it's not going to tell you if they actually liked what they were watching, so letting the future of a new TV series or a planned DVD release ride on this, is shaky from the start.
If the damned car or damned washing liquid or damned tin of baked beans or damned insurance policy being touted during the infernal ad breaks doesn't sell the next day as much as was hoped for, it might well be for reasons OTHER than that not enough people were tuned in. Maybe the damned car was too overpriced and maybe the washing liquid was outclassed by a rival, whatever, but SERIOUSLY, DUDES, there are many shows being done in as if this is an exact science.
Anybody who can refute this, feel free to contact me at RavenGlamDVDCollector@gmail.com. I am perfectly willing to accept defeat if there actually were a way in which viewing numbers could be properly ascertained, as I fully understand that TV is actually about ad revenue and the entertainment comes second, We All Just Have To Bow To The Pursuit Of The Dollar. Money Talks...
But if common sense is applied, it should be clear that a TV series like, for instance, THE SECRET CIRCLE, would have millions of fans, and cancelling that, might just be a huge mistake...
Come on, for those of you who aren't of the exalted Nielsen stock, when last was there a network spy with a little notebook in your living room?
Meanwhile, it is noted that we have CSI This & CSI That but many gems get trampled. And I'm complaining!
To all the Americans out there, take better charge of your lives! By not letting your voice be counted, THEY will decide for you if your favorite show is going to get cancelled or not released on DVD. And in the near future, THEY will decide lots and lots more for you simply because you don't have NIELSEN stamped onto your bloodline.
I say to hell with a system that doesn't include all the people! Let all the people, at their own cost, be linked up to this electronic spy, and then we will really know what each other is thinking and we'll live in a grand old Orwellian paradise.
Until then, do not assume that you are making the right decision by shafting quality shows, and replacing them with junk. The Nielsens of the world might be prolific, but that only proves they breed like bunnies but they don't necessarily know about great entertainment because why else are so many great shows cancelled before their time?
