The Devil's Rejects (2005)
Triggered by sadism? Don't watch this
This is my favorite Rob Zombie movie.
There are many great reviews on the film here, so I will not write more than this:
The movie is a masterpiece, and if you are not angry at some point when watching it, you might lack something called empathy =)
Enjoy it, these ones are few and far between.
Rise of the Warrior Apes (2017)
A must watch
If you enjoy documentaries about apes/monkeys, this is a must watch, if you are not to squeemish that is.
After watching this, I had to go trough many documentaries about the life of apes/monkeys, and I found none that comes even close to the impression this documentary made.
It is truly inspiring to watch a project that has taken decades to finish,
to see how the humans slowly are allowed to become a part of, or at least become a observer of the group of chimpanzee.
It is a powerful, heartwarming, and at times really hard to watch documentary, that gives us a glimpse of how some animals, in the right conditions,
can show eerily human-like tendencies.
Flimmer (2011)
visually pleasant and intimate story
A great show of camera use, and with an intimate and personal narration.
I enjoy this every time I watch it, and it was actually the reason I created my IMDB account. This film does deserve a higher rating.
Battlefield Earth (2000)
Not quite the movie you expected?
I found Battlefield Earth to be an original, and also very interesting movie. That people get hanged up in details like 1000 years old technology still being usable I can understand, but that should not be reason to butcher the movie like this. The story is actually pretty realistic, thinking of how people have made theories, stories and even religions based on ruins left behind by earlier cultures. (like the stone henge and the pyramids in Egypt) The way humans live in small tribes in the movie, full of superstition and fear of what's unknown is exactly how we lived only a few centuries ago.
I will agree that this movie turned out a bit sketchy, but the idea and what they manage to tell us in the movie is actually a deep and concerning truth, of how we treat weaker countries and animals, just that in the movie, we are the new losers. The only thing that really irritated me in the movie was the quality of the feet and hands of the alien specie.
All in all I think the movie was a charming piece of work, coming up a little short, but still getting the important message through.
If people is watching movies based on a hunger for multi-million animations and special effects, may be they should keep their mouth shut, so people that see the movies for their story can do so.
I say give us more movies that's not afraid of setting the human race back to the stone age.
To few movie makers dare to do that.
Anyways, that's just my opinion, see for yourself if this movie is as bad as people want you to believe.
Beowulf & Grendel (2005)
Not just another adventure movie.
I love this movie, it's not based on the typical popularity values. It's told in an honest and simple way, not using expensive animations and so on. The story seems to be pretty accurate to the original tale, and it's surely one of the few of its kind. If I were to say something negative about it, it would have to be the "muscle suit" the troll is using, to make the actor look bigger, but that's not a problem, I barely noticed it. But now that the new beowulf movie is coming, I'm sure it will be mutch more Hollywood style, with more materealistic views, using "perfect" actors, good looking and so on, a lot of data-animation +++.. So this would be the "smart" version, with a respect of the true tale, and the new one probably just a weak but good-looking version..
