Evil Nanny (2016)
Like a Mexican soap opera...
As a TV movie is may not be bad. Specially if you cannot put 100% attention to it. The overall story is appealing, but it feels so unreal in most parts. Some performances are really bad, like those from the cops. They may also be the result of a bad direction. The story has potential but it looks to exaggerate a lot for theatrical purposes, making this movie completely forgettable.
La La Land (2016)
A film for old WASP
"Let's make America great again," and this is his kind of movie. This is a film directed at WASP who long for the times of The Racial Segregation. Syruped with a touch of "fantasy land" where everything is clean, colorful, safe, prosperous, rich, neat, and without the least concern. Everything ready so that the characters, impeccable model of a WASP, overcome small obstacles to achieve their dream life. Black People -Negroes- only exist as a bearable cargo, and are a mere accessory. There are no colored people of any kind, nor any race. The only Latino person -spic-, who only appears to the end, is an acceptable accident. The rest is only white, for racist WASP, who miss the "old southern white times", and for whom, the rest of humanity does not exist, except to abuse it by waging war and then, we know the rest... White men and women of the last century who have always lived longing for the world of white fantasy that some rulers of the contemporary America have promised them that someday will come. It is a shameful that The Academy have given Oscars to this type of film.
Bridge of Spies (2015)
Great acting performance but a squared story line "Spielberg"
The movie is entertaining but with a very foreseeable sequence. When Spielberg films about Germans he has become a cliché, to the point that it seems that in real life he has strong feeling against them.
Spielberg exalts the American values (not something that is bad) at the expense of creating a very black-and-white reality point of view. Once again, the movie is nice because of several factors (performance, the created atmosphere, etc.), but it is not intelligent enough to motivate deeper reflection.
While the "good guys" have richer shades of grey, Spielberg almost always portraits cartoonish "bad guys".
The good thing about this movie, is that as a Walt Disney movie, it has a high motivational value that with a happy ending, help people to enjoy the time.
Mamma Mia! (2008)
James Bond is a good choice for Mamma Mia!
James Bond is a good choice for Mamma Mia! why? Because you don't expect to see to Pierce Brosnan, singing the songs of ABBA, and falling in love for Meryl Streep. He did not sang with the desired quality. Much more, his vocal efforts are almost laughable. Perfect! because he is not the invincible macho-hero who kick asses in Russia or third world countries. In this movie he characterizes as an architect who seek for her lost daughter, and the woman of his dreams. He's not so invincible now: Music, the great songs of ABBA, and the storyline have the power. Yes, he sang out of tune, and thats fits to be a common human male. Pierce Brosnan has played various roles in his career, and it's unfair frame him only as James Bond. In fact, I think that the performer of James Bond gets humanized, a character who is known for being a Sledgehammer. And on the other hand and no less important, the wonderful chemistry, the click, achieved between Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan, just spread through the movie to fulfill the storyline and to make a perfect ending when they appear on scene, wearing a sort of ABBA style outfits, matching 1970's glam-rock and singing "Waterloo".
