Akira (1988)
A fine display of what Japanese animation has to offer.
Without a doubt one of the best Manga`s ever. Akira possesses the stunning fast paced animation that only Manga have been able to achieve, however it is not just that which makes it a classic, the story-line is detailed and in depth and never leaves the viewer bored, the dubbing is superb (and believe me, it makes a difference!) The music, although a bit annoying at first, complements the atmosphere very well. Overall these are the aspects that have allowed Akira to gain a cult following, and rightly so at for that matter!
Mariah Carey: Around the World (1998)
A collection of Mariahs best moments from her tours around the world.
If you like Mariah Carey, you will like this. With some superb camera work, MC. Around the world definitely captures the best of Mariah's live performances. Other titles available in the MC collection are: Mariah Carey. Fantasy Mariah Carey. Unplugged Mariah Carey. The First Version Mariah Carey. #1's.
Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson (1993)
reasonably well told story of the boxers life.
This documentary charts the life of Mike Tyson, from when he was born, to when he was convicted of rape. Often slow paced, but nonetheless fairly accurate portrayal of the highs and lows in his life. Contains some interesting, if not rare, footage of Mike boxing at a young age.
Clerks (1994)
Superb fast pace comedy, which bears all the hallmarks of a Kevin Smith film.
Shot over a period of only two days and for a budget of only $40,000, Kevin Smith delivers a feat of cinimatical achievement. This film is constantly funny (albeit sometimes crude) and never leaves the viewer bored or confused. Similar to the later film `Mallrats` which was shot on a much larger budget, but equally as hilarious. Overall I think the major achievement is how Kevin Smith did so much with so little.
