Best Friends Forever (2012)
Sentimentally warm and fuzzy
This was a pleasure to watch after a really bad day, had a few great laughs right off the bat. I give it 7 because there is potential for it to be an extremely good and successful sit com. I'm sure there will be a lot of women out there who can relate as it targets the female audience. Best Friends Forever is a warm fuzzy feel good comedy, with the right amount of highs and lows. The script is very witty and entertaining and it's been a long time since I've looked forward to wanting to watch the next episode, I really can't wait to see what will progress in the characters lives. You learn the personalities of the characters very quickly, that could be either good or bad on how you look at it. (Good thing) A sense of feeling like u can relate to the character, sympathise with the character (Bad thing) potentially getting annoyed with the character, could start to get a bit predictable but this is just the first episode that I watched, so I don't want to be unfair and could possibly change my mind after watching a couple more. Overall it was good and I hope people give it a go, I also hope it does not get axed like the grumpy critics prediction :( need more girly shows out there!
Drive (2011)
Oh My!!
I would have to say it's going into my favourite list, because this is one of the most unique films I have watched this year. I left the cinema completely immersed in the characters world.
It's a compelling action thriller with a sound track that is oddly perfect; it radiates an 80's twist. It just hit all the right places! The intensity of Ryan Goslings character was dominant though out the film, it bounced off the screen. Goslings character portrayed a strong, silent, and very dangerously manly.. Yet there is a quality of gentleness about him.
The chemistry between Gosling and Mulligan was intense. I loved the dark romance of it. The tortured soul meets the sweet doe eyed girl. I want to say more but I'm afraid I would give it away for those who haven't watched it.
The story line was brilliant, not at all predictable. The only down side was the build up was a bit slow in the beginning, I literally thought it was a drama movie at first, however I promise you, it makes up for it...
The Tourist (2010)
My mind, body, and soul says NO, but my heart says ooohhh kay!
I would have to say that this movie was very predictable. I thought the chemistry of Jolie and Depp was lacking extremely. It was a little disappointing, as I was expecting a super nova experience. Having said this, it was still enjoyable; I am a girl after all and love the romance of it.
I loved her outfits, she was stunning. I think Jolie was aiming to be a bit posh, but just turned out to be a bit quash. Seriously, don't give her a English accent!!! It was conflicting, she looked so good with her outfits, and ruined it with her stiffness, like a carrot up where the sun don't shine. Or possibly, "beeb boob, beeb boob, I'm a robot" likeness to her character.
Depps comedic relief was funny however it got a tad annoying, he played the part of a hot pansy, which I understand was in his character, however I felt like teeny tiny fragments of Jack Sparrow was seeping through to this character, and Jack Sparrow is a bit of a pansy. not matter how hot a pansy is, a pansy is nonetheless a flower. I would like to see him in a role where he wears the pants. Reooow.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011)
Looved it
I usually don't watch these types of films because its predictable, but this one caught my eye.
I was cynical to begin with, but it blew me away. I am usually analytical while watching movies, however in this film I was immersed in it, the character developments, the story line, the visual effects was pretty good. By the end of the movie you have a connection with the characters and are able to relate to them. It made me want to watch the remake of the Planet of the Apes ( Which I have not yet seen)
There were plenty of moments where I was almost going to cry! I would recommend it as a 'Friday night in'... with popcorn.
It has the right amount of action and fluffy gooey love heart moments.
Occupation 101 (2006)
Eye Opening
All we ever read, and watch and hear are the bombarding from our media, telling us what to believe, spoon fed how we should feel. It's very refreshing to now know and see the two sides. This documentary has backed up its statistical data with references as evidence, and the opinions expressed are not biased, you would think it would be Palestine's points of views only, but surprisingly they are the voices of Israelis, they are the voices of soldiers, politicians,Jews and Christians etc. I cried, and felt the suffering, I cannot fathom what people under occupation must go through on a daily basis because I have never experienced it, but watching this documentary gave me the insight that I needed. And I will no longer be narrow minded, judgemental, or have tunnel vision. No matter what race or religion, we are all brothers and sisters. The change starts from within ourselves and I for one am changed from this moment. I recommend this documentary and hope it opens the eyes and hearts of others, as it has mine.
