Following from a recommendation by Red Letter Media, I love this film. It has the same vibe as American Pyscho and Kill Your Friends with Jim Cumming's Jordan Hines channelling the same untethered manic characteristics as Patrick Bateman and Steven Stelfox. Watching and revelling in someone going mad is not an easy ask but Cumming's plays the character of Jordan Hines perfectly. Upon seeing the film, I bought the Arrow Blu Ray the same day.
The acting and co-direction by Jim Cummings is superb. If you watch the "making off" on the Blu-Ray you can appreciate the talent and hard work that Cummings and PJ McCabe put into this project. It was very inspiring.
Although the film has an indie vibe to it, that plays to its advantage because the characters are not sheltered with plot armour that comes from an established name. The twists and turns had me guessing, and I enjoyed the fact we are second guessing why this is happening to Jordan, as he is too. The repeated use of Mozart's Requiem in D Minor as a motif to imply Jordan is slowly losing his sanity is both funny and very effective. It is the simple things like that which take this film to the next level.
This film may not be for everyone but if you want to see a pretty good Hitchcock-lite "who done it" then I recommend The Beta Test.
