Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers (1988)
Don't Be An Unhappy Camper
If you hate this film that means that you took it seriously. This movie is not meant for those searching for brilliant acting and touching characters that you can relate to. This is a movie for people who want to see people die in horrible gory ways. This movie, as well as the first and third movies, contains some of the most bizarre murders you can possibly think of. This is a movie for die hard horror fans that can look past how cheesy this movie appears to be. Gore hounds will love the Sleepaway camp movies. I recommend it to anyone that likes movies with bad acting and cheesy special effects. Even if you don't like these kinds of movies I would watch it in order to learn how to use power tools. MUH HA HA
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
Candy for the Eyes and Ears
Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory is the story of an eccentric owner of a candy company named Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder) who holds a contest to find five golden tickets in his candy bars. Whoever finds them will be allowed to enter his factory. Amongst the winners is an average boy named Charlie. Charlie and others are led by Willy Wonka through a world of imagination and wonder.
This is absolutely one of the greatest children's movies ever created. Not only does it please the eyes with its fantasy world full of imagination and vibrant colors, it contains great songs that you will be singing for a weeks to come. Gene Wilder portrays Willy Wonka brilliantly by being crazy and unpredictable. This is a must see for anyone looking for a movie that is both entertaining and fun.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
You Will Love the Nightmare
Jack Skellington, aka the Pumpkin King, is a skeleton who is in charge of planning out Halloween. He lives in a place called Halloween Town which is inhabited by ghouls and monsters who eagerly count each day until the next Halloween. Jack longs for something different and discovers Christmas which is ironically the polar opposite of Halloween. Jack and the rest of Halloween Town decide to give Christmas a try. Underneath the main plot of taking over Christmas, there is a love story between Jack and Sally. Sally is a creation of the Evil Scientist. She also longs for something different just as Jack does, but feels his plan will not work.
The visual aspect of Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas is probably what it is most remembered for. This is the first movie to consist entirely of stop motion animation. Stop motion animation is one of the hardest things to do, and it takes a very long time. You would have figures or something else and you would take a picture of them. Then you would move them slightly and take another picture. You would repeat this over and over. I believe each second of the film is about 24 pictures. Different images, such as Jack and Sally on the hill, will stay with you for the rest of your life. The music by Danny Elfman is another factor which makes this movie great. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is an excellent movie for all ages.
Midnight Cowboy (1969)
Distubing, Heart Wrenching, and shocking....yet you'll love it
Midnight Cowboy is the story of Joe Buck (Jon Voight), a Texas boy who dreams of going to New York City and making a fortune by becoming a 'hustler' (male prostitute). Joe Buck soon finds out that being a cowboy hustler in the Big Apple is not as easy as he had anticipated. He gets ripped off by a few people including a hygienically impaired small time con man named Ratso Rizzo (Dustin Hoffman). Ratso dreams of going to Florida where he feels that he will be respected and loved unlike his current condition in New York where he is treated like trash and has to steal whatever he can get just to get by. These two outcasts become friends and together struggle through the hardships that face them everyday.
Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman deliver absolutely phenomenal performances. They were born to play these characters. They make you feel like your right beside them walking down the streets of New York. Director John Schlesinger uses amazing images to show Joe's past and what is going on inside Joe's head. The movie was originally rated X for some of its scenes involving Joe's 'work' as well as a drug party hosted by Hansel and Gretel. In the end Midnight Cowboy is an excellent movie and is essential in any film collection.
