Remember Me (2010)
Emotion Packed Drama
I don't usually write reviews for movies unless its exceptionally good that I can't stop thinking about it, or the movie was awfully bad I cant believe I wasted my time watching it. In case of Remember Me its the former.
The movie starts as every other Hollywood movie where a mother is killed in front of her daughter while waiting for the subway in a deserted station, but the movie takes a turn there after. The director has introduced the characters in an unique way, it takes time to realise their true persona.
The movie is packed with emotional twists, and the actors portray them in subtle ways throughout the movie. Thought the movie rolls a bit slow, which is entirely necessary for the emotions in the scenes to sink in the audiences mind, at the end it leaves you traumatised and makes you keep thinking about the movie and the characters for a long time.
Its a perfect film for a Romantic evening which gives you somethin to discuss with your partner at the end.
Murder (2004)
Unfaithful remade in Hindi
This movie is a perfect adaptation of the English Flick Unfaithful. Ashmit plays the role of Richard Gere, Emran that of Olivier and Malikka the perfect cheating wife role of Lane. They have changed the second half of the film to adapt for the Indian masses.
Even then the movie has got the full traces of Unfaithful, though it couldn't catch up with the original. It was a cheap soft porn of the Bollywood lovers, where Mallika showed a lot more skin than anyone dared to show. Emran did more roles like this and was even nicknamed the serial killer. In the future if the Indian Directors plan to remake a English movie then they have to look into the feasibility of the plot with the Indian Censors. Though the film bombed at the box office, the actors got the undue recognition. In future the directors should be a little more careful in remaking a Oscar nominated film.
All said, this is not a family film, so take the extra caution while watching it at home with family.
The Accidental Husband (2008)
Romantic Comedy it is..
I'm writing this, just to clear a few misconceptions that might be among people who read the other user comments. I agree that the movie is implausible, but friends come on, this is a romantic comedy, a movie world in which anything can happen. You just take it, not question it, for its not science fiction.
The plot could have been dealt with even more maturity. I also agree that there was very less romance between Emma (Uma) and Patrick (Morgan), but it beats me why she would leave such a perfect groom such as Richard(Colin) for a fireman, but the climax is fine alright. The director could have added more convincing reasons for Emma to fall in love with Patrick. Also I do understand that Bollywood is making a huge impact on the Hollywood, and also that Indian cinema and the martial arts films from the South east can no longer be left unnoticed.
The use of Soundtracks from foreign films by the double Oscar winner A.R.Rahman sure is a boost and came as a complete surprise. What i suggest to people who are yet to see this film is Watch it with a open mind, for anything can happen in the movie land.
The Invisible (2007)
Really Awful!
This movie is one of the worst I've watched in ages.Though the theme is kinda new and encouraging, the screenplay is real dull. The film starts out well but moves on a real slow pace. The characters are not very convincing, I believe the director has faltered somewhere. Seriously he came up with a good theme but unfortunately couldn't come with an equally good storyline.
The director has faltered not only with the main actors but also with all the other characters as well. While watching the film you may cry out in frustration. I can't fathom what enmity the director harboured against the police, cause they have been portrayed as complete jerks.
People looking for a good time to spend on a quality movie skip this piece of junk.
What Lies Beneath (2000)
Less Gore More Screams....
What Lies Beneath is one of the movies which makes you scream your head off. Though the starting was kinda dull and the film was slow at places on the whole the director has made a great effort in scaring us.
Michelle Pfeiffer has made a genuine attempt. Her body language is perfect and she looks more sexy even at her age. Her eyes speaks volumes. The rerecording is certainly commendable. This film will make you squirm in your seats with tension. The subtle twists in the story at unexpected places is an added advantage.
More romantic scenes would have helped. The slow unraveling of the story does the trick. The climax was unexpected though.
I'll credit this movie a 7/10. Horror lovers should surely try this.
The Blue Lagoon (1980)
A Classic flick from the eighties
Blue Lagoon as I said is a Classic from the eighties. The story revolves around two people who land on an Island by mistake as children and grow to become a fine couple, without the complexities of life.
This film is a direct adaptation of the successful book. Its a wonderful movie which showcases the love, anger, fear and compassion between a couple, in a beautiful world of their own where the hatred, anger and venom of today's world doesn't exist.
This is a smooth romantic movie which you 'll relish whenever you watch it, regardless of time. After watching it over at my friends place, I liked it so much that I got my own copy. This is a film which reminds you of the serenity of nature.A world without time constraint. watching this movie really gave my mind some peace.
Brooke Shields as Emmeline is stunning, and the teenagers have done a wonderful job.
