Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005)
My favorite Harry Potter movie.
The Goblet of Fire is my favorite book. And I was expecting this movie more than any other. The Prisoner of Azkaban is my least favorite, but when I saw the trailer of this one, I expected it to be very awesome.
And yes, it appeared to be more awesome than I could expect! But I'm not saying it was very close to the book. Of course it was and it had to be, just some details were naturally changed.
And when I was reading the book, I pretty much was watching this movie already. The plot was amazing, full of action and love. The characters are all grown-ups, it was fun to watch them grow during all the movies, and Harry had the least stupid-looking hairstyle in this movie.
The editing was wonderful. I love the style and the way they show everything to the viewer. The music was also very fitting. It was very good as a MOVIE.
So, the most unique Potter movie. My favorite.
Sucker Punch (2011)
Let your mind take you to an action on heels!
I liked it.
This is a very unique movie. It has a multilayer plot where real actions are presented to the viewer as visual metaphors. I'm not gonna tell much more about the plot. Just understand the basic style of this movie.
The action scenes were awesome. They were dynamic, fast, epic and hot. Also pretty random. But isn't it what we people mostly want to see? Just screw the idea and watch the insane action where the milieu, bad guys and explanations don't matter?
Despite that, the real-life plot wasn't bad either. They made it somehow depressively cool. The editing was good (slow motion, other camera tricks), and the music, especially remixes. The computer graphics were good, but not the best. But I still really like the fantasy world they're in - the environment and details especially.
Oh, and one more thing. Go see the movie now!
Sisko tahtoisin jäädä (2010)
A Typical Finnish Movie
I'm a Finn, yup, and I never liked Finnish movies. We have this weird attraction to depression, and it reflects the in local filmography.
Two crazy girls doing random and stupid stuff, while the filmmakers try to make something epic out of it. Just sad. But, a good example of our teenagers.
I wish I could tell more. You don't even need a script for this kind of movie.
To summarize - dumb, boring, weird, awful, dumb, boring, weird, awful, dumb, boring, weird, awful, dumb, boring, weird, awful.
Go watch Renny Harlin or something... Our savior.
Gulliver's Travels (2010)
A Good Family Movie
I liked it. I don't care what other people write here, cos many people like it as well; they just don't spend their time writing reviews.
A very colorful, positive, funny and heart-warming movie. It has a classical plot with classical character elements. It's very clear and easy.
Many people mention in their reviews that this movie is ''childish''. Well, I guess that it's a movie for kids then! I actually recommend this movie to all ages, but it's really good to watch as a whole family with children. I went to see it with my friends.
After watching this movie, you will walk out of the theatre with a smile on your face.
A very simple, funny and positive movie.
Go see it!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010)
Mixed Up Feelings
I've read all the Harry Potter books and they are the best books ever. Must say, Rowling is the savior of teenager reading skills. The earlier movies were great, I still enjoy them. I just cannot imagine any better actors and environment for the stories. The first two were probably the closest to the book, or that's at least how I think. I didn't really enjoy the third one; it has a weird decor. The fourth one was brilliant, the fifth was okay, and the sixth was a bit darker and much more emotional. But one thing combines these 6 movies - Hogwarts.
In the 7th book the trio isn't in Hogwarts anymore. I got used to it while reading the book pretty fast, but didn't while watching the movie. It was so different.
Anyway, must say that I'm glad they split up the seventh movie into two parts, because it simply has way too many things.
This movie was very close to the book. Like when I was reading the book in 2007, I was watching this movie already. The image was very close. They even put some little details, but also missed some. They could make the beginning more like the book's. Also, my friends say that the movie didn't follow some details, like how exactly they found out something about one thing, but I didn't notice any. Maybe I just started to forget what the book told.
In the other hand, this movie was very dark and it was very hard to get used to the outside of Hogwarts. Sometimes it seemed that they stretched the scenes for way too long. I mean, yes, even the book tells about all their boredom but the movie showed it in a bit more different way. And in the end, after the movie, I was depressed.
I was so damn sad and lost. I couldn't leave many things out of my head. I almost cried in the theater (70% of the audience did). So yeah, it is also a powerful movie. Not every filmmaker can make people cry, and make the wizard world so real.
So after a few days I started to remember the little funny parts, and suddenly wanted to watch the movie again.
I'm waiting in excitement for the second part. It has to be better because the book tells about way more things in more exciting places. But anyway, this wasn't so bad also. I started to ask myself: 'What did you expect? Isn't that what the book told about?'
So yeah. I know that even you... yes, YOU, have already watched the movie. These days not many people read reviews before they go and see a movie. They usually only take a look at the star rating. So tell me your opinion. But who knows, I wish you best of luck if you haven't seen it yet :)
Transformers (2007)
What is everybody talking about? AMAZING MOVIE!
Seriously, these days you can't just decide whether you want to see the movie or not by other people's reviews. It makes me so angry when I run through all the bad reviews.
So, Transformers!
I have never been interested in Transformers, even as a small kid. So, I went to see the movie with quite low expectations. I mean I thought it's gonna be childish like a cartoon. But whoops!
This ain't a movie for little kids. Every true man and a sci-fi fan must see this! Not forgetting Michael Bay's amazing will to blow things up, this was a real half-military movie! Actors were just perfect!
And what about the computer graphics, I wish I could tell you. They put so much details into the robots! I wish you could see my face when I first saw a robot transforming. Not any ''bend-your-knees-and-elbows-motion'', but very detailed.. well.. transformation!
The camera might shake sometimes a bit, but it makes it more realistic when the aliens are in action. Remarkable.
And one more thing: the sounds! Wow! You gotta hear the sound effects! Not talking about the music score, which is so beautiful, and which is in my soundtracks' top list.
Those people writing these weird reviews, are not even serious! They went and see this movie just to find some flaws and only bad points, writing checks in their notebooks. It really looks like that. They only see bad in all things. That's a wrong attitude for watching movies.
If you're a sci-fi fan and want to see great effects, cool storyline, real army in action, amazing Shia and Josh acting-- are you still here?!
Inception (2010)
*Speechless*
I went to see this movie with quite low expectations, plus the theater was kinda crappy. There wasn't even the thingie where to place your drink. So before the movie started, I covered my nerves with 25% of my popcorn.
But then... the magic started! The beginning was quite unclear, but everything was explained with time. Very soon I got hooked, so I forgot about the uncomfortable circumstances in the theater. The point is to continuously keep on the track to understand what's going on. And I must say, the plot is amazing. I loved the way it was filmed (filmed like all those good movies: these little twists and filming tricks, like something long expected uncovers in the end), the way the actors played their roles, and how they kept the story so interesting. This means how many facts they put into there. I was like: ''Hey, I know that detail!'', and how it's all put into the movie.
The music is awesome. Hans Zimmer never disappoints.
Christopher Nolan made the Batman movie: The Dark Knight, which I didn't like so much. That was one of the reasons why I had small expectations. That guy just surprised me.
And, like my summary says, I'm speechless. After seeing this movie you just want to tell all your friends to go and see it, and you just won't forget the movie. So go see this movie NOW!
Doom (2005)
Good for entertainment.
All movies are entertainment. But all movies have something else too. This movie doesn't have it.
I have never played the Doom game. I only know that they changed the whole story in this movie. Originally the monsters were demons from hell, but in here it was about genetic mutation. Many Doom fans were disappointed.
I liked the beginning and the end, but the middle part was pretty boring. Guys just walk around in the Mars darkness and wait till they die. Neither did The Rock save the movie. This role is not for him. Still, there were few jokes that I liked.
They still brought many things from the game. The first person-shooter part was pretty fun and I liked that brought the BFG gun to the movie.
The story is not wide, many things were left unclear. Still, all in all, it's not a bad movie, but it's one of those movies that you probably want to see only once.
