Presidents Last Bang
27 September 2006
My feeling on the overall direction of the Presidents Last Bang was that it was all done; it seemed to flow right along pretty well. Although it was not nearly as good of a film as Oldboy was. This film used many different ways of keeping you interested in the film. I also thought that it was interesting all the different locations they used, and the actors and wardrobe. Wow you can see how much work it took to make this film, almost every scene was so illustrated, it was amazing. One thing I noticed a lot of was the movie jumped a lot from one location to another, causing some confusion for myself at times. However I truly enjoyed this film mainly because of the actors. There were so many different actors, with different personalities, and a little horseplay that went along with the film. The lighting of this film, was well done as well, I wasn't so much impressed by that but just by the art of each scene that the director showed. If I had to rate this film, I would give it a 7. Because of all the work that went into making the film, the storyline was good, and the actors were great. The camera work was also neat. He used so many different angles and movements. It gave you a lot better quality. This also played into the production quality which was also great. This was a well done film. Props to the Director and his crew.

Oldboy!

Warning: Spoilers
I found the plot in this film very interesting. The story line is extremely clever, being how they portrayed the protagonist actor in the film to be the villain. Making it look like he killed his wife. After 15 years of imprisonment he is released to a world he doesn't understand. I also found it interesting how he took so good care of him while he was imprisoned. Then after how he messes with him by having the homeless actor give him a wallet and cell phone. Then how he calls and torments him, and makes him think about what he has done in the past. Another thing I found interesting is how he attempted to find his kidnapper by going to restaurants and eating that food that he had to for fifteen years. So that he could find the taste of that same food, which would help him locate the kidnapper. The idea that the protagonist character tortures the villain in this story is a huge twist. I really did not expect this to happen in the film. Then the trap that was set for him in her apartment was also clever. Then how they bugged him, so that they could control his life, is insane but on the other hand awesome! Because of the fact that so much went into this idea. Then how they flashed back to the main characters life showing the reason why this all happened was so intense. This was just awesome! The overall direction in this film was awesome; this may have been the best film I have seen all day. I felt that the editing, sound, and storyline went along perfect together. Some of the camera movements in this film were incredible as well. I thought when the camera was spinning around the character when thought he was being attacked by ants was awesome. The reason for that was because it was showing him loosing it, as did the camera giving an extra effect, to the filming of the scene. On almost every scene you can see how well drawn out, and how much work has been put into it by the director. You can truly tell how much he cared for his work.

I also felt that the acting was great, it would have not been nearly as good if the actors in this film were different. They showed a lot of compassion for the way they acted in this film. In which made this film so much better.

The storyline of this film was incredible, a little far fetched at times but none the less incredible. So much had to go into each scene it's hard to believe. Every line was well drawn out for each character as well.

The lighting of the film was also interesting to say the least; the way it changes at times really puts you in the mood of the actors in the story.

The editing was also well done, you can really tell a good film when you see one because of the way that the film ran together. And that is what exactly happened in this film.

The production quality of this film was great, for how many different objects and scenes, and locations were filmed, and the lighting. This film was amazing, much of the reason goes to the director, but the production quality really made this film come together.

Chung King Express
13 September 2006
I thought that Chung King Express was out there, I really didn't care for the story line I mean how did those two events connect? I didn't realize that it was two different events until the end of the film. I also didn't care for the shaky camera when the actors were running away, it just wasn't my thing. On the other hand the lighting was really good for the theme, because it was dark which can mean sorrow or depression, in which the actors were feeling in the story. My overall rating of this film would be a 5. It wasn't the worst film I've ever seen but far from the best. I just could not stand the ending for any of the story lines. At first I didn't realize that it was a second story in the film.

In The Mood For Love
13 September 2006
I don't even know where to start. Although the director used very good lighting and sound for this film, to me the setting was just to dull. As was the acting and storyline. This film could have been done much better. Is it just me, or does his films all seem just a like? It was like watching the three movies over and over for me. I would rate this movie a 3 out of 10. A lot like his other movies, the director uses very good cinematography and also has very good lighting for the mood of the film, but just like his others the story line is very dull, and seems to drag on forever. The director seems to put a lot of heart into these films and I respect that. However I do not care for his story lines.

2046 (2004)
Boring!!
13 September 2006
My personnel feeling on 2046 was boring, I found one thing that was neat and that was that the director used the same sentence about telling secrets in the different movies. Otherwise the director used good lighting for the film just like in his other movies because of the main characters depression of film. To me it seemed like the exact same thing three movies straight. I would rate this movie a 3 out of 10. The reason I rate it so low, is because I just do not care for the directors films. Although I think at times he has very good cinematography, his story lines seem dull, and drag on forever. Another thing I noticed was the he used many of the same actors in the film. This was neat but the story line is just to dull for my liking.
