Cheerleader Ninjas (2002)
Hurts so good.
If you find some things to be so stupid that they're hilarious, then this movie is for you. That is the point of this movie. However, if you rented/bought this movie expecting it to be a conventional comedy, then I recommend that you never rent/buy a comedy that has Ninja or Cheerleader in the title, let alone some combination of the two. I gave the movie a 2 because awful implies that it should never be watched under any circumstance. Cheerleader Ninjas is a solid choice if you're in Blockbuster and want to find the cheesiest movie they have. Going on a rant about how bad this movie was is a waste of breath. Also, if you could not tell by the title, the humor is very immature which can be a plus or a minus depending on your taste.
The 40 Year Old Virgin (2005)
Major Disappointment
I'm all about a good comedy so I was excited for the release of this movie. However, I was extremely disappointed when I realized that this was the least original comedy ever made. All this movie did was take jokes that everyone has told since the 6th grade and slapped them together and added one joke about Kelly Clarkson. Comedy films are supposed to be daring, or at least witty, not comparable to a comedy made by randomly selected high schoolers. To me, this film would have been American Pie 40 if Jim had never gotten laid. I've got nothing against American Pie, but the series quickly went down hill. I would not recommend this film unless you're the kid who laughs during sex ed. If you are that kid, then have a blast.
Hook (1991)
Hook has something for everyone if you have the right attitude.
For those of us who were in the target audience during this movie's release, it was one of the most entertaining and influential movies of our childhood. Hook taught us what life should be about. Life is not about having a lot of money, it is about having a life rich with imagination, fun, and most importantly love/friendship. Although the message is very apparent throughout the movie, it does not take away from the entertainment aspect. In fact, I feel it adds to it. Hook, in my opinion, is one of the most creative movies ever made. The older audience may have felt that the food fight scene was stupid, but it made nearly every face of my generation light up. While on a road trip to Mexico with about eighty other college kids on the bus, we voted to watch hook over the numerous other movies we had with us and not even one person had a problem with watching it. Since each of the guys brought a date, the bus was split evenly between guys and girls. Maybe most of the people who have rated this movie were not born at the right time to truly experience its greatness because it is truly a classic film and should not be detrimental to Spielberg's reputation.
