In 2001, John landed a position at the Los Angeles film finance, sales and production company Senator International (which later became Mandate Pictures) led by industry veteran Joseph Drake (THE HUNGER GAMES, JUNO, THE GRUDGE, HAROLD AND KUMAR). Under Joe's leadership, John developed an interest in producing independent feature films.
In 2008, Mr. Rice formed No Restrictions Entertainment with filmmaker Edgar Michael Bravo and produced these critically acclaimed films, ONE HOUR FANTASY GIRL, THE MAGIC STONE, MEMORIES OF A LOST LOVE , MARK’S SECRET TO ETERNAL LIFE and A NICE QUIET LIFE . The team recently released their 6th project in 10 years with A CHILD’S VOICE, a supernatural thriller about a runaway teen who answers a child calling out for help and is sent on a journey to find a human trafficking network run by the child's killer. All six films tell bold, authentic, real-life stories of survival in the face of uncertainty with a hope and love for a better world. The team is now in preparation for their 7th feature with GAME DAY.

Pandora's Promise (2013)
The Lies Told To Us By The Nuclear Industry On Full Display
From purely a business point-of-view, this is all you need to know about nuclear power and global warming: http://youtu.be/mwIvGJJ_dtU
I watched this film on Netflix recently and was sickened by the outright lies this film tells the viewer. Like the Pharmaceutical industry, the Nuclear industry always shields itself from critics, "alarmists" and those who dare to challenge the industry's track record through the lens of science. Science and technology are pure. They are neutral. The PR firms for the nuclear industry know that when they talk in these frames, the concern, worry and anger people have expressed fade into images of scientists in lab coats and hardworking people who are "trying to make a difference" for our future. This is far from the reality of the nuclear industry. It is a FOR PROFIT ONLY industry. Maximization of profit over the cost of safety. I would invite anyone who thinks otherwise to not only look at the track record of the past but also Google "Hanford", "Fukushima", "WIPP" – for starters today. Every single one of these sites is run by a corporation with a track record (before these recent accidents occurred) that cut corners on safety from day one continues to do so now.
For proof, here is a short list of articles to being learning the truth about the nuclear industry...

100's of sourced articles: http://enenews.com

The truth is out there if you want to find it. The few in this industry who stand to profit in the 10's of billions (General Electric, Hitachi, Toshiba and others) will never relinquish their power unless we stand up and say "no more". What is being developed and carried is not done so in the name of science or technology. It is pure insanity.
I'll Love You Forever... Tonight (1992)
A Haunting Film
Saw this film (the director's cut) about 14 years ago in a theater and was impressed with the performances and story. It is a story about bittersweet redemption and the journey one takes to resolve their past while dealing with their present.
Gay or straight, man or woman, you are drawn to these flawed characters as their needs for love are like everyone else. The story and characters have a haunting ring of truth about the patterns we repeat over and over in our own relationships.
Highly recommend for anyone who wants to see great performances and a realistic story.
Missing Pieces (2012)
An emerging talent
I had the pleasure of seeing this film along with meeting the director in LA last year. Kenton Bartlett has a bright future ahead. His casting and handling of each actor is impressive, even more so given this is his first time as a feature writer/director. The tone, style and performances are consistent throughout. While this is not so much a review on the film as it is a comment on the director, I recommend the movie for story as well for all the attributes mentioned above. It is one thing to see great performances from veteran actors like Mark Boone Junior but when you see unknown talent carry their own with a depth and presence, to me, that is a sign of a gifted director.
Goodbye Promise (2012)
An authentic look at heartbreak, pain and disappointment
I attended the opening night of Goodbye Promise at The Downtown Independent. David Branin is a gifted director, bringing out the best in actors who give authentic performances on par with Hollywood films' star actors and big budgets. The film is a beautifully woven tale of melancholy, pain and disappointment but offers natural humor from its supporting cast to lighten things up. The story is capped off by a beautiful moment toward the end between main actor Gregor Collins and actress Sarah Prikryl. What I think is one of the bigger accomplishments of this film is that the large majority was improvised and it evolved and works as a full length feature film. I look forward to seeing more of what this team does and where they take us next.
Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004)
This country's greatest strength is also its weakness
This film moved me & is a warning of what we can become and maybe are becoming. You cannot argue the horrific images of the dead women & children's' bodies who are casualties of war - American or not. This film captured the best and the worst of our country and the current state of the world we have created. The great thing we have always had as Americans, I believe, is that the masses of this country want good things for themselves - to enjoy life, and live it free - and have faith that those who we turn to, giving our trust, putting in power to make decisions, will do the right thing to protect all of us and the world from those who threaten and want to destroy life. I felt this film showed how our belief of us wanting good things is a fine delicate thread that can easily be manipulated by people who use and take that trust to advance their profits and power at the expense of the lives of decent people - on both sides of the world.
Many who are critics of Michael Moore have said that this film (along with his previous films) is slanted to show only his point-of-view. There is nothing new or surprising about this. It is his point-of-view. If all of us were able sit down with any director and ask them, "What made you want to make this film or TV show?" or "What drew you to the material?" I think we would find that every documentary, film or television show reflects a point-of-view or belief the filmmaker sides with - why would any filmmaker be drawn to these issues or other issues - because their not interested or have no opinions or convictions?
While point-by-point Mr. Moore did not go back and forth to each side's view in response to the other, (although I think the silence of the Bush administration today not refuting any of these allegations made in the film speaks volumes - partially due to printed materials on public record) I did like the fact that he showed the cowardice of the Democrats (in both the House and Senate) who did next-to-nothing to stop this administration from taking full control of our country when the facts were right there in front of them - a.k.a. The Patriot Act - which is the preliminary legislation the Democrats helped pass that is slowly preparing this country's people for Marshall Law & Dictatorship - one can only believe why the Democrats kept their mouths shut was maybe to save their political asses and regain control of Congress - and when they did - they still did not stand up as a party against this administration.
I have faith in film that it has proven to in the past, will now and in the future, continue to change people. The two groups of people who need to see this film are the 4 million registered voters in 2000 that identified themselves as Christians and did not vote in the last election - for anyone. The second group of people who should check out this film are the 18, 19 up to 25 year olds who usually don't vote - but this time for certain whose lives and their children's lives will dramatically be affected unlike anything our country's previous generations have ever seen if this S.O.B. and his administration gets another four years or more - don't forget good ole' Jeb in Florida.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Star Wars is back! Episode II is a great movie that hooks youwith anticipation for the unknown in Episode III.
I went to a screening of EP 2 last night - WOW - much better than the first one both in story and action. The characters are more fleshed out and likeable - even the bad guys like Count Dooku - portrayed by Christopher Lee is a good-bad guy. Fans should like the stories behind Jango Fett and Count Dooku, but Yoda is the one in this film that people will talk about for a long time to come.
THIS is the film that is the hook for everyone to want to see the next -not out of hoping it will be better, but because of how things will unfold - leaving you in anticipation for the unknown (even when knowing what will happen by Episode IV: A New Hope).
Star Wars Episode II is an impressive achievement for the future of digital cinema. The digital effects are more impressive than that of EP 1 and Lord of The Rings. The smallest of details in the backgrounds of the sets are some of the most impressive digital art direction I have seen.
Episode II is definitely a movie for everyone this summer - it's filled with fun, good humor, action and some shocking surprises - all the elements to make it a summer blockbuster.
Meddle and Steal (2001)
A cool, edgy and original story of two men's lives, one a banker, the other a loser and the choices they make that unknowingly affect one another.
Meddle and Steal is a film that will hopefully launch the career of Leone Marucci. The casting, directing, acting, cinematography, and production design are incredible. His ability to blend the present reality with an inside-the-mind surreal world connected through comedy is one of his great strengths. The original soundtrack and sound design by William V. Malpede is an incredible piece of mastery as well.
