Last Exit (2006)
A poor man's (or in the case woman's) Falling Down
This film was on CTV the other day so I decided to watch it figuring there was nothing else decent on TV at the time and my internet was down.
The film had potential it really did. The acting was decent, You really felt sympathy for the mother who had been fired from her job and was trying to look after her handicapped son all while about to fight a bitter custody battle over him with her ex husband. Throughout the film as more things go wrong for her she becomes more aggressive and violent in her behavior until she has a complete meltdown near the end of the film which causes a huge car accident involving the other character a business woman with an unemployed husband and 2 kids struggling to make ends meet.
The were several problems I had with this film. For one, there are a couple of instances that I didn't find all the plausible. For one if Diana was armed with gun why didn't she pull it out when the the beth first confronted her and start destroying her vehicle? The very sight of the gun would have been enough to get her to stop. Why did she wait until after the car accident already happened? Beth's car breaks down and Diana speeds off after the incident, yet she is able to get her car to start again and catch up to her? Not likely. The child doesn't seem all the broken up after hearing that his mother has just died.
The other problem I had was just the shear abruptness of how the film ended. The conclusion was less than satisfying. It was as if the writers literally ran out of ideas and just had the film end with Beth dying and her child living happily ever after with his father and stepmother they drive off into the sunset as if nothing happened. The father even has a smile on his face. I would think he would at least be more saddened by the fact that the mother of his child is dead. Diana loses her leg, but really I felt no such visceral reaction to that. It was a numbing experience. This film could have been so much more if they had more competent writers but hey what do you expect from a TV movie.
National Treasure (2004)
not for smart, literal, people
People like me will tear this movie apart. It's just not realistic. The Plot is sooooooo predictable. You can anticipate everything that happens convientantly Of course, they find the treasure and become filthy rich, and trick the bad guy. We've seen it a million times before. The writers of this movie must think that the majority of the movie going public is stupid. They must be right because The majority of people actually liked this film. I mean solving riddles in a matter of seconds. The secret treasure room hidden under the Manhattan subway? You'd think with all the work that's gone on in New York underground That room would have been discovered before. and all that was constructed during the civil war? PLEASE And the love story between Ben and Abigail?? how cute, and I thought the romance in Clive Cussler novels was weak. They just fall in love like that, in 2 seconds WHATEVER I'd be more concerned with saving my own ass then getting some. the hell with the girl and the stupid piece of paper. 1/10 Garbage
Bloodsport (1988)
Van Damme's Best film
I'm not a huge fan of Van Damme or his work. However I really enjoyed
this film. and I believe it's probably his best film ever. The acting
was good (for a martial arts movie I was quite surprised) and the
martial arts looked very authentic. The best part of the film was
definitely the music I don't what it is it had this weird retro African
exotic vibe thing going on..anyways it sounded pretty cool, It was cool
to see all the different fighting styles and fighters from different
backgrounds and of different sizes. So if you're looking for a good Van
Damme movie with pretty decent acting, storyline and great martial arts
fighting that doesn't look cheesy? check out Bloodsport if you haven't
already

Dead Heat (2002)
definitely one of Kiefer's badder movies
I admit this was one pretty bad movie. Kiefer has definitely done his share of bad films. and this is one of them The only reason I'm posting is because of the extremely ignorant comment posted by senortuffy How can you say Kiefer Sutherland's career is in the toilet? what planet are you on anyway? that lousy TV show that he stars in I assume you're referring to 24 is THE MOST WATCHED TELEVISION SHOW IN America Kiefer Sutherland and that show have won a lot of awards that's pretty good for a TV show which you refer to as "lousy" have ever even watched a single episode? you don't like Kiefer Sutherland and his work fine. but saying that his career is in the toilet is absolutely ridiculous.
Soulcalibur II (2003)
A solid fighting game, however a little disappointed in some areas
I've loved the Soul Calibur series ever since "Soul Blade" came out on the original PS1 Soul Calibur which came to DC blew me away now we got Soul Calibur 2 which made it's way to Xbox, PS2, and GC Soul Calibur 2 is more of the same which isn't really a bad thing. SC2 has better graphics, solid control, good cast of characters, and plenty of extras to unlock now onto what disappointed me The game feels a bit unfinished like it was rushed The beginning movie is really neat however When you beat the game in Arcade Mode instead of some cool FMV Sequence you get a few picture stills with no voice and a few brief lines telling you what happens to your character after THAT'S IT?!!!! man was I angry having picture stills with no voice instead of a end movie really kills the production value of this game. Another disappointment the end boss Inferno he's just a rip off of Charade except he's on fire they took a major shortcut in designing the end boss. The environments they are lush and beautiful however not very interactive. It would have been neat if you could destroy the walls have the arena be completely destructible it would add more realism to also no blood? come on Namco! if you slash someone with a sword yellow and orange sparks aren't going to come out of them blood will SC2 SC and Soul Blade are all great fighting games however, despite it's dated graphics Soul Blade is still my favorite amongst the series due to it's solid presentation and production vales.
Bollywood/Hollywood (2002)
BLOODY AWFUL
I hated this movie it was predictable and cliche the sad thing was it was deliberate! This movie had no originality what so ever poor acting very poor production values (The whole movie looks like it was shot in one day) annoying characters (I wanna kill that stupid grandma and what kind of Indian grandma quotes Shakespare? It just looks like no real effort or thinking went into this film It was intended to be a funny spoof of bollywood culture I thought it was just lame and cheesy even the cameo appearance made by Aksahye Khanna couldn't give it any redeeming qualities 3/10
Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003)
I don't see why people like this movie so much!
Kill Bill A crazy blonde lady kills 88 guys with kato masks carrying swords, yet she struggles so much to beat Lucy Liu and Vivica Fox. This film takes everything from anime flicks and 70s martial arts films. The film has absolutely no originality to it what so ever. It's so cliche it's not funny The plot is dull, the acting is cheesy, as for Uma's character I didn't like her at all and didnt care what happened to her she is a self absorbed, arrogant, cold blooded, killer and I hope she gets offed in Vol 2 I don't see why people liked this movie I really don't and I'm betting I'm not the only one who feels this way. QT is an idiot his films are just mindless killing with no character or story development. I feel absolutely no sympathy for the characters so why continue watching? It makes me hurl when people call this movie an "artistic masterpiece" how is it artistic it's just killing!! blah 1/10
Angels Crest (2002)
stupid movie
This was perhaps one of the stupidest movies I'd seen all this year. nearly 50% of it is simply flashbacks Which really didn't explain much at all. I was so confused I had no idea what was going on. The two characters were annoying and unlikable. Near the end I didn't really care what happened I just wanted it to end This movie was not satisfying in anyway The story was like a really bad adaptation of a Stephen King novel thrown in with some cheap cinematography ripped off from Memento. I can't believe this passes for decent entertainment these days. Garbage 2/10
The Bachelor (2002)
Serves them right
The girls on this show are shallow, superficial, plastic, bimbos who are all looks and no personality. Yes they are attractive, but that's about it and the attraction disapears very quickly once they open they're mouths and start talking. This is why they have to resort to going on a reality show to find a man. Same with the bachelor They're usually just some spoiled punk who was born with a silverspoon in his mouth who is just as shallow Why can't he find a girl the normal way? gimme a break These girls deserve to be crushed when the bachelor takes them off the show serves them right they've had their 15 minutes of fame. If there is nothing else on TV don't watch this just pop in a video or read a book just stay away from this garbage
Fainaru fantajî X-2 (2003)
a decent sequel hardly a Disappointment
I liked this game, I have always wanted a real sequel to a Final fantasy game I think this was a good sequel it brings back all the charm and fun the original Final Fantasy X had. I liked the battle system in X-2 alot better and how you can actually level up traditionally (I thought the whole Sphere Grid in the first one was just rediculus) The graphics are a slight improvement but not really they pretty much look the same as they did in the first one the storyline is pretty good and gets interesting as you progress of course the game isn't perfect, I admit the whole Charlie's Angels deal with Rikku Yuna and Paine is a bit cheesy and Brother is the most annoying Final Fantasy character in existence. I also don't like how they're aren't any overdrives or limit breaks even with these flaws I hardly call ths game a "disapointment" Final Fantasy 8 Now that game was a disappointment.
Signs (2002)
a great film but very misunderstood
If you want to see lots of gore and explosions and aliens with ray guns go watch Independance Day or Aliens because that's not what your going to get by watching this film. Many people who disliked this film called it "boring" or "far fetched" well everyone is entitled to their opinions but it seems nowadays many movieviwers expect to see the meaning right there. Well for films like Signs you have to be willing to look deeper. It's about family and faith not about aliens coming to blast the human race into oblivion. The aliens are only a part of the film. I personally thought Signs was a very enjoyable film. I thought Joaquin Phoenix was great as Mel Gibson's brother and provided good comic relief for the film and I personally don't know why some people had a problem with Shyamalan himself playing the role of Ray it was only a minor role.
(WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD)
The film was quite suspenseful and at times frightening the scene in which Merill is watching the porteguese tape it has us dying for antocipation of our first glimpse of the alien creature and Merill's reaction was just classic.
Many People complained about the ending I thought the ending was quite good People had a problem with Merill using a baseball bat to subdue the alien creature well..they live on a farm what other weapon was available??? and it made sense since Merill played baseball and Ghram's wife told Merill to "Swing Away"(again you have to look depper into the meaning) and Bo's glasses of water she left behind which helped defeat the alien along with Morgan's Asthma which was killing him but in the end saved his life. I thought it was rather clever and like Mathias said much more clever then anything you naysayers would have thought of. Signs was a great film 9/10 go watch it and see for yourself but know what kind of film you are watching.
