Cake (2014)
Tedious and one dimensional!
I was looking forward to this movie a lot, i'm a big fan of Jennifer Anniston but was actually really disappointed. I feel that this movie had a really good foundation to really tell a great and honest story, but to be brutally honest.... Not a lot happened? I found that the character played by Jennifer Anniston was really one dimensional, this character could have had her history really delved in to and yet it was only skimmed across so slightly.
Acting wise, I feel Anniston really played this serious role well. I feel however, that this movie was let down by the slow moving script, the lack of story telling, and bizarre parts of the movie that I didn't feel were completely necessary... Certain introductions of characters that added nothing to the movie and really were just distracting the viewer from the lack of storyline.
I was really hoping this movie would be an honest account about this woman's struggle, I felt it would be informative and moving. However, I struggled to get through to the end of this movie and was wishing it would just finish already!
Se7en (1995)
Brilliant
This film had all the makings to be fantastic, and it delivered perfectly. Pitt and Freeman complimented each other well, and their characters' bonds was believable and real. The only reason i did not feel this was worthy of 10/10 was due to the predictability of the end... no spoilers of course but i did see this coming after about an hour of the film, and although the ending is performed very well, i feel a shock element might have just given this film an edge.
Overall really enjoyable, enough gore without being too disgusting, and smart dialogue that keeps you interested even when it isn't necessarily action packed.
Inception (2010)
Mind blowing! Will not disappoint!
Having been a bit late to the inception party, i was a bit dubious to watch it; I had frequently heard that it was very confusing and frustrating.
However, having watched this i cannot find fault. The acting was amazing, and all of the leads produced convincing and strong performances. The storyline is easy to follow, and despite being labelled confusing, if you really watch and listen, pay proper attention, there should really be no reason to feel confused as it is explained really well throughout.
The ending for me was a perfect way to end a film like this, i can't think of a better way to do so.
Fantastic film, one of the best i have watched in ages.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Revolutionary zombie television.
Despite being a fan of all things zombie, i am the first to admit that a lot of zombie related film/television is done poorly, with a few hidden gems. The thing that makes The Walking Dead so appealing, is that this isn't just a typical zombie survival story. The longevity of the show means that the focus isn't just on surviving the zombie apocalypse, but also the ending of the world as we know it, with the enemies not just being the undead.
The characters, particularly as the show goes on, develop greatly, and you begin to know and relate to these characters. I love how the show presents unpredictability, no character is safe, and no situation is safe, constantly leaving you wishing the next episode would come quicker.
I recommend to all, even if you're not particularly in to the zombie genre, because whilst there is enough zombie to satisfy the die hard zombie fans, there isn't too much that it becomes monotonous or repetitive.
