A Mature Movie You Will Love It Or Hate It
2 April 2010
This is one of those movies you either love or hate. Having read some of the reviews posted here its a blatantly obvious fact

Spoilers within

What I liked: Kristin Scott Thomas, I think she did a more than decent job here I felt for her character. This particular actress is brilliant at expressing emotion without the use of script this gift is put to great use in this movie. I think that anyone who didn't appreciate this fact were not watching the same movie i was. The chemistry between the two leads was pretty good.

what i didn't like: The plot was implausible didn't know this was a book before being made into a movie it explains a lot. The script in parts left lots to be desired.

Overall I liked this movie I felt the two leads Ford and Scott Thomas did great work. It is a mature story for mature people I think younger viewers might not get the point. I enjoyed it a lot.

Brilliant Brilliant, Brilliant
2 April 2010
I think the summary pretty much gives my view away.

I watched this the other night on DVD. I have never watched a subtitled film for several reasons. But when I read the reviews for this one I decided to bite the bullet and I hired it out. Well lads I can honestly say I am very glad i did.

Watching and reading was a little bit annoying at the start. I don't speak french doh!!! After a while though I forgot about the subtitles.

The plot centers around Juliette played brilliantly by English Actress kristin Scott Thomas. Juliette has spent 15 years in prison for the murder of her 6 year old son. She is released into the care of her younger sister Lea.

The thing is Juliette is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which has never been treated during her 15 years in jail. This is a very sad state of affairs indeed. She is very traumatized and guilt ridden. Both emotions are played brilliantly by KST throughout the film. what really impressed me was that KST doesn't play for sympathy at all. She gives us the viewer realism and honesty.

The movie is a little bit slow and I was disappointed you didn't get to see on screen what happened to her son. I won't spoil it for anyone reading this.

Overall this is a brilliant movie which is why I've given it a 10 rating well worth watching. Kristin Scott Thomas should have gotten an Oscar for this performance its crying shame she didn't.

Cinematic Triumph - Redford/Scott Thomas At Their Best
2 April 2010
Contains Spoilers I watched this movie for the first time some years ago. As a die hard RR fan I was very impressed with the fact that he directed and starred in this film. Usually previous to this when Redford Directed he didn't star in. Ill bet he had some fun directing himself.

KST delivers a touching performance in this film as the mother struggling with a dysfunctional relationship with her daughter. I didn't find this movie to be over sentimental which I liked. A few of the highlights for me were The scene at little bighorn where Annie loses it after Grace rants at her this whole them is continued later in the film when Grace finally acknowledges to both herself but also to her mom how much her injury has effected. This is a very touching scene and illustrates just what a find the young scarlet Johansen was.

For me personally the scene that effected me most watching it was the dance between Tom and Annie. It has to be one of the most erotic pieces of film making ever.

I think RR did an excellent job with this movie both as an actor and as a director. I highly recommend this movie totally loved it.

Season 1 Fabulous (Contains Spoilers)
21 December 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Sanctuary is without exception on of the best sci fi series i have ever watched. Amanda Tapping was great on Stargate SG1 but on this show she is beginning to show what she is capable of as an actress. The accent is somewhat dodgy its Americanised brit but this is explained at some point by the fact that she has lived the the states for over 100 years gotta say it guys that would pollute anyones accent. I also love Christopher Heyerdahl in this show his brit accent is exceptional. The only nit pick i have is the fact that they killed off Ashley Magnus played beautifully by emilie ullerup at the start of season 2 that really annoyed me. then to add insult they replaced her with the weakest link on the show in my opinion Kate Freelander as played (Badly) by Agam Darshi. I simply cant take to the character at all. Season 1 is brilliant absolutely fabulous from start to end season well worth investing in. I will buy season 2 i am after all a collector. I have a great deal of respect for Ms Tappings work and will continue to watch the show.
