1. Eric (2024)
Crime, Drama, Thriller | Completed
Vincent, a grief-stricken father whose son goes missing, finds solace through his friendship with Eric, the monster that lives under Edgar's bed.
Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Gaby Hoffmann, Jeff Hephner, McKinley Belcher III
Another miniseries staring Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead as an grieving alcoholic looking for his son, accompanied by seven foot tall monster as a friend. The premise of this includes so many interesting topics already: Patrick Melrose meets a mature version of Sesame Street. :)
2. Blade (2025)
Action, Fantasy, Horror | Pre-production
Plot under wraps.
Director: Yann Demange | Stars: Mia Goth, Mahershala Ali, Delroy Lindo
I did not like the first version of this with Wesley Snipes - but the premise of it was awesome. So hopefully with the MCU's new take on this character, as well as the brilliant Mahershala Ali in the lead role, it will be a much better film .
3. Spawn (II)
Action, Adventure, Drama | Announced
The new Spawn movie will be a R-rated supernatural horror film.
Star: Jamie Foxx
I really loved the animated series, so here's to hoping the second film version will be amazing too as this is a comic book story that deserves the big screen.
4. Rogue Male
Drama, Thriller | Announced
A hunter's failed attempt to assassinate a dictator forces him to seek hiding back home in the rural English countryside.
Director: Bart Layton
An epic, classic British tale of survival starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role. Yep, that's for me!
5. Thunderbolts (2025)
Action, Adventure, Crime | Filming
A group of supervillains are recruited to go on missions for the government.
Director: Jake Schreier | Stars: Florence Pugh, Rachel Weisz, Olga Kurylenko, Sebastian Stan
The first official Marvel team up since Avengers: Endgame. Definitely here for that!
6. The Fantastic Four (2025)
Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi | Pre-production
One of Marvel's most iconic families makes it back to the big screen, the Fantastic Four.
Director: Matt Shakman | Stars: Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser
The Fantastic Four have had more than a rough ride in their big screen history. I desperately want this to work and finally see Marvel's first super hero team being done some justice.
7. The 39 Steps
Drama, Thriller | Announced
Follows an ordinary man, who becomes an unwitting pawn in a vast, global conspiracy to reset the world order.
Star: Benedict Cumberbatch
Cumberbatch stars in this revamped version of the classic spy thriller from the early 20th century. Since it will be modernised, I've decided to not read the source material and just go in with no prior knowledge of the plot.
8. Captain America: Brave New World (2025)
Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi | Post-production
Plot kept under wraps. Fourth movie in the Captain America franchise.
Director: Julius Onah | Stars: Harrison Ford, Rosa Salazar, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson
The synopsis of this film looks extremely promising and exciting. With Sam Wilson assembling new heroes to fight against Secretary Ross, now played by Harrison Ford, to stop him starting a war to obtain adamantium (the metal in Wolverine's skeleton) this actually appears to go back to the old days of Marvel: High stakes, lower scale.
9. How to Stop Time
Announced
A man is bestowed with the ability to live for centuries without ever aging a day.
Director: Tomas Alfredson | Star: Benedict Cumberbatch
Ever since I read this book, it has stayed with me. Benedict Cumberbatch is perfect for the lead role, especially since the author had him in mind for the part while writing it! :)
10. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
Drama, History | Pre-production
Follows Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo, who chooses an unknown reporter to tell her life story. Evelyn recounts her time in the Golden Age of Hollywood and her seven marriages.
Director: Leslye Headland
I LOVED this book! It's one of my top recommended novels. The story follows a fictional old school starlet who marries a staggering 7 husbands throughout her life and has a secret connection to the woman who is writing her biography.
11. Wicked (2024)
Fantasy, Musical, Romance | Post-production
After two decades as one of the most beloved and enduring musicals on the stage, Wicked makes its long-awaited journey to the big screen as a spectacular, generation-defining cinematic event this holiday season.
Director: Jon M. Chu | Stars: Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey, Marissa Bode
I didn't think this movie was ever going to get made because of the amount of time it took to get it greenlit. But I'm so glad it's finally happening as I've been wanting to see it for years.
12. Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
PG-13 | 101 min | Comedy, Horror, Romance
A coming of RAGE love story about a teenager and her crush, who happens to be a corpse. After a set of horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a journey to find love, happiness - and a few missing body parts.
Director: Zelda Williams | Stars: Kathryn Newton, Liza Soberano, Jenna Davis, Trina LaFargue
Votes: 14,733
From Jennifer's Body's Diablo Cody and first time directer Zelda Williams (the late Robin Williams's daughter) comes a gross, unusual horror romance
13. The Thing with Feathers
Filming
A father and his two young sons dealing with the sudden death of their wife and mother.
Director: Dylan Southern | Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Adam Basil, Eric Lampaert, Pierre Bergman
Another Cumberbatch movie about grief and family relationships is always right up my street! This time they will be joined by a crow! :O
