As a film, the only way to understand this is as a prediction of the end of cinema as an art form. It also seems to point to the finish of our own civilization over all. It is certainly about the death of the middle class, and the transformation of workers into robotic brain dead cultists.
The problem was that the film was so flat and boring, that this important message will not be understood by the very few that will watch it. I saw this in a theater with four people on a Saturday night. I expect the theater to be turned in condos any day now.
There are other movies that made this point with a lot more flair, starting with the Titanic, and then with the brilliant movie Parasite.
Again, no real plot, no actual acting, might seem to lead to a terrible film. That is the point exactly.
