Please spare yourself from watching this. It has to be one of the worst movies I have ever seen, even for SciFi Channel.

Basically it's about four college students (one of them looks 40 years old) who pull a sword out of a stone (how original).

This unleashes a cheesy c.g.i. looking "rock monster" (hence the original title).

This Movie Contains: *The worst acting I've ever seen. *Cheesy effects *Boring plot line & a slow moving pace

Please Avoid At All Costs.

P.S. The next time your bus breaks down, and you decide to take a detour through a spooky forest in the middle or nowhere, rather than waiting for another bus, don't pull any swords out of any stones. =]

Black Christmas (2006)

Decent modern day slasher

I've heard 2 complaints over and over again. The first is that all horror movies these days are scene by scene remakes. The second is that all horror movie, like these remakes are rated PG-13. This movie, while a remake, other than the basic plot, has almost no similarity to the original. It also is rated R, with no a lot, but a good amount of blood. Yet, people complain, despite the fact that this, not a great movie, but an enjoyable holiday slasher. The story follows, the same basic plot of the original. An unseen phone caller stalks sorority sisters. In this movie they explain the killer's back story, unlike the original. The movie was not scary. It was creepy though and entertaining. The characters weren't well characterized, but they didn't need to be, because many of them didn't last to long, and you feel like a character thats killed within the first 2 minutes, is characterized better than the major characters. The acting was good, and unlike other reviews, the cast isn't hard to tell apart, as they all get their own personalities, such as the drunk and the nice girl. I also liked the main cast of Katie Cassidy, Michelle Trachtenberg, Crystal Lowe, Kristen Cloke, and Andrea Martin (who was in the original).If you were disappointed with other remakes and modern horror movies, you may be disappointed with this as well, but you can't say you got bored.

Abominable (2006)

Good for a SciFi channel movie!

Many people are saying how bad and horrible this movie is. I would have to disagree. This may not be an academy award winner, but compared to other SciFi channel movies (such as King Kobra Vs Komodo, released the week after), it is much better. It is probably the bets SciFi original I've ever seen, with the exception of Dog Soldiers. This movie was also not filled to the top with hundreds of C.G.I monsters and effects. Anyone you ask will say, a guy in a monster suit, looks better than some C.G.I monster. The story is about 5 young girls, who go to a cabin, for a relaxing vacation. In the cabin next to them is Preston Rogers, a crippled man, and his assistant Otis. During the movie, many people are killed by this enormous Yeti, as Preston basically watches from his window, the whole movie. Of course the police won't believe that the monster is real. The acting isn't great, but it isn't horrible. Some notable people are in this movie such as Lance Henriksen, Dee Wallace-Stone, and Ashley Hartman or "The O.C". Overall this movie is a good and entertaining watch, with a lot of gore. Abominable is rated R, and stars Haley Joel, Karin Anna Cheung, Lance Henrikson, Paul Gleason, Matt McCoy, and Ashely Hartman

Final Destination 3 (2006)

Frightening Thrill Ride From Beginning to End

I didn't go into FD3 with very high expectations. FD1 was great. FD 2 was awful. This movie could have went any direction for me...and gladly it went in the same direction as FD1. FD3 was awesome. It had a lot of suspense, a lot of gore, and some nudity is thrown in the mix as well.

The story of FD3 is about a girl named Wendy who predicts a huge roller-coaster accident killing her peers, and herself. After making a scene while getting on the ride, Wendy, and a few of her peers, get caught up in the mix, and they all get kicked off the ride. The ride then crashes killing, a few of Wendy's peers, and others. After her friends start dieing, in horrific accidents, Wendy finds that the pictures she took of them at the carnival have clues, about how the survivors of the accident, will die. It is then up to Wendy, and her best friends boyfriend, Kevin, to warn the people about there upcoming deaths.

This movie was really awesome. The effects weren't spectacular, but they were decent. This movie contains (spoilers) a tanning bed fire, a engine blade in the head, nails shot though the head, a flag pole through the chest, a head crushed by weights, a sign falling, and much more.

FD3 stars a group of excellent actors and actresses which include Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ryan Merriman, Kris Lemche, Amanda Crew, Alexz Johnson, Chelan Simmons, Crystal Lowe, Texas Battle, Sam Easton, Maggie Ma, Gina Holden, and Jesse Moss.

Crocodile (2000 Video)

Decent Croc Flick

I caught this film on SciFi channel. I must say it was not all that bad. The acting, plot, and crocodile's were all "decent". The story is about a group of 8 teens who go out to party on a yacht, only to be chowed upon by an angry crocodile. The stars amongst the group are the sweet Claire, her boyfriend Brady, and the girl who crushes on him, Sunny. Also along for the ride is Kit, Annabelle, Foster, and Hubs. Also along in the story is Sheriff Bowman. The crocodile wasn't bad looking, and surprisingly with low budget monster films, wasn't CGI. I wouldn't rent this or buy it, but its Worth a watch, on account of its frequently on SciFi channel. I give it a 6/10 Crocodile stars a bunch of unknowns, who for most of them, this was their first movie. Mark McLachlan, Caitlin Martin, Chris Solari, Sommer Knight, Julie Mintz, D.W Reiser, Rhett Wilkins, and Greg Wayne star.

When a Stranger Calls (2006)

2006 Horror starts off on a good mark!

I went to see this movie and didn't have high expectations. The preview looked like Camilla Belle was a terrible actress. TRhe movie turned out excellent. It is about a girl named Jill who has to babysit in a giant mansion in the middle of nowhere. She keeps getting these stranger calls. That is the whole plot of the movie. The plot may seem lame but it kept everyone in the theaters's interest. Some parts people were screaming, clapping, laughing, and cheering. Katie Cassidy also did well as the co-star. I thought it was awesome. Me and my friends all loved it. Oh, and for people who complain about PG-13 horror movies. Stop Complaining! THis movie was awesome, and don't think that people cant die in a pg-13 because they do. I give this movie a 10/10. Go see it !

Black Christmas (1974)

A great holiday slasher

I got this movie for Christmas, and watched it for Christmas. i was totally satisfied, and watching it in my uncles bedroom, upstairs in a big house, i got really scared. This movie is really creepy as the P.O.V shots show you what the killer is watching. I mean really creepy.

The story centers on 4 sorority sisters, Jess, Barb, Phyllis, and Claire. Also involved in the story is 3 boyfriends, Peter, Chris, and Patrick, a drunker house mother, Mrs.MacHenry, and Lt. Fuller and Sgt. Nash. The girls get obscene phone calls, from a serial killer, who is hiding in their house, killing the girls off.

The acting for the most part was wonderful, especially from Olivia Hussey, Margot Kidder, and Andrea Martin, the 3 main parts. Keir Dullea, John Saxon, Marian Waldman, and Lynne Griffin did good too. This movie blends together a dark frightening atmosphere, p.o.v shots, and some of the most frightening scenes in horror cinema, to create Black Christmas, a frightening horror movie that will keep you guessing from beginning to end, and have you actually be frightened for the characters, who you know are being stalked.Just don't go into watching it expecting a lot of gore, b/c the movie is based on suspense.

This movie is definitely worth the $15 plus shipping on amazon.com. I give it hands down a 10/10.

The Fog (2005)

very good for a modern day horror

The Fog, in my opinion was very good. The special effects were very good. It had many "pop-outs" which mad the audience (which consisted of half my grade) scream. Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, and Selma Blair were very good as the main roles. Mary Black, DeRay Davis, and Sonja Bennett were also good as smaller roles. The whole "atmospere" of the fog was very scary. I wouldn't worry about the gore factor, because I don't remember much blood at all. If you like zombies, stabbings, car crashes, windows breaking,and and a mysterious fog, this if a good movie for you to go see. The deaths and fright may seem lame at first, but your in for a frightening good time, as the movie picks up it's pace, and becomes even more frightening.

Venom (2005)

Scary and well thought up

Indeed it must have taken someone with a wide imagination to think up this plot (im serious ). After dieing a man who is known a the town weirdo goes after the granddaughter of the voodoo woman who caused his death after saving her life. He comes back to life a reeks havoc amongst a group of small town teens, and anyone in his path. At first I wasn't expecting much, but I got more than I expected. Venom will keep you watching and interested from start to finish with the exception of the first few minutes of the film where you meet the characters, who hang out around the local burger shop. I must say many parts of this film kept me in suspense, and I was frightened at many parts. This movie was like Land of the Dead meets the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Cry_Wolf was a better all around film but this was still one of the best movies i've seen in a while. This movie also has a numerous amount of creative and gory deaths along with some frightening scenes. Some examples are a missing corpse, a shattered window, a crowbar stabbing, a hanging body, a car garage chase, an overturned car, a stab in the leg, a chain through he wall, a creepy truck, a chain around the neck, a slit throat, voodoo rituals, a collapsing house,a tree branch through the chest, a creepy swamp,a knife in the head, and more are including in this gory thriller that will surely keep you entertained and in suspense. Gillesepie did a good job with I Know What You Did Last Summer, and he surely showed his skills directing this movie.

Cry Wolf (2005)

What a great slasher flick! (if thats what it is)

Cry_Wolf seems like an ordinary slasher flick and from the preview you think you can tell when the characters will die, but you cant.The preview totally misleads you about this movie!!!! Many parts of the preview are not in the movie!!! Such as Kristy Wu's chase scene and scene at the gate, and the scene everyone waits for with the "im" where the killer tells Julian Morris where to find his friends bodies. What a spectacular and truly frightening performance. Great job to Julian Morris, Lindy Booth, Jon Bon Jovi, Jared Padaleki, Kristy Wu, and Sandra McCoy. Bravo!!! This movie was frightening with that average teen slasher "scenes" but this movie made them truly scary. I went with my friends and believe me we were terrified!!!! There is also a twist at the end which nobody was expecting, and truly makes the movie even better. The preview definitely misleads you from the twist and a lot of the movie, so don't judge it by the preview. It was spectacular! 10/10!!! This should have got 3 stars, although 4 might have been a stretch. I thought this year was an OK year for horror. I enjoyed Cursed and House of Wax, but this was way better than those put together, even without Kristy Wu's anticipated chase to the gates. Bravo. this movie was great!!!! If you like thrills, chills, and chase scenes, go see this movie!!! You'll definitely enjoy it.

House of Wax (2005)

House of Wax was a decent slasher flick with a great theme

2005, for me has been a good year for horror movies, with the exception of The Ring 2. I thought House of Wax was a very entertaining slasher flick, with a theme other than just a deranged serial killer. This movie had a great teen cast which included Elisha Cuthbert, Chad Micheal Murray, and the one and only Paris Hilton. While I was expecting some pitiful acting, the acting really wasn't that awful and even Paris Hilton did exceptionally well. Although it seemed alittle obvious of what was about to occur to each character, the deaths were still great. At many scenes I found myself thinking "how will they escape?" or "where will they hide?". there was no nudity in this movie but Paris Hilton did strip down into her lingerie. This movie was also gory and had great death. It includes a finger cut off,decapitation, skin turned to wax, skin peeled, a rusty pole through the head, a knife in the throat, a baseball bat bashing, and quite a few foot stabbings. If this all sounds appealing to you, I would be sure to see this movie in the future, like when it comes out on DVD, which may include actress Emma Lung's death scene.
