It Does the Job
This is a good family animated movie that does exactly what it needs to do.
First it is entertaining for the kids and it has enough fun characters and funny lines and exciting things happening to keep them paying attention through the whole thing, which most parents know is half the battle of taking your kids to see a movie! All the kids in the theatre seemed to enjoy it.
Second it is entertaining for parents. At least it is entertaining enough. Unlike most kids movies some such as Frozen have some great lines or side jokes in there that are clearly just for us and there are some good payoffs.
Third it's a good story that will hold even adult people interested with some real characters you will care about and you will be invested in their problems.
Not quite as good as the hype I've heard but one of the better animated movies out there.
What About Bob? (1991)
I loved this movie. I am sure most people would disagree with me but I would probably put it in my list of the ten best comedies I have ever seen, all time.
This is Bill Murray's best work since Ghostbusters, at least as far as comedy goes. I also liked him in Broken Flowers and Lost in Translation but those were more dramatic roles.
I loved the way that Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss played off of each other. I don't want to say too much or I'll give away what happens between them through the movie but I thought they did a fantastic job at creating comedic moments. The scenes where Bob horned in on Leo's family moments and right into their home were incredible. I laughed out loud through the entire movie. And it's a good family movie anyone can enjoy.
Ten out of ten from me.
This movie wasn't very good but I thought it would be a lot worse than it was. It was far from terrible. It's about a soccer game to be played in Paris while Paris was still occupied by the Nazis. The game would have the German National Team play against (and the Nazis obviously think they will easily crash them) a team of allied prisoners of war. But the allied prisoners have other plans and they intend to use the game as an opportunity to escape from the Nazis. Sylvester Stallone is an American officer and the hero of the movie. Michael Caine is the English officer. It's pretty easy to guess how the movie goes and what happens in the end, at least we thought so. All in all an okay movie and a decent waste of time but I would recommend waiting to see it on TV. It's not worth buying or renting.
Against All Flags (1952)
Good Old Movie With Great Performances!
This is a very good pirate movie! It has all the typically good elements that a good pirate movie needs. An engaging tale of intrigue, a fiery lady pirate -- aptly named "Spitfire" Stevens, and ably played by the great Maureen O'Hara. Of course she is attracted to Errol Flynn's character, Mr. Hawke. But Hawke is on a top secret mission of his own. These two actors are great together! But my favourite is Anthony Quinn as the villain. He is fantastic in this movie. The performances are the main reason I like the film. The plot itself is nothing special, so I give it 7 out of 10. The visuals are often just okay but sometimes fantastic.
Comedy Inc. (2002)
One of the worst sketch comedy shows ever made.
Comedy Inc is horrible.
Spike TV was given this show for free and refused to air it because it was so completely awful.
Why can Spike TV see how bad it is right away and CTV keeps airing it? The Comedy Network has come up with nothing but losers for years but this show is actually produced by the main CTV network s you'd think it should have a shot at actually being funny.... but no dice.
The writing is terrible, the performances are terrible and the show's star Roman Danylow is the worst of all.
Almost every sketch shows the cast sitting around him while he acts wacky or tries to use silly accents or pretends to have orgasms in his pants.
It's not funny at all and everyone knows it, so why is it still on?
Punched Up (2006)
Dear Ian MacDonald
Please stop making TV shows because you are terrible.
I don't know you from a hole in the ground but I see on IMDb that you also make that show the Wilkersons and it is also terrible.
I don't have anything else to say other than you should be shamed of your self for taking money to make such terrible TV shows but I can't blame you really when someone is going to just give you money to not do any real work then why not take it? It's free money so I can't blame you.
It says I have to write ten lines so okay.
Punched Up is terrible.
Ham & Cheese (2004)
Ham & Give Me My Money Back
I bought this movie for 2.99 at Blockbuster thinking there is no way I will regret it because it costs less than renting a movie and it has Dave Foley and Scott Thompson of The Kids In The Hall in it.
Don't be fooled because Foley and Thompson are both in it for about a minute each. I bet they wish they didn't even do that much in it because the movie is terrible.
The worst part is the guy who plays the chubby mentally challenged guy who wants to be an actor..... the other guy in the movie also plays a stupid guy who wants to be an actor but the chubby one wins the award for worst acting ever. Sitting for an hour and a half while a guy pretends to be brain damaged so badly that he must be brain damaged in real life is not my idea of a good time. I still don't know how I managed to watch the movie all the way to the end.
Here is a typical scene the chubby stupid guy would do. "Hey chubby stupid guy I am directing this play." "Duh ...... okay." "Do you know how to act?" "Duh ..... yeah sure. I can act." "Okay then read this page." "Duh .... what's acting? Duh I'm stupid. Remember how I was stupid and didn't understand things an hour ago? Well it is still exactly the same now. You're not getting bored of this yet are you?" The other guy at least gets a smile if not a laugh for the Scott Thompson scene. Thompson's reactions to his awful acting where he does everything wrong he possibly could are very funny and he ends up attacking the guy, but like I said this is just like one minute in a whole hour and a half film.
The other characters are blah blah blah. Samantha Bee from the Daily show is in it and not bad but only in a few scenes, it would help if there were more with her or especially with Foley and Thompson. Foley was okay but his scenes were with the Chubby guy so they were ruined by his brain damaged act. An actual scene with Foley goes, the chubby guy reads a bad scene and Foley is an acting teacher, "How was that read?" "It was terrible, you should quit etc etc", "Duh...... so should I read it again?" IF that sounds annoying you are right. This movie is annoying and pretty much nothing happens in it. Two bad actors want to make it big and neither of them make it. That's the whole story so why an hour and a half? Good question I don't know either.
Pop Cultured is Awful!
Pop Cultured is awful. I cannot stand the host Elvira Kurt.
Her delivery is awful. She has no personality.
She can't interview anybody and all the interviews are with people you never heard of. In all the ones I saw it was people I had no idea who they were.
The jokes are the worst. Brain damaged gorillas could write better jokes than in this mess.
Nothing on this show is ever funny.
I hope Pop Cultured gets taken off because it is a complete waste of a half hour of TV when they could put on another Kids In The Hall which is a good show.
War of the Worlds (2005)
Not bad but not great either...
Let me start off by saying I'm not a huge fan of Steven Spielberg. But I like most of his movies and I like the War of the Worlds story, so I was really optimistic going into this, but not expecting too much from Spielberg. It delivered some pretty stunning visuals but a lot of the story was a bit hard to swallow. *possible spoilers to follow* For example there is one scene where all of the electrical equipment stops working, even Tom Cruise's character's watch. But then, later in the same scene, people are tape recording what's going on with digital hand-held camcorders! That was ridiculous and there were other ridiculous plot holes. Like when Tom Cruise at the end of the film finds his family/friends in Boston and they are all completely clean! After this huge invasion of the entire planet where almost everybody is killed we're I guess supposed to believe that these people are all clean enough and dressed nicely enough to go to church? Plot holes galore and the writing on this movie wasn't superb, you can see everything coming, but it's shot pretty well and without giving too much away I can just say that a lot of the scenes look fantastic. If you're into great effects that are done right without necessarily caring too much about plot holes you should probably see this on the big screen. I give it 5.5/10
